I'm A Little Confused Again
Another Jennifer, but this time I am confused about Jennifer Love Hewitt. No, not why she had to spend every night with her mom until she reached 27, but instead something else.
I saw that US Weekly cover yesterday of her and didn't really pay attention to it, because, well, hell it's Jennifer Love Hewitt. But, then as is the case when I have had a drink or four I started thinking about what she said last year when she was teased for looking large in a swimsuit. Not on this site by the way, but every other site in the free world.
She said that people are beautiful no matter their size. I agree which is why I didn't trash her size and never do, except for Val Kilmer, oh, and Jason Lewis when he looked bloated a few weeks ago. If everyone looked the same it would be a boring place.
Anyway, she went on and on about the same type of theme as what I just wrote and all the magazines loved her and she just was seen as an example of loving yourself no matter your size. So, the next thing you know she is on the cover of US bragging about how she lost 18 pounds in 10 weeks.
Umm, why? And why the cover? Look, if you are unhappy with your weight or your appearance, then change it. I'm not pissed at Jennifer for losing the weight. That is her decision to make. What I am pissed at is that she went around blasting the world for calling people fat and now she is on the cover of a weekly tabloid basically taking a jab at anyone who also can't lose 18 pounds in ten weeks. She spent her money and hired a trainer and had US following her around and she became the embodiment of what she was trashing last year.
Why couldn't she lose the weight quietly and with no publicity? That would have been fine. Instead she is telling the world, "You know what? I was fat last year and now I want to show you what you are supposed to look like. What? You can't lose 18 pounds in ten weeks? Why? Are you a loser or something? You don't have 8 hours a day to devote to nothing else but losing weight and hiring a trainer and a chef?"
That is what she is doing. To me she has taken all of the good things she did last year and has become nothing more than a hypocrite.

I like JLH and respected her comments on the situation last year. It must have bothered her more than she let on. I kind of wished she didn't go on the cover, but, at least this way, the tabs won't start wondering if she developed an eating disorder.
I agree and disagree. I did like what she said last year, but honestly what are you supposed to say when the whole world just called you fat? Like she's going to come out and say that she hates herself and she's been trying really hard to lose weight? Uh, no. I too was thrown off by the whole I lost weight cover though too. Although if she did lose the weight and didn't say anything, wouldn't she then look like a hypocrite? This way she gets her 'story' out first. But as a woman, I think go her for losing the weight and looking fab. *shrugs*

I just think this is a typical PR move when your female client is called "fat" by the media. It's so bloody boring.
1. Have female celebrity go on and on that people are beautiful no matter their size = magazines eat this up, people relate to anyone with a "weight" problem.
2. Employ personal trainer and cook for female celebrity, lose the weight = more press coverage.
Look at Queen Latifah, Tyra Banks, Kirstie Alley...I'm sure the list goes on.
Yawn. I'm sure the next female celebrity who gets called "fat" follows the same pattern.

I was a bit bummed when I saw the PR machine on this one - if she wanted to lose it more power to her but agree with the thought of a major flip-flop on her part.
I'm really just pissed off that all she had to lose was 18 lbs and she looks like that...

Given that this is Jennifer Love Hewitt, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she lost the weight just so she could be on the cover. This is the girl who carries tabloids around with her as props to up her odds of getting them to publish a picture of her.

It sucks that very few women - and it seems none in Hollywood - can truly like themselves if they don't conform to the optimal body type of the moment. Whether you're naturally a size 0 or a size 22, strut your stuff, ladies! Life's too short for idiots like JLH.
She would have gotten a lot more positive press if she'd simply said, I didnt feel good about myself so I did what it took to feel better. A nice body through hard work is something to be proud of, but please, don't lie to me like that and say it wasn't because people called you fat.

but ya if you want to be a champion to women don't do it in 10 weeks, take your time and do it like normal chicks and THEN do the cover with a story about how hurt she was.

I'm actually wondering if she *gained* weight between the time those bikini pictures came out and when she decided to lose 18 pounds. Some of the "before" pics I've seen of her (in February, I think, in a white dress) versus the bikini pics (in November) seem like she's bigger.
Just a thought . . . Otherwise, I think it's unfortunate that she's trying to defend her normal body and then feels like she has to cave and conform.

Hello...she lives in Hollywood, where they are paid to torment our children with impossible expectations. I'm sure she was devastated when everyone was making fun of her. I don't care how confident you are, that shit hurts and especially on every supermarket and drugstore counter in America. If you walk around all day with everyone calling you fat--you feel fat. Actually, the doctors suggest you lose one to two pounds a week. It sounds like she did it sensibly. Also, why would anyone complain about an actress trying to get publicity? Isn't that what they do? I really don't care one way or the other about her as an actress. Do we have to blast them when they gain weight and then kick their asses around when they try to get into shape? No wonder Mariah Carey and Lindsay Lohan are nuts.
Jax, 18 pounds in 10 weeks is actually normal. 1-2 pounds weight loss a week is just fine. When you are slightly overweight, and you start eating right and exercising, you will lose that much weight in the beginning. However, to me it looks more like 25 pounds, but then pictures are hard to tell by.
Maybe she's one of the too much blow blinds of yesteryore?
