15 Month Old Breaks Brand New Oscar

Instead of taking the family to Disney World after his win for Best Picture, King's Speech producer, Simon Egan decided to save a couple of bucks and the happy memories and just let his 15 month old daughter hold his brand new Oscar. Well, like any 15 month old who wants to go see Mickey and Minnie and be a princess for a day with Cinderella, she got back at her dad. While holding the statue, the girl decided it would look better dented and busted on the ground so she let it drop.

Wonder what Oscar (named for one of Bette Davis's husbands) is made of?

*LOL* Sweet!

Children should not be allowed to touch or hold anything valuable until they reach the age of 30.

The adults say they are heavy, much less a 15 month old trying to hold one. Thank goodness the "Oscar Hospital" got it fixed for him.

LOL! What Jenny said. :-)

Why in THE HELL would you trust a child to hold a precious object and not break it? I wasn't even allowed within fifteen feet of my father's prized guitar collection until after I graduated college!

lol Jenny.

I'm 35 and just bought myself a white ski jacket because I figured I'm finally responsible enough to own something white. Turns out, I'm not.

Why did I just hear my mother's voice saying "This is why we can't have nice things!"

Honestly, I see nothing wrong in letting her hold it for a picture. I had a problem with sitting a 15 month old up on a rock over cement, since at that age, kids just like to lurch forward. Better the Oscar than her head.

I really like valerie's comment.

RocketQueen - I'm 48 and I've given up on white things.

My son is 9 and he is *still* breaking things. Don't give a child anything that valuable.
