Shane Sparks Is Going To Trial
I know once the flurry of news after an arrest subsides, it is easy to forget said arrest, but we can't let ourselves forget about Shane Sparks. A Judge yesterday found there was enough of a case to have a trial over the issues. Shane has been charged with eight counts of felony molestation. The crimes actually occurred between 1995 to 1997, but the girl, who was 15 at the time, waited until last December to file charges.
Sparks was a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance and a judge on America's Best Dance Crew.

So he's 41 which would mean he was 25 and she was 15? Yeah, offside. I really liked him as a judge and choreographer, so this is disappointing. All that being said, I'm not sure he's a serial pedophile.
uummm. molesting a child once is enough for me. i dont need to be sure a person is a serial pedophile for me to want them to serve lots and lots of jail time. sort of like how i dont need ever murderer to be a serial killer to deserve jail time. you are freaking me out rocketqueen.

ummm moxy it was, by all accounts, a "consenting relationship" with ONE girl. It was obviously wrong because she was underage and when she got older, she decided to pursue charges. I SAID it was wrong ("offside" is Canadian for "wrong"), and I was glad to learn there aren't any more "victims". That we know of.
Hmmmm... I'm sorry, I always wonder about these.
Did he admit this relationship? Why did she decide to pursue it now? Did he know she was 15?
These are the things I want to know.
The defense attorney in me hates that a person can wait until they are 30 to file charges against someone. And was she 15 in 1997 or 15 in 1995? Because one means she was a consenting adult in many states there at the end and the other means she was 13 when it started.

He apparently has a history of hooking up with young girls, and sexually harassing dancers working for him, so this is not a one-time thing. Back when this first came out, there were a couple of posters on ONTD who knew people who had either slept with him because they felt they had to, or had trouble because they wouldn't.
And they said this was common knowledge in the dance community.
So I wonder if that was her impetus. She's not in the dance game anymore and can't be "hurt" by his influence?
I dunno. I always withold judgment on sex cases. So many of my clients have been wrongfully accused. I by so many, I mean maybe 20%. But outside of sex cases, I have people who are actually, totally innocent - maybe once a year. Kinda innocent, can't prove it, or technically innocent - yes. But not completely. Except for sex cases.
Shane Sparks is a pig. I was watching ABDC and he made a comment that women love it when men rub their crotches a la Michael Jackson. Yeah, Shane. What we're really thinking is "You damn well better wash that hand before you touch me.."
I think she was a student of his, so I expect he was well aware of her age.
Also, a relationship with a 15-year-old is skeevy and criminal but it's not pedophilia. Pedophiles target pre-pubescent children.
