The Real Reason Why She Named Her Son Zuma

Yeah, read what you want from all the baby experts about how Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale named their kid after Zuma Beach in Malibu or the Neil Young album of the same name. A bunch of crap if you ask me. Gwen and Gavin are children of the 80's and 90's. As such, they really wanted to name their kid Zima. Sure they did. Sitting there for the nine months of pregnancy, Gwen and Gavin would sit around and discuss all the good times they had sipping on Zimas with their friends.

I don't remember Zima coming in cans. Whatevs

I just think that Gavin in all his copious freetime was playing yahoogames all day.

OMG, that was my first thought when I heard the name too. Enty, you are in my head.

It's a stupid name. Even poor Zowie Bowie changed his name to Joey.
Kingston & Zuma sound like names for greyhounds, not kids.

Nesta is Bob Marley's middle name.
better as a first name than Zuma.

anyone remember the show "Zoom"? The opening song was "We're gonna Zoom, Zoom, Zooma Zoom!" That's what came to mind.
I agree with jax. Nesta is much better.

the name is hideous .. dont these people think at all about the kid when he first goes to school and they read his name for roll and everyone cracks up .. its bad, I understand their love for all things marley with kingston being the place he was born and nesta being his middle name . then why not just name the kid bob marley .. on the same subject, i recently heard, and this is no lie, that a friends 18 year old daughter named her baby oceaniac .. you know after the lost airline .. what happened to good old fashion names like dweezel?

sounds like the name of a raffi song.

Why not cut to the chase and just name the kid "Bong Hit"?

lol@bong hit.

When I heard the news of the baby's name this morning in the news I just rolled up my eyes and said to myself Whyyyyyyy.

I LOVED that show Zoom...even had a book that duplicated skits so I could do that when the show wasn't on...sigh...life was much easier then..

i feel like this is a "celebrity trend". I'm all for being different. For god sake why would ever name your kid "Pilot Inspector"(jason Lee), or Moxie Crimefighter (Penn Jillette) I just don't get it.

If they named the kid Nesta, in school he's sure as hell gonna be called Nasty. Better to name him Marley and be done with it. But then kids may bark at him because of the Marley and Me book/movie. That poor kid is doomed. If you're gonna name your kid something retarded, you shouldn't have kids.

My first thought when I read what name was Zuma(Zima) and Nesta(Nestea). He is names after beverages.

penn jillette named his kids moxie crimefighter and
zolten penn.

zuma nesta (yeaaah.com said it sounded like a sleeping aid! i thought that was brilliant!) now sounds lovely in comparison!

jimmy buffett's adopted son is cameron marley.
just had to throw that one in, again, useless font.

What really saddens me the most is how much I LOVE the name Kingston Rossdale, and how Zuma Nesta ROCK Rossdale just totally, totally, totally blows a big choad in comparison.

I'm OK with the occasional typo but Emma, c'mon. EVERYONE knows it's spelled with a K: Inspektor.

Sheesh.

does it really make a difference, jerry? the name is weird using a 'k' or a 'c'. that was Emma's point.

anytime, emma. ;)

Um. I got the feeling that Jerry was obviously being sarcastic and pointing out the general irony of mispelling a name like Pilot Inspektor, since the name is so absurd to begin with. I'm pretty sure he wasn't hating on anyone or inferring that Emma was some big dummy.

I guess I'm more adept at understanding sarcasm than some other people, though.

Thanks, Ernestine.

No worries, Jerry. I'm fluent in sarcasm.
