Random Photos Part One - With Reader Photos

Two parts today.

Orlando Bloom gives some loving to his baby. Great photo.
See all those brown lines? They are baby penguins being protected against the cold by older penguins.
That is a lot of penguins.
That is a mighty big whip Prince William is holding. I wonder if he is over compensating.

Reader Photo #2
Salma Hayek looking glamorous in Venice.
Italian Vogue decided to take a stand and put three plus size models on their cover. Bravo.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Paradis was in French Vogue.

Those 3 ladies on the Vogue Italia cover are sexier than any of the bags of bones walking the runways nowadays. HANDS DOWN. Vavavoom!

Does plus size mean bigger than a zero? Those models are healthy weight.

Patty said...

That model on the left resembles Pricilla Presley, back in the day.

They all look like a well proportioned 14.

mikey said...

^^^ they are attractive. I get a bit of a Sophia Loren vibe from the woman in the middle.

Adorable candid photo with baby. Sweet. Penguins, of course. Orlando and baby adorable too. lol

@Tiger - You Said it. Those women are GOR-GEOUS.

Love the Black & White too. Very "La Dolce Vita."

Those three are plus-size? Seriously? In what universe? The juxtaposition between that cover and the photo of the emaciated-looking Vanessa Paradis (whom I've always thought was really unfortunate looking) right after it is eyebrow-raising.
The Bloom-Kerr baby is adorable. And I'm not big on kids.
Someone should hit Prince William a few times with that whip. See how he likes it. Polo ponies suffer horribly during matches.
Also, Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!, reader photo #1!!

mooshki said...

Sean, yes, anything above a 0 is "plus sized." I think most of the "plus sized" models average a size 12. Barf!

Maja With a J said...

Texshan - the fashion universe. The majority of models are negative size, so anyone with a little bit of fluff on them, who would just be a regular hot chick if you saw them in the street, is a "plus sized" model. It's kind of sad, really.

I try my best not to swoon over baby pictures but that one of Orlando w/ child is adorable!

RocketQueen said...

Love the Italian Vogue cover. I actually think those models are nice and curvy, but I wish they weren't basically HIDING their bodies behind tables and clothing. Kind of takes away from the purpose, non?

Agree with Texshan on the whip and polo horses. Just makes me sad :(

Those penguin pics are AWESOME.

The model on the left does look like Priscilla Presley, the middle one looks kinda like Raquel Welch, and the one on the right Brigitte Bardot, maybe? Or maybe I just sound like an old fart.

Plus-size in modeling means a size 12.

SALMA is SO HOT. I think she's *easily* the most beautiful actress in Hollywood. Maybe. Top Five, at LEAST. And she was my favorite of all Jack Donaghey's girlfriends, for sure.

Diana would have a LOT to say about that whip.

@RQ -- "I actually think those models are nice and curvy, but I wish they weren't basically HIDING their bodies behind tables and clothing. Kind of takes away from the purpose, non?"

I had the same thought. I also wish that the model on the left would close her legs. :-/ It's an inelegant pose and doesn't do her beauty any justice.

They really are FAR more stunning than the androgynous skeletons who've been all over every editorial and runway during the past few years. I wonder who they are? I was thinking the middle one was Crystal Renn, but she's now a shadow of her former (gorgeous), curvy self, so probably not.

Finn Kerr Bloom has a GREAT name, and pretty rockin' genetics. He IS cute.

Not as cute as that penguin picture, though!

And Reader #2 is adorable.

Ida - I totally agree about Salma! She and I are the same height, actually (5'1"), and I'm always so impressed how she works it ;)

Meg said...

Hi Readers! #1 - That's a cool pic with everyone running on the field behind ya. :)

I love Orlando's bebe's chunky cheeks!

Murphy Brown 2020 said...

*model on the right, I mean. Or, like, their left. You guys know what I meant.

@Rocket Queen -- I've got about six inches on you, but I'll trade you my height for Hayeky boobs, if you have 'em. :-)

Anonymous said...

Yes, Nightmare, you do!

I know that anyone who doesn't look like a wan, pissed-off flesh-colored skeleton is considered "plus size" in the fashion industry, but it's just annoying when they take absolutely drop dead gorgeous women like these three, who all probably wear size 8, and label them thusly. I think they are FAR more beautiful than any Gollum-looking mobile clothes hanger I've seen walking down a runway.
I agree with Ida about the one on the right, however. Hello, no one sits like that. Close your legs before I start clutching my pearls.

Can somebody please post Enty's email addy so I can send him my photo. I tried clicking on his email link but my stupid Windows 7 live can't open email links. Anybody else have that problem? Sometimes I miss Outlook express.

Bloom's baby is so cute lol.

You should watch March of the Penguins very interesting documentary about them.

Reader#1 - Aggie here too lol

Love Selma's dress and shoes.

The Vogue models looks very nice. I thought they were more like a size 14 to me.

Never considered Paradis attractive at all.

RocketQueen said...

Ida - I did, but a breast reduction surgery in 2000 took care of that. I'm sure Salma would disapprove! Then again, she can afford the type of clothing to make it work!

Murphy Brown 2020 said...

@RQ -- I know many women who've done the same thing. During certain days of the month, my B-cups feel like aching concrete sacks (all the CDAN men just plugged their ears and started screaming "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA"), and I can ONLY IMAGINE.

I love how Salma says that she used to pray to have big breasts. LOL. That's awesome. Stars! They're just like us! I wonder if she has names for them?

Ice Angel said...

OK...love that Vogue has "plus-sized" (LOL!) models on the cover and they are just totally hawwwwwt, but I agree that they shouldn't be covered up by all the stuff. I mean, if they aren't ashamed to be standing in the middle of a restaurant in their underwear, they should not be hiding!

