Alex Wong Goes Home

I have been kind of an on and off viewer of So You Think You Can Dance. Some seasons I think it is great and others, meh. Getting to watch Alex Wong this year though has been a revelation. The guy is flat our amazing. Having watched the America version and the Canadian version, I have not seen anyone come close to Alex. Last night he went home though. Not because he sucked, but because he got injured. He is going to need surgery and then three months of rehab after he tore his Achilles tendon.

If you did not get a chance to see him dance, you missed out. Damn. He trained as a ballet dancer, but this hip-hop routine was the best dance ever on the history of the show.

This gives me a big case of the sads. He was absolutely phenomenal to watch, and I believe he's originally from Vancouver. Poor guy gave up his job with the Miami ballet to do the show and then this happens.

:(

I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he'll be back to doing what he loves- and what he is amazing at.

I agree. That hip hop routine was amazing. I hope he recovers fully after his surgery. Get well soon!

He was my favorite. I'm sure he'll have a spectacular career.

Very disappointed by Alex's departure. He was the only reason to watch. However, I have to say Enty--if you think no one has come close you must have missed Danny on S3. He came more than close. I'd say he was better actually. He was brilliant. Should have won his season. They'll never be another Danny. Alex was as close as it came.

It's worse than that - it's 3 months of rest post-surgery before he can start rehab. He's looking at 6-9 months recovery best case scenario. He is brilliant, and I hope he can make it back on top when he comes back to dance. I know some people complain about the filler on the show, but they need to stop making dancers do so many routines in a single night. Injuries have gone way up since they started doing that.

Von, Danny was definitely the best dancer ever on the show. The reason he isn't an all-star is because he's got such a busy career in Europe, so good for him!

I love him and wish him a speedy recovery. On the other hand, Kent makes me want to slam my head in a door for reasons I can't put a finger on

Poor Alex! That hip hop routine mesmerized me and I hate hip hop. I didn't even notice the music while I watched him. He'll have a career though if he can recover from this injury. On the ofhe hand, I think Ken has a career with Kneepads as a repeater. That's how much of a suck up I think he is.

Reporter not repeater. Lol. Love auto correct on a phone.

I must have watched that hip hop routine 15 times by now. I cried with Alex and the dancers last night. You could tell how close they all are to him. He was one of the most beautiful dancers I've ever seen and I will miss him so much. Hoping he does come back next year!

This season is great, and Alex was one of the reasons. You can tell they all get along really great and the tears were real when he had to go last night.

Agree with the rest that Kent is a suckup. It's all gone to his head. Now I'm rooting for Lauren. She is amazing.

I'm heartbroken for Alex... You can tell that despite all of his accomplishments, this meant so much to him. I hope I get to see more of him in the future.

My only problem with the show this year (and for the past few) has been the judging. It's not consistent and they spend too much time pushing their favorites.

Their job is to pimp their faves a la American Idol in an attempt to manipulate the votes. I mute them or fast forward

My favorite routine is still Danny and Sarah's Argentinian tango ("Whatever Lola Wants") from season three. I'll have to play catch-up with this season.

that sucks. tearing your achilles is rough. a LONG recovery. my hubbie tore his playing basketball 3 years ago and no matter how hard he has trained, he still cannot use that foot the way he used to. nowhere near as flexible. and he is on the court everyday as he plays and coaches the sport. it is forever changed.
