This pregnant reality star was chugging glass after glass of white wine like she was dying of thirst.

Talk about heartburn!

People like this- that can't even give up alcohal for 9 months- don't deserve to have children. Even if they're an alcohalic. No excuse.

Bethenny Frankel? Has she never heard of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? Argh, what an ass!

sick sick sick

I am sorry, but she really deserves the C U Next Tuesday Title.

Is Katie Price officially pregnant? Haha, like she'd be invited to Fashion Week.

Majik said...

Why would people continue to serve her? Seriously...time to take some responsibility for the unborn.

twocents said...

Definitely BF. Interestingly enough, Bethenny kinda looks like she might have suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome...

why is everyone so sure it's her? she's always been such a health nut and has wanted a baby so much, this surprises me.

if she had A glass of wine, i'd say no big deal. the OB's i worked with said it was ok to have a glass of wine now and then---but guzzling it, no.

emily said...

i kind of agree with nancer but i can't think of anyone else it would be.

Is Tila Tequila claiming to be pregnant this week?

linnea said...

eah GWG - but who would invite her to fashion week?

Green Wave Gal said...

Linnea--I'm guessing she doesn't have to be invited to show up! :)

I hope this whole blind was a misunderstanding on someone's part. Sometimes at events all beverages are served in wine glasses. Hopefully it was just juice.

Any doctor that says it's okay to have a glass of wine now and then should lose his/her license. There is no proven "safe" amount to drink and the human race is notorious for thinking "if one is okay then 2 should be fine". Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is rampant in my area and I just feel sick when I think of parents that do this. Okay...rant over. Thanks for reading.

nancer said...

lose their license? that's fucking ridiculous. having a glass or 2 of wine while you're pregnant is NOT going to cause fetal alcohol syndrome. and i'm talking about very LITTLE alcohol---maybe a holiday dinner or something and you have a glass of wine.
get your facts straight. that's a gross overreaction, really. and i'm an L&D nurse in a large medical center so i'm not talking out my ass.

Jingle belle you're a idiot. Sounds like you were a fas baby yourself.

Normally I stay out of discussions when other members are calling out other readers but that is just rude. As a person who has worked in a field that deals with children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, studies show that there is NO safe amount of Alcohol. So those who do say its okay still really need to become re-educated. So what if you work in a large medical center when is the last time you had briefing or course regarding FASD? Jingle Belle sounds like a person who is up to date on the research regarding FASD for the fact that she even knows the current name for it. Sorry for the rant but this is an issue as an educatator and parent that irks me, it's 100% perventable disease but yet still runs rampant.

Also sorry for the spelling errors didn't take the time to proof read. I am also not trying to start a war of words but this something I am passionate about.

What's up with the community pms this week? Or are these the symptoms of Enty Withdrawal? :) Why can't we all just get alooooooooong?

My parent's didn't drink while I was being hatched, but they both smoked like hams. I like to blame a lot of my problems on that. :-/

haha @ Mango~ seriously! I came across a pic of my mom last yr and she was smmoking a cigerette or joint (who knows) and now i blame being held back in the 3rd grade on her!!!

but seriously i do know that my mom drank occasionally whilst pregger with me and i was supposed to be born mid OCT and was not delievered until Nov 17th AND it was induced. Even born at 10 months i weighted 6 lbs so.... i doubt anything at all is good for the baby but who knows, right? Maybe i was just a kid that had to cook longer in the 'oven' .
i still blame that bitch for the 3rd grade though, hahahah lol

linnea said...

well correct me if i am wrong (and considering the tone in this conversation, someone will for sure)
but when you say "there is no safe amount" you mean that if you say one is ok, someone will think its ok to have three?

We just had a nurse in who specialized in this, and she said on the air that NO amount was safe, but when we talked in private she said that physically, for the baby, one glass was no problem at all. The problem is that women (especially those who are not well educated) think that they might as well have more and THATS when the problem appears.

Lioness70 said...

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I think it's perfectly OK to have a small glass of wine or a mixed drink, if you're at a party or a holiday dinner, just before the baby is born. For the rest of the pregnancy, no way. And if you've had problems with alcohol before you got pregnant, no fucking way!

I'm not in the medical field, but doesn't FAS happen because the mother is drinking steadily throughout the entire pregnancy? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jingle Belle said...

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I work with 2 FASD specialists and I've seen the damage that can be done to these unborn babies. My son's best friend goes into black rages and has actually hit his adopted mother and it all stems back to FASD.

The main point I was trying to make is, why would you take the chance? If you are trying to get pregnant or there is a possibility that you could get pregnant, stop drinking. Most of the damage is done during the first trimester, often when the woman doesn't even know she is pregnant.

And, yes, linnea, that was the other point I was making...people always think "if one is okay, two should be fine". Drunk drivers do that all the time.

MCH said...

I hope its not BF, I like her! And no, that would not make sense with all her Skinny Girl philosophy.

@ Danielle, I agree completely.

I have always HEARD that it is ok to have a glass of wine but for me personally its never something that I would even dare risk if I was pregnant.

My mom drank when she was pregnant with my brother. His hands have always shaken...all the time. We believe it's from the wine.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I consider myself pretty darn well informed on FASD, having worked in a maternity drug/alcohol rehab center (and being aware of the name does not an expert make), and "any amount of alcohol" is NOT the cause. A woman must a) drink a substantial quantity of alcohol, with binge drinking being most commonly associated, and b) be carrying a child with a genetic sensitivity to alcohol. There are women who drink themselves blind every day and DON'T get a child with FASD, but there are NOT women who have two glasses of wine every few weeks and have a terribly ill child. Alcohol is simply not that teratogenic. Actually, some research has shown that its the behaviors associated with alcoholism and poverty (being unable to get proper nutrition, exposure to banned chemicals, infection) is far more closely correlated with severity of FASD than amount of alcohol consumed.

If a woman chooses not to drink at all during her pregnancy, pat her on the back and buy her a extra-large Jamba Juice. But let's not villianize every pregnant woman- it's a stressful enough time.
