Did Gayle And Oprah Break Up?
I have read in a few places today, with the first being the NY Post that Gayle King has moved into a a $7.1M New York penthouse that Oprah recently bought. Every blog that I have read says that Oprah did it because Gayle is her BFF or gay lover or whatever. If that were true, then why would Oprah send Gayle off to New York? If she is your BFF or gay lover or work wife or whatever the hell Gayle is, don't you think Oprah would want her close? Real close? Extra special close? Wake up in the morning together close?
Well, buying her a penthouse in New York kind of defeats that purpose. I have two theories, and they are just theories. Gayle and Oprah broke up and this was Gayle's going away gift. A place to live, but nothing more. Oprah owns it and if Gayle does something wrong, then bye bye penthouse. My other more whacked out Heather Mills type theory is that Gayle is going to run a domination boot camp and keep Rachael Ray's husband and Dr. Phil in line so they don't cause Oprah any additional problems. The penthouse is big enough for both of the men to scream and cry like babies, but is still right in Manhattan so they can keep their day jobs. If they act up, Gayle either beats them or forces them to watch Oprah introducing A list celebrities on a continuous loop.

EL, you're not up on your Oprah news. Gail has always lived in NYC. She runs O Magazine from NYC. And Oprah runs her from Chicago. ;-)
But I still like Option B. Can someone get on that?
Oprah also has several lavish homes and probably wanted a nice place in NYC where she can visit Gayle in style. O and GAYle don't need to be in the same city because Oprah works all the time and has money to fly out whenever she wants.
I'm pretty sick of these stupid Oprah/Gayle lesbian stories. It's sophomoric and not even interesting. They're FRIENDS, and behave like best friends typically do. Why is it that whenever people enjoy spending time together, they're somehow gay? It's like a neverending episode of 'Beavis and Butthead' every time you go looking a blog these days. Believe it or not, there are relationships out there which do not have any sort of element of sexuality invested in them.
Get a friend. They're nice.
I understand what kat is saying, however Oprah is the one who for years made a huge deal out her relationship with Steadman who was seemingly replaced by Gayle, who admits that her relationship with Oprah was one of the factors which ended her marriage. I love my best friend, but we do not prefer each other over our husbands. They also bragged about the diamond rings they bought each other and often wear coordinating outfits. This doesn't make them gay, but it does lead to the speculation.
I'm guessing that a privately owned penthouse is cheaper and safer and just more relaxing than a suite at the St. Regis. It's fairly common for wealthy people to do that in NYC.
If a half-way decent NYC hotel suite is $700-$2k a night, plus room service, why not invest the cash in a residence where you can keep your clothes, the housekeeper knows your preferences, you can conduct meetings and entertain and then deduct it?
Also, Oprah's new network is going to be based out of Manhattan and Gayle will have an executive position in the network as well.
So there's nothing unusual about Gayle being in Manhattan. It's where she NEEDS to be.
If they had broke up wouldn't the kiss off apartment go into Gayle's name? Even just to keep her from selling her story?

Well said, Kat. Couldnt agree with you more. They are friends and work together on projects also. Now, they may be extremely co-dependant on each other, which would explain why it caused problems with marriages etc, but that doesnt make them lesbians. Sheesh!
I agree with you both Kat and missbliss. Years ago there used to be rumours about me and my best friend... we thought it was hilarious. I bet Gayle and Oprah laugh about it.
Everyone needs to stay out of Oprah`s business. Many people (black men) see a black sucessful business woman and straight out call her a dike! There are so many black women that are like Oprah and Gayle and in an instint here comes the names! Im tired of hearing it. I know because I am a sucessful black business women and when I went back to my home town that was the first rumor that hit me. It was started by jealous people!
