Today's Blind Items

What A list musician, despite being married, only sees his kid(s) when he knows his B list actress wife is not around. He has not lived with his wife for almost a year and she is fine with that. She likes to pretend that everything is still perfect so won't tell anyone. Meanwhile he can't stand to be around her and she drives him crazy.

This reeks of Chris and Gwyneth. MAYBE Nicole and Keith, but I'm definitely going with Martin and Paltrow.

FrenchGirl said...

Chris Martin and Gwinnie Paltrow ? is it too obvious?

MontanaMarriott said...

I thought Paltrow and Kidman but don't their Oscars make them A list?
As well as Paltrow is in the Iron Man franchise.

RocketQueen said...

I think Paltrow is A-list, but the whole "perfect" thing sure sounds like them!

Unknown said...

Not Nicole.. pics of her and Urban together. Besides it would have said "kid" not kids. Definitely, Goopster. Haven't seen a pic with Martin in ages.

cdanluva said...

Harry Connick Jr. and Jill Goodacre

Goopy!

Enty said kid(s) which could be kid or kids. I love the Goopster guess.

Whomever these people are, it is sad and unnecessary.

no way it is gwen+chris
She is the definition of A list.

I think this was written to sound like Gwyneth and Chris Martin. No way Gwyneth is anything less than A-list.

cricket said...

It's got to be either Chris Martin and Goopy Paltrow or Keith Urban and Granny Freeze. I'm leaning toward Keith and Granny since I dislike her even more than Paltrow.

Anonymous said...

It does sounds like FishStick and Martin.

Isn't he on tour right now???

ctkat1 said...

It sounds like the Goopster, but I think she is A-List.

I would cosign that Martin is A-List (although I consider him B-List, the fact that we all know his name and he fronts a successful band probably makes him A-List).

Wouldn't it be great if someone took the time to standardize the A/B/C/D List? I'm thinking a point-based system: nominated for an Oscar gets you 5 points, winning an Oscar gets you 15, headlining a film that grosses over $100m domestically earns you 3 points, being friends with George Clooney gets you 2 points, etc.

The Nightmare Child said...

I'm going with everyone else's guess of Chris Martin & Fishsticks Paltrow.

nancer said...

i thought an oscar didn't make you permanently A list. i think gwynnie could easily be B list by now. i thought of them immediately.
i don't think it's urban/kidman. they're together all the time.

when's the last time we saw gwynnie and chris together?

Bella said...

Goopy use to be A list...now more in the B list range...Jumping onto the Martin/Paltrow train!

Amy in MI said...

Assley and Pete with Brooklyn Jungle Book?

M. said...

Yes, just because she was a recurring character in the Iron Man franchise, she was a supporting cast member. You didn't hear people running to see the movie because she had a supporting role in it.

In my opinion, Fishsticks can't open a movie, to make her permanently A-list. And Shakespeare in Love which she got her Oscar for was ages ago...

Stacy said...

I have to go with Fishsticks and Martin, simply because I cannot for the life of me come up with another A-list musician whose wife is even close to B-list. It seems all the big-time musicians are married to former hairdressers and waitresses.

Virginie said...

Ben Harper & Laura Dern?

MaryMQC said...

As much as I wish he was, Ben Harper isn't A-list. Besides, I really think those two are kinda over the moon for each other. I saw a recent pic of the two of them, and they looked happy together.

As for Goopy McGoopster, she was A-list at one time, for sure, but besides being a supporting player in the Iron Man franchise, what has she done lately? Also, her Oscar for Shakespeare in Love was over ten years ago. She fits in the B-list category very comfortably, for sure. Martin is most definitely A-list, as he fronts one of the most successful and popular bands in the WORLD.

Can we please stop with the nicknames? Fishsticks, Asslee, Granny Freeze and Diddly Piddly dumb down everything that is written. Please, for the love of all things well written and shallow, stop with the stupid nicknames.

Spanksy said...

Stupid question - why is Gwyneth nicknamed Fishsticks? I've seen the nickname on many different sites but I've never known the origin.

krista said...

i would love for it to be FISHSTICKS & chris

RocketQueen said...

@anita_marks - um, this is a gossip site. And although some of here are Harvard grads (what up, Reese!) or can boast similar pedigrees, we generally come here to lose ourselves in celebrity gossip and FUN, employing catty and witty comments.
Hell, Michael K has nicknames down to a SCIENCE and I, for one, think they're fun.

sunnyside1213 said...

I love the nicknames. Most of them come from other bloggers. (Fishsticks is Michael K's name for Goopy.)

TinselSass said...

Even though I think GOOP is A List - Oscar and riding the IRON MAN wave - it's hard to imagine this NOT being her and Sgt Pepper Wannabe.

