Love love love the Olympics. I cannot wait to see it on tv tonight. The pictures are stunning.
wow that is pretty spiff! well is did cost upwards of $300M right? i think it was 2 or 300M.
Jax, and yesterday we were complaining about the $50,000. :) I'm playing ostrich and ignoring all the political and environmental concerns and just enjoying the show. If I feel guilty, that makes it okay, right?
i could give a fuck about anything olympic related. seeing as vancouver is getting the winter ones in 2010 and every single damn penny the city has is going into it while everyone ignores the HUGE drug/mental health issues on the lower east side...its a disgrace.
jax-
in '84 when L.A. hosted, the mayor was so concerned about about how we looked, they went out and got the homeless off the streets, bought them new outfits and painted over the graffiti.
do i need to tell you what happened after the athletes and tourists left town?????
on the news today the said the opening ceremonies were the most expensive EVER. ALSO, mr. bunny says china tried to hire spielberg to do the whole thing, and he considered it, they kept coming to him with more and more money, but he just couldn't do it because of the whole tibet thing.
interesting.
please tell me somebody got a picture of the smirk on Bush's face when he knew he was on camera while Iraq was entering. what a dick.
WOW!!! Gorgeous!
I am dying to go to China.
The opening ceremony was amazing, jaw-dropping...awe inspiring. There are some tall boots to fill. China set the bar pretty high. I heard they spent 10 times the amount Athens did 4 years ago. Wow. I am now totally into the Olympics this go around...thanks in part to the opening ceremony. Call me a sucker, I don't care. GO USA!
