This Should Make For An Interesting Crowd
Dee Snider is using a resurgence in his popularity to do some good. On February 25, Dee is putting together a concert which will benefit the survivors of the Great White club gig where 100 fans were killed by fire and more than 200 injured. Snider was moved to do something when one of the burn victims told him that each day in the hospital for a burn victim can cost as much as $70,000. The concert will be broadcast on VH1.
The lineup so far includes Twisted Sister, Tesla, Stryper, Jewel, Kellie Pickler, and Tom Scholz. The concert will be held at The Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence Rhode Island. Rachael Ray will be serving the coffee for everyone. Ok. That last part is crap, but I never did comment on her apparent dislike for the coffee that pays her a great deal to say that she does.
It's very easy to forget about a tragedy and move on. I'm glad to see that Dee not only remembers what happened, but is doing something about it. So, here is some old school Twisted Sister.

Personally, I am still sick of the 80's hair bands and I would have to dig my ear drums out with a spoon if I had to endure an ensembled concert of them.
... But I have to applaud their cause. I think that is very thoughtful and sweet of Dee & the other participating acts.
Twisted- is this really the inspiration for your secret computer identity? Do you get all made up at home and sing some old school tunes at home when no one is looking? Hee hee- just kidding! I always think of Dee when I read your name. And Jax- I always think of the character from Mortal Kombat named Jax when I read yours. I'm sorry of the thoughts mine might induce!
In a "what tsunami?" world, it is very nice to have someone keep the support coming.

Sorry, but this is one of my pet peeves - where was the metal community when the tribe suffered such a tragedy? Mr. Snider, you have made my day, and you are making a difference.

I hope they make a ton of money. I can hardly imagine anything worse than being a burn victim. And then having to worrying about hospital bills.

Parisss, no, I've never been a fan, and if not for the fact that I suck at picking out handles, I never would have picked this one.
The source for this was a conversation I had with my brother after I had chemo one day. He asked me how I was doing and I said I was really upbeat and that I welcomed every treatment because it meant I was one more closer to being done. He said, "You're twisted, sister!" And when I couldn't think of anything, that came to mind.
Lame, but it works and Twisted or Twist or Twisty is actually kinda cute.

And Jax??? I'd be interested to see how you answer Parisss, too. I'm nosy that way.
On first glance at the top picture I thought it was Nicholas Cage.

This is such an awesome thing for Dee Snider to do. As a heavy metal kid in the 80's I enjoyed Twisted Sister and enjoyed many of the bands listed here. crichmond where that was your unofficial song ours was Smokin In The Boys Room by Motley Crue lol. I graduated the year after you in '86.
This is such a great thing to hear about! I live in the area, and my husband lost a friend in the Station fire. It is such a sad site to drive by; now just a cleared lot with 100 crosses and many memorials. This fire is a hotly contested topic in R.I.......always on the news and in the papers....it is nice to see the victims are still being remembered outside of R.I.. Props to Dee!
@nothingsacred...... the owners of the night club (two brothers) were held responsible (one is still in prison and the other had to serve community service). also , Great White's tour manager is also still in prison (i believe) for lighting off the pyrotechnics that began the fire.

Derderian, who is scheduled to address the board in private next Wednesday, was not at last night’s hearing, which was held in a community room at police headquarters. He is eligible for parole after serving one-third of his sentence which began — after he pleaded no contest to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter — on Sept. 29, 2006.
Like Michael Derderian, Daniel M. Biechele, the band’s tour manager who set off the fireworks, was sentenced to four years in prison and is due to be released on parole in March. Jeffrey Derderian pleaded no contest to the same charges as the other two defendants but was given a sentence of community service and no jail time.
