Jeremy Piven Drops Phone In Toilet - Gets Restaurant Staff To Get It Out

Jeremy Piven spent Saturday night in a sushi restaurant. While there, The New York Post says he used the bathroom. Probably to check for mercury poisoning. At some point in this process he dropped his cell phone into the toilet. Unwilling to get it out himself he called some of the restaurant staff to fish it out for him. He then had them pack it in rice to dry it out. That actually works by the way. I don't know if I would ever call someone to come get my phone out of a toilet. I think I would either handle the job myself or just write off the phone.

It does work. The first thing to do is get your battery out pronto, dry everything, and then pack it in rice. Sometimes takes a few days. Never use a hairdryer.

So why is the Piv eating sushi again. Got another play to blow off?

ya he tweeted this, what a dumb f-ck.

how does he do it? how does one of the best characters on tv,most loved btw, end up being such a douche IRL i can hardly look at him?

if he's not Ari,he's dead to me.

i hate this douche

To be honest, I would probably do it myself . . . or ask the kitchen staff for a set of tongs, which I would, of course, replace.

I think he is so full of himself at this point he would make an assistant wipe his ass 3x a day if he could.

I can't wait until Entourage is over and he goes back to being John Cusack's lesser famous freind.

Shyness- my thought exactly.

Also- I probably wouldn't have had my phone out when I was going to the potty.

I would have pushed his own hand in the toilet, and taken my firing with a smile.

A few seasons back I used to enjoy watching Entourage. The last couple of seasons I muscled through it out of some odd sense of loyalty to the show, not out of enjoyment. This past Monday (I tivoed it Sunday night), I watched it again. Half way in I realized that I can no longer stand the show, in large part due to this midget's smugness (no disrespect to little people). Although a lot of it is just due to how boring the story is and how ridiculous the characters have become. It was a little liberating to hit "Cancel Series" on my remote. Buh-bye Piven. Adrien, I still hope to see you some day at the food co-op in Brooklyn. Not that I believe you ever actually work there.

He told the press he'd ordered vegetarian sushi.

With the lies and manueuvers this yutz is responsible for, if you were Piven would you take the slightest chance of leaving your phone anywhere? BTW, this means he was using the toilet and not the urinal, right? Since this story got out, I'm guessing he did not leave an extra tip for the staff. Not that there's an amount large enough....

I thought of the urinal/toilet thing too, weezy, and I'm thinking that rather than have the staff - or myself - fishing in there among the kids in the pool, I'd just say 'bye' to the phone.

if he called me in, i would have taken a piss then left...i can get another job.

That's because you are not a celebrity. If you're ever lucky enough be rich and or famous chances are things like fetching your phone out of a restaurant toilet won't be on your to do list.

The guys is just plain gross and nasty eewwwww.

lmnop123 said...

Okay I just read this again and I don't believe it could have possibly went down this way.

He drops the phone, leaves the restaurant to call them and tell someone at the restaurant to go get the phone that's sitting in a public toilet where anybody could get it and find his personal info?

Just doesn't make sense. I don't believe he'd actually leave the restaurant or the bathroom without his cell phone.

@not on my dollar

The story is true. He actually tweeted about it.

Princess Shyness said...

@vikingwench: yeah, that's all kind of gross. Hopefully, he wasn't sexting anybody.

KLM said...

@not on my dollar... I think you misunderstood the story. It doesn't say he left the restaurant, it says that he was unwilling to fish the cell phone out of the toilet himself, so he called someone for help. Presumably this means that he left the bathroom for a moment and approached a waiter or maitre d' and asked for help. He never left the restaurant, at least not without first having staff retrieve his telephone.

There's something wrong with the employee who agreed to do it.

Surely no employer would fire an employee after they explained what the request had been...?

...cuz here's the thing. He must not have flushed yet, or the phone would have gone down. So that means the employee had to reach down there, where there was not only a phone but 1+ turds, and grab it. I mean, really.

lmnop123 said...

If this story is true than he is truly ignorant for repeating it.

