Katherine Heigl Finally Makes It Official

In what has to be the most drawn out departure from a television show, Katherine Heigl made it official this week when she said she has left Grey's Anatomy and won't be back. Last year she wanted out because she wanted to do movies. That didn't really work out well for her publicity wise and her movie career has stalled badly. Oh, and she still had two years on her contract. Now though she has a great excuse. She says she wants to spend more time with her adopted daughter and doesn't want to work full-time anymore. That is much more publicity friendly. It still won't help her movie career though. Lets face it. In the movies she has one character. She plays the parts Jennifer Aniston either turns down or for which the producers don't have Jennifer Aniston money.

Is she the answer to that blind about Meth? Not sure if she qualifies but that would be great.

Finally. . .she's been threatening this since she's joined the show.

Good riddance, I say. Now she and T.R. Knight can make a movie together.

I have tried to like her, I really have. Something about her.

I think one of Heigl's biggest problems is that she is so unlikeable as a person, and it's so well known, that it adversely affects her movie career. She was in the lowest grossing movie of all time, supposedly, and that's gotta hurt. But good luck to her!

One more reason to like Jennifer Aniston, then.

I like her, and I think they should have written her a better ending on the show. And lets face it Greys is quite lame lately so I can't blame her.

DON'T LIKE HER...BUT THERE WAS A BLIND THAT REESE LOST A PART TO HER...

She may play that "one character" but she does them so well. I actually prefer her over Aniston any day. I thought she was charming and likable in Knocked Up.

aniston has a formula that works for her...if that's where she's happy, more power to her. at least she knows how to make herself likable onscreen. heigl has yet to mature to that point.

She gets the parts Aniston is too OLD for. I am indifferent to Heigel cause I don't watch Grey's Anatomy so she never really bothered me, as much as she has others. I thought she was good in the movie 27 Dresses. It was a cute movie. Predictable but cute nonetheless.
If she really is taking the time off to be with her new daughter than good for her, but that means we better not see her popping on any red carpets, premieres, etc.

What a fake image and horrible cover story. No one cares or will believe that picture. (She's not a good brunette either.) When did EW become a celebrity shill machine?! (In comparison to an entertainment property promotion machine.) Very disappointed!

But J. Aniston is looking awesome for her age.
She has one of the best bodies in Hollywood - EVER - and I've seen unretouched photos of her face and her skin looks way younger than her age, especially considering she's a smoker.

The only thing is that by being so super fit & toned, she also lost a lot of weight in face, which make her features look harsher.

Ugh. I know there's a lot of Jennifer Aniston lovers out there, but I am so ready for her to go away. It's not like her romantic comedies are any good either. I'd rather watch "27 Dresses" every day for a week than anything with Jennifer Aniston. Except for "Good Girl." But that wasn't her trying to be cute, she actually had to act and she was pretty good.

I never watched Grey's Anatomy before, But I think she does her 1 character movie role well. She also has a beautiful figure--I like the fact that she isn't a plastic bobble head.

THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now can she just drop off the face of the Earth and disappear from everything else, as well?

or is that too much for me to ask?

Heigl's unlikeable persona may be well known here, but the rest of the world (my aunt, my dental hygienist, Kneepads subscribers) think she's an angel who totally deserved her Emmy. Personally, I don't think her movie career has stalled - though her films are not my cup of tea, I think she's just as competent as Hudson, Hathaway, SJP, and all the other chick flick nitwits. The Ugly Truth is on par with Bride Wars in awfulness, sure, but 27 Dresses and Knocked Up were just as good as How to Lose a Guy, Family Stone, etc. Heigl is BETTER than Aniston, and much easier on the eyes.

Yeah I can't stand the Hag, but people go and see her (despite what I keep telling them!)

Good riddance on TV. Here's hoping the movies fail. And her excuse for spending time with family doesn't ring true when she said that she hopes she made the right decision. Spending more time parenting your child is always the right decision.

I want to add that I like a couple Aniston movies including Along Came Polly and The Good Girl. She does have a great body, Shmooey. However her face has major work - some kind of weird botox or other filler. I hate it.

I didn't even miss her from this season, just assumed she had shifted to guest star status to begin with so this "news" gets filed under BFD to me.

I do think that she is making a massive financial mistake. She was getting paid very well to do very little and considering the many up and downs her career has had, this was probably her last chance of a sustained career (especially since her "movie" career is anemic at best). I could be wrong but I suspect in about two years we will be going Catherine who? once again as occured after her first act (Roswell, etc) ended.

If she really does take time off, and not do anything but take care of her daughter, then good on her. But, if this is just an excuse to get out of her contract so she can do movies then I'm going to dislike her even more than I already do.

Wouldn't steady, regular work on a tv show, where you always work in the same place and have normal hours (on an ensemble show like Grey's where she's not in a lot of scenes) be better for raising a family than movies where you're going off to different locations and working all over the world, and have to film at all hours? Haven't many actresses given family as their reason for taking a steady television role and giving up movies?

Aniston's career has been over for some time now. The only reason she still gets work is because she brings with her a built in PR/Marketing campaign. She's been hammering the nails in her career coffin ever since her divorce with bad film after bad film. Heigel is just flat our unlikeable, and she's had all of 2 good films. Wanting to be a Mom is just a good excuse to use to hide the fact that the work has dried up for her.

Aniston was really good in He's Just Not That Into You and Friends With Money, both of which I thorougly enjoyed. I don't hate on her; nor do I hate on Katherine Heigl.

Grey's Anatomy does suck and the writing the year she was nominated wasn't worth the Emmy, and Knocked Up did make the women seem like annoying, uptight shrews. So, I gotta say, I kind of agree with this broad and her two controversial statements. And I do think it's refreshing when someone in Hollywood actually says what they think rather than be a cookie cutter vapid mouthpiece for a network or a brand.

If I was Katherine Heigl, I would try to do a period piece or something in which I had to learn an accent so that I would be taken seriously as an actor.

She's icky.

I don't know how her film career has stilled...since her last film was a hit and she is currently filming...

Please tell me how has it stalled.

Someone takes a break and all of a sudden their career is slowed down...okay...good one.

Correction: Jennifer Aniston plays the parts for which the producers don't have Katherine Heigl money. Heigl made $12M each for her last two films. Aniston made just $8M for "The Bounty Hunter" and "The Baster."