MnGddess said...

I don' think an Oscar automatically makes you A-list. She would have to be headlining movies to be A-list. And in Iron Man she was was a B-list player. A list is more along the lines of Sandra Bullock or Reese Witherspoon or Julia (bleck) Roberts.

And is Chris Martin an A-list musician? I think there is a different set of rules for the list with regards to musicians. A-list is more like Bowie, Mick Jagger, etc...

Anyhoo, now I don't care..

Anonymous said...

Really? You had to bring up Harvard? The reason I don't read D-Listed is because of the nicknames. There's nothing fresh or amusing about them, it's just a repeated schtick. The Betty White jokes have to stop too. They stopped being funny months ago.

The trick to being funny is keeping it fresh and different, not rehashing the same tired joke again and again.

Stacy said...

@anita_mark

Of course dear, because the entire gossip world should revolve around your wants and needs.

jen said...

LOL Stacy

My very first thought was Kidman, but I think she's still A list? I can see how people think this is Gwyneth - excuse me, Fishsticks - but I can't see her being less than A list. She's just so...HOLLYWOOD. EVERYONE knows her. Not that that defines someone's ranking on the list, but...ugh, I don't even know anymore LOL.

sunnyside1213 said...

Alas, we are like two year olds. The same old jokes make us smile over and over. Must have been something they taught while I was pursuing an advanced degree.

PS...Betty White rocks.

Unknown said...

Michael K adopted fishsticks from Ted Casablanca who said she was as skinny as a fishstick. Wow. The random crap I remember. Ted eventually ran into Paltrow in real life and took it all back. Michael K kept it going (god love him)

Robyn said...

What about Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams. Not that I think she is B list but I can't think that Gweneth is either.

Maren8 said...

Robyn that was my guess too.

Unknown said...

First, I have to put in a vote for Paltrow/Martin. Appearances seem important to her.

Next, a shoutout to my fellow Ivy Leaguers and/or those with advanced degrees--yeah, we're here. And finally, Yikes!! This site has become like the Bickertons today. Get a grip. Spelling doesn't count, nicknames are part of the shtick and not every blind will be obvious. I've been a faithful reader for awhile and have learned that CDAN readers are very perceptive.

Unknown said...

If GP isnt A list, no way Chris Martin is...

Becki said...

anita_mark, I'm with you about the names,I think its unnecessary. I want to know why in the world no one here can voice a opinion about anything without being bitched out by people. The way Rocket Queen reacted is a prime example. And bragging about your education is very low class. I guess your Harvard education did a lot of good if your on CDAN all day.

What does 'GOOP' stand for? Are those her full initials? I like some of the nicknames - at least no one's drawing dicks on people here, LOL. I am a poop when it comes to calling out the 'camel toe'. It reminds me of Perez - he hates all women under 50 (except Gaga). Of course Michael K can get away with anything in my book.

SororSalsa said...

I love this site, I love the comments that the posters make (that's the best part!) and I like the nicknames. Oh....and I have an MBA...I must be a 2-year old too!

RJ said...

I think Paltrow is B-list. However, I also think Chris Martin is a B, but that's probably because I don't get the worshipful attitude that Coldplay inspires in so many people. However, I am pretty lame, musically, so I feel that way about a lot of bands/musicians that most people consider "geniuses".

Regardless of who it is, I wonder why they don't just get divorced? If they've lived apart for over a year and he doesn't see his kids that much, what's the point in staying married?

Fabulous! said...

personally i love the immature nicknames. isn't everything about celebrity gossip supposed to be immature?

no offense to those with harvard degrees, but if gossip required that much, i highly doubt it'd be as popular as it is- have you read perez's comment section??

ellie said...

did anyone see "running with scissors?" When gwyneth's character was asked, "what's for dinner," her answer was "fish sticks!" I about fell off my chair!!!

TONIc said...

I have to admit that poor grammar and spelling errors do bother me a little. Quite a bit, actually. But gossip has it's own language, just like Big Business. So I say we use nicknames whenever we want. But I really wish people would watch there speling and grammer.

SororSalsa said...

"But I really wish people would watch there speling and grammer."

That was cute.

Patty said...

I'm almost ready to buy my ticket for the Martin/Paltrow train, but I have a hard time accepting that he is A list like, for example, Bon Jovi, Mick Jagger, Sting, etc. Maybe B+. I have no problem with Goop being B, she doesn't open movies had has kept a pretty low profile with the exception of Ironman. Other than them, I'm drawing a blank.

No way do I want to believe this is Ben Harper/Laura Dern. No freakin' way. Ashley fits, but I can't even remember the husband's name except that he has a big head. So he can't be A list. I think Gynie (typo, but I loved it so much I had to leave it) fits because even though she has an Oscar, there is no way she is A-list. I mean, think of some of the RANDOM people that have Oscars--they can't ALL be A-list, can they??