Thank God he isn't someone that I admire. The only time I've ever paid attention to him was when he played Adam on Ellen's show. Now I don't care about him or his shenanigans.

Anyone like to bet he was doing coke in there? I once knocked my phone in the toilet doing a line off the back of the toilet seat, and know two other people who have done the same (yes, it was a long time ago) - Piven in a stall, known drug user, drops it in? Slam dunk (pun intended) to me.

lmnop123 said...

@rocketqueen, Now THAT makes sense to me.

trouble bubble said...

@RocketQueen That's the whole new perspective of the story and it actually makes sense.

Linnea said...

@RQ aaaah, it all makes sense now!

But I have to admit... I HAVE dropped stuff in the toilet (not a phone though) and gotten it up myself. Not after number two, but after number one... *blushes*

PotPourri said...

Is he going to get more Mercury Poisoning? Did not one of these reporters get that?

nancer said...

the funniest part of the story to me is that he was eating sushi again. doesn't he know how dangerous that is for him? why, it almost KILLED him before.

lol.

Hopefully the employee who picked up his phone went on to prepare his meal... without washing first.

KLM - I feel ya. Entourage was once funny and entertaining. It's been atrocious for a couple seasons now.

whether he was doing coke or actually going to the bathroom, why would you care to fish the phone out other than to save some plumbing? maybe i'm a germaphobe, but i wouldn't be too eager to use a phone that's been in ANY toilet, especially a public one!

considering the money he has, i would have figured he'd call it a loss and get a new phone. unless, he was getting his dealers number off the old one? that i could understand.

jess said...

Why do the staff need to take out his phone? I wouldn't do it, it's not part of my job. RocketQueen's take on this makes sense.

KellyLynn said...

If he's doing a line off of the back of the toilet, he shouldn't be so worried about germs that he can't put his hand in. While a toilet flush sends materials into the air, few people clean the entire surface of the toilet well enough for that to be sanitary. Just sayin'.

In any case, if he keeps some highly personal stuff on his phone (compromising pictures, drug dealer phone numbers), I can see why he would rather retrieve it than just let it go.

@KellyLynn - coke users really don't care about that stuff - take a piece of toilet paper, maybe spit on the tank and wipe off a clean spot. I fished my phone out myself, as did my friends, hoping desperately it would be fine after it dried out. If the top of a toilet paper dispenser is flat, it's preferable to use rather than the back of the toilet tank, but sometimes it's already coated in gunk or not flat-topped. I don't miss those days.
My guess is there was nothing in the toilet, and he should have fished it out him damn self!

Tenley said...

I am guessing whoever fished it out had on at least one of those pairs of see-through dime-a-dozen restaurant kitchen gloves that cooks sometimes wear -- or better, those heavy duty yellow industrial gloves washers wear in the kitchens. I mean there are ways the restaurant might have done this and/or had to do it in the past for a Star.

As for Entourage, I used to love the show and can't believe they can take something with so much possibility -- I mean the things they could do on that show are endless and everyones' fantasies -- and make it so sluggish and just boring. How is that possible. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I mean HOW?

Maybe he was doing lines off the back of the phone? (Sniiiiif!) "Whoah!" (Bloop!) "Oh, shit!"

Wonder if he would have done the same if his hairpiece had fallen in? :)

I love Ari Gold but Jeremy Piven is a jackass!!

When I was in high school, I worked at KFC and went to check the bathrooms. I walked in, took one look, and walked out. It looked like a shit-bomb exploded in the stall. There was shit everywhere! Running down the walls, etc. You couldn't pay me enough. Luckily there was this super-happy-go-lucky guy that suited up and went and cleaned it all up. Effing disgusting.

That said, no one could be forced to do this against their will. If an employee dug it out, they wanted to, and I'm sure they used something, a couple of spoons, etc, and gloves. It isn't that outrageous.

I would think that you would want to get the phone out of the toilet as soon as possible, since the longer it's in the water, the wetter it gets, and more damage can be done. Just stick your hand in and grab it, you can spend the rest of the night cleaning your hands, while the phone is "on rice".
