So, what do you do to a guy that cheats on you upwards of 35 times during your marriage including with a teenager that he pays off with your money to keep silent? Oh, and for good measure he also abused your daughter and spent $40,000 a year of your money to watch porn. Why you pay him $2.1M is what you do.
So, basically, Peter Cook is laughing all the way to the bank. Does anyone really think he gives a crap about his kids? All he cared about was the money and he got it. Sure, he only gets to visit the kids when mom says it is ok, but he wasn't going to see them anyway. Christie Brinkley gets the kids and the properties but has to write a check to Peter for a couple of million.
Now Peter is free to move on to his latest woman who has even more money than Christie. He can kick back, get her to pay for some porn, cheat on her if they get married, and when they divorce get her for some money as well. So basically Peter is just a man whore. Something to be proud of I'm sure. Getting money from Christie in exchange for giving up something he didn't want anyway must have just given him the biggest smirk last night. What an ass.

-- $40K a year for porn for 10 years ($400K)
-- say another $150-300K annually for cheating with whomever (conservatively, $1.5M over the life of the marriage)
and lord knows what she spent to make him more successful than he really was. $5 mil? $10 mil?
$2.1 million starts to look like a bargain to have the trash hauled away.

Back in - what - 1985, 1984 - When CB and BJ first got together, there were these laughable stories about her being a klutz around him - and one of the stories was how she'd burned his hands with a cig (or something) - and the commentary was 'He's a lucky guy, he's with Christie Brinkley' - I remember thinking 'Now we're going to have to put up with 'Uptown Girl' and other horrible tunes like that for a while....'
I think she made this public just to force him to settle, the private detectives were to go on the stand today, he would have been cremated.
She paid him to go away. I don't think she's going to lose sleep over two million. She owns 18 houses in the Hamptons alone. She's a smart cookie, with bad choices in men. I hope she's not one of those women who feel if they are sleeping with someone they should marry them ugh.

i think he'll go through the motions of seeing the kids now but as they grow older, the every wednesday and every other weekend will turn into just the every other weekend. then it'll be one weekend a month, then only once in awhile. he'll wake up one morning, realize his kids are young adults with their own lives and interests that don't include him and the joke will be on him.

christie made the bulk of her money in real estate, i think that's how she met this assmonkey.
Zandra's right; $2.1M in 2008 dollars will look like peanuts in ten years, while her real estate and other equity holdings will have increased in value multiple times.
Remember he has to pay his legal bills out of this, and now his kids know their "devoted father" gave up his fight for them for peanuts.
His lawyers probably spent most of the last two days advising him that (a) their bill was only going to increase exponentially for every day they're in court and (b)if the P.I.'s testify and have photos and whatnot, the judge will rule against him entirely, he'll get nada and his reputation will be ruined (snort) and, most important (c) he's still gonna owe the lawyers mega bucks.
BTW, last week the NY papers reported he was having his nails done in a fancy upper East Side men's salon while talking on the phone about his case. Delusional much?
Snarky, you have a good point. 2 million is nothing compared to what he was costing her. She also made a fortune in realestate which he said he had helped pick out. somehow i dont think this is the last we will be hearing about money.
I'm hoping the settlement includes an agreement not to contest it and a silence clause as well. Not that he'd have much of anything disgraceful to say about Brinkley, I'm just tired of hearing from and about him.
Besides, he doesn't strike me as the sort who was sensible enough to document his "role" in the real estate purchase process. And I don't recall him doing anything else remotely architectural while he was married to her -- hence, no track record in the field to prove his value to her transactions.
He said yesterday he wished he could go back four years. When asked why, he said, "to be a man". I bet he spends a lot of time wishing coulda woulda shoulda, but he is just upset he got caught.
Ladies, I realize $2 mil to get rid of him looks like a bargain, but it would KILL me to hand over money to someone who was cheating on me. It's like, "you stabbed me in the back and now I'm gonna pay you???"

I know what you mean, but he's already exposed as a complete skank, so she probably feels some sense of payback. Even though it is a bit of a slap in the face to have to pay him, it's an awful lot easier to write a check (an amount she probably won't feel much pain over, for goodness sake, it's practically lunch money), than it would be if he had gotten more visitation. A cheap amount to be rid of him.

I'd be annoyed at having to give that cretin 2.1 cents, much less millions, but the blow is someewhat softened by:
1. The IRS is now after Peter for the $300,000 to the bimbo and several business dealings.
2. Realistically speaking, $2.1 million is taxi fare in today's economy.
3. Christie owns 18 properties in the Hamptons; sweet position to be in.
4. I'm sure she enjoyed dragging his dirty laundry out on the media's front lawn and letting every stray dog with a press pass play with it.

Bingo. Even better, she settled just before it was her turn under the microscope and according to one paper I read, it was a settlement they could easily have done eight months ago.
I felt from the beginning she wanted this to be made public so she could embarrass him in front of the Hampton community.
And now you have to ask why someone so beautiful, famous and wealthy is 0 for 4 in the marriage department. I think the men of America owe her four ex's a big thank you for keeping her off the market for so long. But now we're once again in jeopardy -- watch out guys. Here she comes again.

Perhaps, fellas, the situation might be that Christie is just attracted to rats, and she should rethink who she dates and marries. Just like the shrink said on the witness stand, she dates narcissistic men who need constant ego boosting. That quality is perhaps the very reason they chase beautiful women - temporary ego gratification, until that wears off and they have to find a new thrill. Again, certain types of guys can be so very, very attractive.

It is amazing how many people want to bash HER.....sad.....he is a skank and a perv....So she has been married a few times, but I am sure it is hard for a woman in her position to find an 'equal' financially, etc. She is reportedly brilliant too and I just think it would be more of a challenge for her. Billy Joel looked good having HER on his arm and I don't think he is that great. She was already wealthy when they met. Peter looked good, probably sounded good on paper and has probably been a perv that got away with it for a long time. Thankfully, she put it out in the open for the next dumb female to try to ignore.
