NY Daily News Blind Item

What designer's grandson was a "tiny terror" at Super Saturday in the Hamptons last weekend? As Lorraine Bracco, Christy Turlington, Kelly Ripa and 1,500 others shopped at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund benefit, "The kid was a category 5 tornado," one shocked shopper tells us, "knocking over clothing and displays." He then lifted a woman's dress, and, the source adds: "Neither his mother nor a nanny bothered to intercede. [The mom] didn't seem the slightest bit embarrassed." Finally, after several hours of misdeeds, the child was taken home.

Sounds like most of the privileged kids I've seen these days. I risk their parents' wrath by speaking up. I can't tolerate parents smiling while their kids tear things apart. I have 3 kids, and they turned out just fine while still hearing the occasional "No" and being led firmly away from a place where they couldn't control their behavior.

Billy Joel doesn't have a five year old.

Donna Karan seems to be well-liked by the stars, is she a Grandma?

How 'bout Ralph Lauren?

Billy Joel isn't a DESIGNER.

Kid has obviously never heard the word no (or did his mother). It's a great word and it works - ask my kids.

You're early Ent....got court today?

Aren't Joel's kids 'designers'? In that same way that say some celeb gets a honorary degree... anyway - going to go with a Lauren-ite...

Ralph Lauren has four kids, three of whom are (cough) in my age range, which makes them plenty old enough to have kids of their own. I don't know whether any of them DO have kids of their own, though...

I can't think of any other well-known designers who could have grandchildren. Does Anna Wintour count as a "designer"?

GAWD, I wish people would control their children!

Don't know who this is, but they should punished. Maybe a pummeling with hundreds of tiny fists, while, "It's a Small World" plays in the background.

Billy Joel has 1 daughter--Alexa Ray, & she is in her 20's.

But why torture a kid at something like this? Get a playdate or something!

What everyone else said: And in the child's defense, he was probably bored out his skull.

I have two kids under five. I am a tough disciplinarian. But I also know that most normal children misbehave when they are hungry, thirsty, tired or bored. I will not tolerate meanness or disrespect, but I also cut some slack when they've had to miss a nap, or they've been confined to their carseats for three hours.

Still, I think more parents need to be tougher.

I can think of at least 20 designers that have grandchildren, but I am going with Betsy Johnson's little joy.

It was a benefit, which is no place for small children. Mom gets a spanking.

Ughhh the source is obviously uneducated.. "Category 5 Tornado"

Tornadoes are rated on an EF 0-5 scale. Hurricanes are rated by Categories 1-5. Common knowledge people come on! LMAO

moonmaid, it's not just the privileged. doesn't seem to matter what class they come from. as someone who's not too steady on my feet (not to mention a fall could be pretty bad news for me) i'm constantly tormented by the monstrous behavior of other people's children. ESPECIALLY those wearing those damned roller shoes in markets and what not.
i was raised to be polite and calm in public, as were my kids. i just don't get it.
