What Do You Think?
The NY Post is reporting today that Lou Pearlman is teaming up with Real World creator Jonathon Murray to pitch a new reality show which would be like Making The Band but with Lou offering advice over the phone instead of in person. While I personally think Lou is one of the most evil people to ever set foot on the planet and wish he would just rot in his tiny jail cell for his entire 25 year sentence, I also realize that there are a lot of people who are barely making ends meet because he stole $300 million of their hard earned dollars. Lou wouldn't get to keep any of the money he earns from the show because every dollar he would make would go to those people from whom he stole.
So far, Lou has not repaid any money to the investors he defrauded. This would at least give them the chance to get some money back. On the other hand, Lou gets his sentence reduced by a month for every million dollars that he repays and I really don't want to see this guy set free ever again, or become a celebrity or listen to a bunch of interviews with him where he says that he is just trying to help his victims. I don't think he is actually doing it for them. I think he is doing it for himself, but at the same time, I do want the people he defrauded to have a chance in getting back some of their money so I guess he should get a chance to do the show.
Oh, you want to know the kicker? The band the show is about is called Biteboy. They tried to become famous by writing a song about the Caylee Anthony case. So, you have a band that tried to exploit a murder for fame and money and an a-hole who screwed over thousands of people to line his own pockets. Nice combination.
So. What do you think? Let him do the show or let him rot in his cell?

Anyone who is trying to make money off a little girl who was murdered by her mother should rot too...maybe they should be put in there with Lou...

I agree with Enty 100%. But I think they should trick Ron. Instead of taking a year off his sentence for every million he pays off, they should add a year instead... And when he bitches about it, they should just tell him it was a misunderstanding, just like it was a misunderstanding that he stole people's money.

This sucks. I say let him rot but instead of taking time off of his sentence for every million he repays he should have a month added for every million he doesn't repay. THAT would be fair.

Or ask his victims how they feel about it.
If he gets one month off his sentence per million, fine.
Meanwhile, lawyers could start investigating the sexual misconduct we've heard about over the years.
He finishes his sentence and Blam! A new one.

But can't a band be picked that has some decency?
I am usually on the side of being compassionate, but in this case, I think he should rot, baby, rot.
He'll probably figure out a way to NOT pay his victims, anyway.
I think there should be a reality show that follows him around prison, into the mess hall and not neglecting the showers, exhibiting his powerlessness in that setting. There would be a lot more viewers of that reality than of some stupid, exploitive boy band.

Let him make the money, although I'm sure my FIL is so low on the totem pole he'll still never see any of it.

I think the victims should have a say in it. I say rot, but they might see it differently if they thought they could recoup their money.
ITA with AnnMarie for exactly the reasons she stated, as well as the scenario. But victims would have to come forward and I think the majority won't.

The November 2007 issue of Vanity Fair magazine investigated the claims and found allegations of such conduct made by several former boy band members, including Rich Cronin member of the band LFO, 13-year-old members of Take 5, an early member of the Backstreet Boys, and Nick Carter.[99] Despite the innuendo and rumors (molesting Nick Carter, and Lance Bass) that dogged him for years, Pearlman was only threatened with going public a few times. At one point an unidentified male singer or singers (it is unknown how many) threatened Pearlman with going public. J. Cheney Mason, Pearlman's long time attorney, confirmed that the situation was turned over to the FBI for investigation as a possible extortion. No charges were ever filed, however, and nothing came out in public. It is unclear if any future charges may be filed in relation to the claims.
