A Bunch Of Good Looking Guys Walk Into A Bar
This must have been quite the meeting, but Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth, Gary Oldman and Michael Fassbender were all sitting around a bar one day and drinking. Because, you know, hey, what is a bar without drinking. 
Anyway, they were wondering if they would ever be able to find something for them all to work on together. Well, they found it. They are all set to star in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. 
Now, the question is which one will get which part. I loved that book. It was one of the few books by John Le Carre that I really liked.

Never heard of the book but with those guys in the movie I will definitely be watching.
HMMMMMM, sounds like a vanity project. The version with Alec Guinness as George Smiley was so great. None of those guys are right for any of the roles that I can remember. They're all too good looking. I should just rent a copy of the Alec Guinness version and watch that again.

This is totally wrong headed. People who haven't read the book or seen the Alec Guinness version are going to think this is some spicy hot James Bond type fun summer fun movie which is about 180 degrees away from what it really is. It's a sad story about a sad man who is betrayed by everyone and in every way. It's a great story but not for these gents at this time of their careers. Just seeing the excited comments from the ladies makes me see how disappointing this is going to be.

I'm not sure who Michael Fassbender is and I'm too lazy to IMDB, but he looks pretty hot, despite the scruff. Gary Oldman looks great in that picture, but in recent movies, well...he's had better days.
Oh. My. God. Ralph Fiennes and Gary Oldman....wow!I like Colin Firth and and that Michael Fassbender guy looks quite yummy, but Gary had me with his center parted hair and round, purple glasses, while Ralph will always be Heathcliff.....

I am with you, none of these men have the demeanor or acting chops to take this role on. Sir Alec Guinness was simply an incomparable actor who may have reached his peak in the multiple portrayals of George Smiley.
On another note how are they going to condense Le Carre's richly textured novel down to the 90 to 120 minutes of most films. When the BBC produced it in 79 the running time 290 minutes.
to me there's only one choice and that's oldman. do you guys not realize what an incredible actor he is? check out his career and watch him. he could do it.

@ nancer - I completely & totally 100% agree! Oldman is an amazing actor and I can't think of one movie he's been in where he hasn't dominated each scene. Of course, Dracula and Immortal Beloved will always hold special places in my heart but I have to admit that I love the Fifth Element, too!
