Your Turn

I know I asked this question last year, but I think I will keep asking it every year, because the answer can change. The question is what is your favorite Christmas Movie. The reason I can say it can change is because people see new movies. This is the first year I saw The Family Stone. Great movie, but not my favorite. I also saw Fred Claus for the first time which I hated. This was also the first time I saw The Christmas Clause 2&3. I'm glad they stopped making them. I would say that my top 3 in no particular order are Christmas Vacation, Elf & Bad Santa. Oh, an The Ref which I have not watched yet this year.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. As all of my facebook friends know by my seasonal avatar. :)

I'm afraid I'll be the only person to say this, but "Gremlins." I've had it with the sappy stuff and as I get older young Phoebe Cates gets prettier and prettier. My Christmas is watching the monsters fights and listening to Phoebe Cates tell her Christmas story.

Home Alone.

A Christmas Carol with Alaistair Sim. I used to watch that in the dark ages when I was young. Although I do like Bad Santa and Elf, too.

Christmas in Connecticut, but Bad Santa is a close second.

My favorite classics are "The Bishop's Wife" and "Christmas in Connecticut". My favorite new ones are "Love, Actually" and "The Holiday".

Bad Santa

And for those who didn't see my previous post today - Merry Christmas! It is Christmas morning in Australia. I hope all CDANERS have a wonderful Christmas. Stay safe. Thanks for all the laughs and thought provoking commentary throughout the year.

I'm still a fan of A Christmas Story

Four Christmases is now a must see every year.

I still love Christmas Vacation. Rudolph and Charlie Brown and all those don't count. They are not movies, but annual specials.

It's A Wonderful Life .... it puts everything in perspective. (And, makes me cry my eyes out no matter how many times I watch it).

My favorites are the Grinch & Charlie Brown Christmas. I know they're not technically movies but to me, it's not Christmas until I've viewed them at least once. The scene in Charlie Brown where Linus recites the meaning of Christmas makes me tear up every time. What can I say, underneath this hard bitchy shell is a softie.

OT but I just wanted to let you all know I had my baby Tuesday 12/21. Her name is Isla (yep, like Isla Fisher, Borat's wife LOL) and she's my fourth (and last) little girl. Her big sisters are all incredibly proud and I feel like I got run over by a Mack truck. So it's not necessarily true that the more pregnancies you have, the easier delivery gets. Merry Christmas everyone!

I love the George C. Scott "Christmas Carol". And for more recent ones, the Bishop's Wife remake with a still-lovely-then Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington. Love Actually is also adorable, A Christmas Story is still a favorite.

Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, not normally a guy you'd associate with the Christmas spirit, but it's funny and heartwarming.

Congrats chopchop!!!

My favourite movie by far is Christmas Vacation. This year I laughed so hard that I woke the baby up. The family is so much like my husband's family that he even said the other night "Phone my parents and tell them they're on tv".

Die Hard. Same as last year.

congratulations chopchop. I think Isla is a wonderful name.

@chopchop: Congratulations, first of all, and I know how you feel about the Charlie Brown Christmas (The Grinch and Rudolph, too.) I've seen that one every year since it debuted (yes, I'm OLD,) and I'll guarantee the only mention you'll hear of Jesus Christ during the holiday season is from Linus.
@moonmaid: I like the George C. Scott Christmas Carol, too.

Four Christmases, ELF, Love Actually, It's A Wonderful Life.

'Bridget Jones' Diary' because the words "turkey curry buffet" sounds awesome when spoken with a British accent and Colin Firth in an ugly holiday sweater.

'Lord of the Rings' 'cause it was released in December for three years and I used to watch the DVDs whenever I had to study for my exams near Christmas, so it always puts me in the Christmas mood now.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Best wishes to everyone for a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous 2011!

And congratulations to chopchop! Welcome to the world, Isla!

That being said, Merriest of Christmases or whatever holiday you celebrate to one and all!
And a safe and happy New Year to everyone also!

And and extra special bacon wrapped thank you to you, Enty, for doing this... as always, you rock, dude, you rock!
Now rest up, you got some serious work to do on the 1st.

Without a doubt or bit of hesitation "Love Actually", followed by "The Holiday". Something about those Brits!

Congratulations chopchop, what a lovely Christmas present for your family.

As always "White Christmas", love the story, songs and dances. I've seen it 3 times so far this season.

Charlie Brown and Rudolph are also must-sees.

Congratulations ChopChop. Welcome to the clubhouse Isla.

The last couple of weeks have been tough on my family, but we hung together and are so blessed.

Merry Christmas everyone. Tamales tonight! Woohoo.

Congrats, chopchop! Tell Isla (lovely name) that, if she needs any tips on surviving a Christmastime birthday, give me a buzz. lol I was born on the big day itself.

As for Christmas movies, there is only one -- "A Christmas Story." I laugh hysterically at it every year. I'm a cynic about the big holiday, due to my birthday.

It's A Wonderful Life will always be the Christmas movie for me! I cry everytime and the kiss between Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed at the telephone is how every kiss should be! hot!!

A Charlie Brown Christmas will always have a special place in my heart-it is my childhood

and congrats chopchop and try to get some sleep!!

"Metropolitan" is my pick. Not really a Christmas movie per se, but it takes place during the Christmas season. Hilarious. Whit Stillman will always be one of my all-time favorite writer/directors. Chris Eigeman's performance in this film was priceless.

Congrats, chopchop! Four daughters, that's a lot of estrogen in one house! Feel better soon!

Also congrats to Merlin D. Bear! Grandbabies are for spoiling!

AW! Chopchop!!! Congrats! That's my mom's birthday!

I love all things Christmas, but both Grinches, Charlie Brown, Elf, Vacation, Home Alone, the Christmas story and Wonderful life are MUST SEEs every Christmas.

The only thing that I like in the Family Stone are the curtains in Luke Wilson's bedroom. LOVE them!!! but I can't find them anywhere (the fabric or otherwise)

My favorites are: Mixed Nuts, Christmas Vacation, Scrooged & Love, Actually. Watching all 4 tonight! Merry Christmas to all CDANers!!

Oh Enty. The fact that you know and love The Ref, just makes me adore you even more.
Merry Bacon-y Xmas big guy x

Rudolph, as a whole. And the Heat Miser (from The Year Without a Santa Claus) as a standalone Christmas movie character (although I'm almost afraid to go back and watch to see why he was a favorite growing up. I think maybe it was that he was so memorable, combined with the fact that his character wasn't your typical Christmas fare.)

Forever will be "A Christmas Story". I will never tire of that film.

My husband & I do what we call a countdown to Christmas & watch all our favorites. My absolute favorite has always been It's a Wonderful Life. We want to start watchIng ones we'd never seen so we saw The Holiday Inn (which I'm not sure classifies as a true Christmas movie with all the other holidays mentioned), The Year Without A Santa, Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey (1970's puppet animation is hilarious) & Mixed Nuts

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!