Maja With a J said...

I'm a size 12 and I don't think I'd be considered "plus-sized" in those circles. I think they'd flat out call me fat *L*.

In the words of Dolly Parton (my hero); "I would have been taller, but I got bunched up at the top".

RocketQueen said...

Ida - Thanks to, "Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret", I ACTUALLY did those exercises and repeated "I must, I must, I must increase my bust!" Then, out of nowhere, damn near double Ds on my 5'" frame. I was the first girl in elementary school to own a bra. Fucking Judy Blume.

Murphy Brown 2020 said...

@RQ -- LOL! The tighter the sweater, the boys like it better!

Judy Blume is the shit. I STILL sign letters "Love, and other indoor sports" from time to time, and I don't care if people get the reference or not.

A couple of summers ago, I checked out every single Zilpha Keatley Snyder book from my local library and I seriously read them all in one day. I might do the same with Judy Bloom this time around. And, uh, V.C. Andrews, too. Whatever. Flowers in the Attic was THEBOMB.COM.

Hayley said...

yay! I'm in reader photo #1 with my husband and best friends (including another reader!)

Reader #2, I love your dog!!

RocketQueen said...

Um, I have probably read every V.C. Andrews book ever written, including the ones her "estate" wrote after she died.

The Italian Vogue cover was interesting to see. I wonder if Anna Wintour would ever do the same. I'm thinking no, not in a million years.

Char said...

Those models are HOT. I would not kick any of them out of bed, and I would not normally say that about models. I usually think they look like bones.

Salma always kind of looks like a wax figurine to me. She just always looks immaculate. I mean that as a compliment, I think she is gorgeous, always so well put together.

Is it wrong to say that I would not at all be surpised if William did have a small... "whip"? He just seems like the type.

ForSure said...

Ida, RQ, stop talking about my childhood! I read Judy Blume too, until I read the 'sex' one (was that Forever?) and never thought of her the same again. I had to read Harriet the Spy 3 times in a row just to feel like a normal 12 year old again (and write stuff in my notebook about my neighbors). I also read Flowers in the Attic, and I think one of the sequels, but those people were all just too messed up for me at that age. Wonder what I would think of those books now.

Orlando Bloom, I still melt over you despite your useless thin lips and gay rumors. You and Miranda are just beautiful and that baby makes my ovaries twinge.

ablake said...

Hayley that's such a great picture! It's impossible to look at it and not smile:)
(I'm an Aggies fan too..shhhh)

Curvy models go! Excellent that the Italian Vogue of all publications did that cover feature. I caught a marathon of ANTM last weekend and one of the top 3 was considered "plus" at size 10. Wowza.

Amanda- come on, that was when we beat Nebraska! Don't you want to see them running to the Big 10 with their tail between their legs?

if those bithces are plus-sized im a fucking beached whale

mooshki said...

I read at Jezebel that they're a size 12, 14, & 16. Fatties! /sarcasm

Tinnie said...

Hello! Long time lurker, very rare poster. Really enjoyed the set of photos this time around. Agree that Orlando Bloom's baby is gorgeous and those models are hardly plus-sized.

What really caught my attention though was the mention of those V.C. Andrews books in the comments. OMG those things were a major vice of mine when I was younger. That lady had one twisted imagination. I seriously contemplated re-reading a few of those guilty pleasures a few years ago and am now totally going through with it. They'll slip into my summer reading schedule just fine.

Meg said...

@Ida - Judy Blume IS the shit. I was obsessed with her as a kid. My favorite, for some reason, was "Just as Long as We're Together". I think I've read that 5 times. Oh and you can follow her on Twitter. :)

figgy said...

I'm still looking for the plus-sized models. Please. Those girls are maaaaybe a size 8. Tho as others have noted, can't really tell as they're so hidden.

The Black Cat said...

Hmmmm, not sure about them being an 8, that's quite slim in my opinion.
I was thinking they were as Mooshki mentioned.

RocketQueen said...

Hi Tinnie! I agree....I must have been one twisted kid to have kept wanting to read that stuff, since I think EVERY series included incest.

Tinnie said...

Hi Rocket Queen! Love your comments, BTW. The fact that her books are aimed at young adults is bizarre. I have also read almost all of her books and wonder how my mom didn't yank those out of my hands. They were out there. Could you imagine being a male family member of hers? I think you'd wonder...

jax said...

RQ and Ida I am now rereading all the VC Andrews books from my library but i can't find My Sweet Audrina..my fave!! Also rereading all the amazing Beverly Cleary books in hopes of doing a homage tour in Portland this summer.

jax said...

i follow Judy Blume on twtter..they are just finishing shooting TIGER EYES!

RocketQueen said...

Thanks Tinnie - I hope you post more often :)

jax...I'm going home in August to visit, I might bring back my collection and you can have my copy of My Sweet Audrina if you'd like ;) That whole Heaven series...wtf?

Whoop for being in Reader Photo #1 with Hayley! We're both long time readers here....the guys in the picture not so much, but I'm sure they're excited to be in the ranks of models and Salma Hayek.

blankprincess said...

Yeehaw! Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, and V.C. Andrews fan here, too (although that last one really canNOT be in the same category as the other two)! I swear, I read "Flowers in the Attic" when I was ten years old (stole it temporarily from a friend's older sister when I started reading it at their house and became immediately engrossed). I wrote a--ahem--LENGTHY book report on it first thing when I entered 5th grade. My teacher returned it with only one comment: "Sounds like an *interesting* book..." LOL!
