The Hoff Returns To Young & The Restless

If actors had not waited so long to return to their roots and appear on soaps they had once departed, I think that some of the soap operas could have been saved. For the ones that have remained, the times are good right now as actors are showing the love to places that gave them their start.

The latest "name" to return is The Hoff. As we speak he is on Young & The Restless which is where he began his career many, many years before he drove a talking car or ogled women in red bathing suits.

Here is the promo for this week.

And here is The Hoff back in the day.

Snapper was so hot.

I cannot believe that the Hoff was Snapper. Oh now I remember he was the "other" Snapper. The original Snapper was William Gray Espy.

Those were fun times when we were introduced to soap operas by our mom.

hey, it's a gig.

if it makes him feel better claiming it's a 'return to his roots', then knock yourself out. rehab ain't cheap.

lol @ not on my dollar. Kids just don't watch soaps with their moms these days. Mine was an All My Children freak and I watched the whole Luke and Laura romance on GH one summer.

Cheryl, Moms don't watch soap operas anymore because they're either at work, or watching cable programs, or tweeting.

I miss the good ole days.

And by the way I think I've watched all or almost all of the soap operas sometime in my life. I especially remember the excitement of having a day off from work to "treat" myself to catching up on my favorite soap opera.

Why did the Hoff leave 'America's Got Talent'? I do think Howie is much better, did the Hoff demand more money?

In the last shot of that promo clip, the Hoff looks half in the bag!

James Franco made it "cool" to be on soaps.

I don't think it's the actors, it is the industry that treats soaps like the bastard child of networks. So once actors go primetime they distance themselves from their past.

Plus they have to work year round for low six figures and lots of backstage politiking.

I don't think Josh Duhamel would give up his Transformers franchise for All My Children. But it would be nice :)

@ali, I think Hoff lost his job on AGT because of his drinking problem.

His name was "Snapper" OMG that is too effing funny! The only image that comes to mind is a big, red fish, lol.

My mom's soap was As the World Turns when I was tiny. I glommed onto my aunt's favorite, Y&R because of Michael Damian, then B&B because of the two hot brothers. I haven't had time for that since the 80's.

This brings back so many memories for me. I used to watch Y&R with my mom. Right now I have been trying to catch Days of Our Lives as they have been bringing back so many characters from the past so that they can say good bye to Alice Horton. It has been heart breaking to see so many faces from the past and all the flashbacks.
