BuzzFoto Blind Item

After two failed stints in rehab, this B list singer has decided to try converting to a religion with strict substance abuse rules. She is currently investigating the religion and while she doesn’t necessarily care about the “god stuff” she’s hoping the guidelines will keep her sober.

Scientology is the only religion I can think of that has that reputation. Praise Zenu?

Don't really see the big deal. She obvious is desperate and cares about getting better. It's not like she is the only one who does that.I know many people who only follow a religion in case it's right so they don't end up in a wrong place when they die. I don't see the difference.

I applaud anyone who wants to be sober badly enough to try anything. However, I don't think following a religion without faith in the basic tenent (the god stuff) will be much help in the long run. Most religious people I know rely on faith in the god stuff to get them through hard times and temptations. Still, I wish her luck.

and if the religion can help her, praise it honey!

Christina Aguilera and mormonism. Her parents met at BYU and I think her mom was still actively receiving LDS visiting teachers when Christina was a kid. Mormons really keep tabs on their members. Hardcore.

what BondGirl said. Mormons don't drink or drug. Not even caffeine.

Wow. I wouldn't make a very good Mormon then. If Mitt Romney becomes president will he shut all the Starbucks down?

Hell, even Buddhism is a contender here. I'm not religious, but if I were to choose one religion, I'd be all over buddhism - I already love mother earth and refuse to eat her creatures :) Unfortunately, I like wine too much.

+1 for Whitney

I believe Whitney is Christian. She used to sing in a gospel choir and she was in that preacher's wife movie.

@RocketQueen
What does Buddhism have to do with being a vegetarian? My husband is Buddhist, was even a Buddhist monk for ten years, and is not a vegetarian. It really depends on what sect of Buddhism one is discussing.

Actually, if one were to really study Buddhism, one would see it is more of a philosophy than a religion and that is the case with most Eastern practices.

I think that if you're depending on a religion for your rehab, you need the "god stuff" in order to have a prayer at keeping straight. Otherwise how is this different from any other method?

Christina Aguilera has never been to rehab.

Henriette - most Buddhists I know and EVERY buddhist restaurant I've been to is strictly vegetarian. In fact, I've never heard of an orthodox Buddhist who eats meat. What sect did your husband belong to?
And of course I agree, it is more of a philosophy...one I've studied and identify strongly with. They have an enormous respect for nature and life, hence why many/most do not eat animals.