Christina said...

Well considering how GOOP's condescension and know-it-all vibe draws eye-rolls from the rest of the world, can you imagine how insufferable she must be as a wife? She must be the queen of all nags.

It's not about nicknames, maturity, or intelligence. CDan commentors don't tolerate pretentious-ness or insults towards other commentors (outside of ignorance, hate and racism) and that's why I love this site.

I love the Gwyneth and Chris Martin guess and could totally buy it. The one thing that gets me is that (I think) Gwyneth is a perma-A-lister or at least A-list by name recognition. I don't think Chris Martin outranks Paltrow on the celeb list scale either.

Angela said...

Coldplay automatically sells huge numbers of albums, especially in Europe. That would make Martin A-list.

A movie won't open bigger just because it stars Paltrow. She's just a celebrity, whose Oscar was quickly regarded as a joke (intense lobbying from the Weinstein brothers, her pretentious speech) and who proved herself quite smug with the GOOP site.
B-list actually defines her well. Former A-list now mostly B-list would suit her even better but it would be too easy to guess. She's B-list because her presence in the credits would bring a little more attention to a big budget movie but nobody in H-wood loses any sleep about what project Paltrow will pick next (except maybe her agent).
Heard the excitement about her part in "Country Strong" or "Contagion"? Me neither...

lollydarling said...

I think Angela's summed it up very well. And on a side note, I just read Christopher Ciccone's 'Life With My Sister Madonna' and Gwyneth comes out of it surprisingly well. A bit off-topic - sorry! - but he finds her lovely and friendly, which isn't exactly what I'd expect. Mind you, that would have been ten years ago. (The book's hilarious, BTW.)

Just Another Blonde said...

lmao @Chihuhuasense and "can't remember his name just his big head" bwahaha that made me snort my coffee at work (oww!)

And what up to the advanced degree crew?! heyyyyyy my advanced degrees I finished (and one coming) have served me very nicely, thank you. I have a good secure job where I can pop on CDAN periodically during the day AND still make a difference in people's lives. Holla! (ok that made me laugh because I'm the whitest white girl I know).

I hate people with their panties in a bunch constantly IRL and I do on here too. The world is nasty enough, can we all just gossip about celebrities and laugh without it being a debacle?

Just Another Blonde said...

And I go for Fishy McFishGoopster (oh crap, another nickname!) and Chris "whiny mofo" Martin lol...

Mostly because I loathe her with a vitriolic hate I usually reserve for the dregs of society.

Icecat said...

@RocketQueen - I couldn't agree with you more!! You took the words right out of my mouth.

And, for those of you, who don't like what we do here, or don't like what Enty posts... Well, there are a lot of other sites you can go to. Leave us nickname calling, bad spellers alone! :P

Charis said...

Oooh Ice Angel, I didn't think of Bruce & Patty -- I like that guess! Their kids are 20, 19 & 16 which could be a reason that kid(s) is written the way that it is.

@The Real Icecat.....well said. This is my guilty pleasure, so to all you naysayers...shut up and enjoy, it's not that deep.

It's me said...

Hasn't John Mayer been called A list? That puts Chris Martin right along with him. Gwen is completely believable as B list.

There has already been rumors that they don't live together and that he actually lives in the house next to hers.

sunnyside1213 said...

Well, Goop and Chris did buy the house next door. I think they are attached and they were going to break through the wall. Seemed rather fishy to me. (No pun intended)

There used to be an annoying sports reporter named Anita Marks. It's good to know whomever is using that screen name is keeping up the tradition. Seriously, bitching about nicknames for celebs? I implore you to get a life.

And why is it every time anyone on this site calls Gwynnie Fishsticks someone inevitably needs the origin explained to them? Just by looking at her it should be obvious. And if you're not reading dlisted, then you're missing out.

i am with those that use the cutesy nicknames... its a freaking gossip site folks, and not only that, its the internet, where you can quickly erase what is in the address bar and hit "www.[insert much cooler non-nicknamey website].com" and GTFO my screen with your whiney comments about people using nicknames for celebrities

i also have an advanced degree but i spend all my day reading through contracts and researching on westlaw and federal court pages and love that i can come here, read HILARIOUS stories about self-entitled celebrities and then scroll down for the always on point comments, misspellings, terrible grammar and all! For the record, I do have a life and I'm a lot of fun to be around. I just think the continuous use of the same tired jokes is right up there with people who still think it's ok to say, "we're not worthy" and "Houston, we have a problem." I'm sure you'd call this Nickname-gate. I'm only suggesting some originality.
