Over the past few years, all the tabloids in England and in Canada and the US have made a fortune out of Prince William and Kate Middleton getting married covers. Every movement or action was considered a sure sign there was going to be an engagement and a dream wedding and a chance for the tabloids and networks to replay the Diana wedding for weeks and weeks and how this wedding compared to that one and just basically give themselves several months of covers they know will sell.
This time though, I think there might actually be something to a gesture. Kate's parents visited Balmoral and that was a first. Think to yourself that it is one thing to go to the parents of someone you are dating. No big deal really. Sure, it is serious, but it does not mean marriage. But, what if you invited your possible future in-laws to go away for the weekend with you. To me that is a whole different level of seriousness and wasn't it at Balmoral that the world first got wind of the Diana and Charles engagement? Was it announced there? I just remember Charles in a kilt and showing the world he liked to breathe free and easy underneath if you know what I mean.
