Whoopi Stoned Out Of Her Mind While Accepting Oscar

Back in 1991, Whoopi Goldberg won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and TMZ has obtained some footage of Whoopi explaining how she was so stoned during the speech that she had to coach herself to walk to the stage. The video comes from when Whoopi was doing some voice over work and how her mom called her because she could tell Whoopi was stoned. Back then I think they gave those awards almost right as soon as the show started as a tease to keep you around longer so I think it is possible Whoopi could have still been really stoned if she smoked the joint right before she went in.

If you want to see Denzel Washington looking really good and Whoopi's speech, click here.

Was she stoned when she agreed to the "Poise" underpads commercials?

I was aghast at seeing her say "I leak" while dressed up in various costumes.

Oh Whoopi!

Actually that's the most alert & coherent I've ever seen her. Never would've guessed that she was stoned. Maybe she oughta smoke each morning before going on air.

Don't think she deserved to win, but that's another can of worms, lol.

Anyone notice the look Anjelica Houston gave her as Whoopi was walking to the podium? It quickly changed as she realized the camera was on her.

Momster, saw that too hahaha. Wonder why she gave that look???

She didn't really sound stoned..?

I loved her so much in Ghost. I only saw 2 of the other films that year so I can't really say if she deserved to win or not.

Don't think she should have won for Ghost, but I think she won that year because they didn't give it to her for the Color Purple. Quite a few actors got their Oscars that way, for previous work vs. the nominated role.

totally happened with Denzel. Should have won for Hurricane but won for Training Day.

Cate Blanchett for the Aviator instead of Elizabeth. Judi Densch for two minutes in Shakespeare in Love instead of Mrs. Brown. Paul Newman for the Color of Money instead of almost everything else he was nominated for.

Liz Taylor won for Butterfield 8 which was an awful movie. Can't remember what she lost for that resulted in the Oscar the next year.

@sunnyside1213

Probably for not winning for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 1959 or Suddenly Last Summer in 1960. Butterfield 8 was nominated in 1961.

It's a fun game. :-)

Damn...that was some serious stank eye Morticia Adams was giving off. What's up with that?

@sunnyside - shortly before the Oscars, Liz was hospitalized and nearly died, she had a tracheotomy and it was thought she won for that reason. I believe her competition claimed to have "lost to a tracheotomy".

@Rocket Queen, I believe you are right but there was a previous movie that she should have won for. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof maybe?

@ Paisley, I had forgotten Suddenly Last Summer. Also, an excellent movie.
