Another Linda Lovelace Movie - This One With Amanda Seyfried

After the whole Lindsay Lohan debacle about playing Linda Lovelace and how the part eventually went to Malin Akerman, you would think that would be the end of Linda Lovelace talk in movies. Nope. Turns out there is another movie in development about Linda Lovelace and this one would star Amanda Seyfried as Linda and Peter Sarsgaard as her husband. With that cast it sounds like it has a much better chance of getting made. However, here is my advise to Amanda Seyfried. Don't do it. It is one thing to be topless in a movie and have some simulated sex scenes. Kate Winslet has shown you can do that all day long in every movie and be treated as a serious actress. The thing is there is a line. I am not sure what that line is but when you are in a movie and just have one nude scene after another and spend the entire movie almost naked and portraying a porn star, people remember that and do not want you for anything else. This kind of movie will not affect Peter's career at all. Amanda though is on the rise and has a chance to be A list and this kind of thing could push her off the chart into never be seen again. Did she not see Showgirls? Tell me what happened to Mariel Hemmingway after Star 80. Even someone like Kim Basinger After she did 9 1/2 Weeks, people saw her differently and I don't think she was ever thought of as anything but the person who made that movie. Sharon Stone after Basic Instinct? Yes, all of them did other projects, but they never reached the level they were at prior to that movie again.

She is too stunning, too talented, and rising too quickly in Hollywood right now to do this.

I don't understand it. I'm flabbergasted. She must be like Rihanna: gorgeous, but brainless.

Agreed, Enty. What's so fascinating about a porn star anyway? God. Play a strong empowered woman for god sakes.

Hmmm, I am thinking if that was the case in the following cases, Heather Graham in Boogie nights, Julianne Moore in Boogie nights?? Also last time I checked wasn't Linda Lovelace a brunette?

Basinger won an Oscar for LA Confidential. Stone was nominated for Casino. Both happened after doing their respective movies.

Julianne Moore has gone full frontal a few times. She's a 4-time Oscar nominee.

It can be done, but it has to be approached carefully.

With Winslet and Moore, you have good actresses. Taking off their clothes isn't the be all and end all of what they offer. Stone is hammy and Hemingway was average at best. Elizabeth Berkeley swung for the fences and missed badly, but you can why she did it. She was a star of Saturday morning teen show and was trying to move to adult roles. She missed a few steps in between. But the choice to be in Showgirls isn't far-fetched.

It comes down to the screenplay. If it's only focused on having Seyfried naked, she shouldn't do it. But if they're trying to show how being a porn star impacted Lovelace's life beyond that, it may be worthwhile.

Again, it has to be approached very carefully.

Agree with Enty: this is a bad career choice, especially for someone as young, beautiful and talented as Amanda Seyfried. I read Linda Lovelace's autobiography many years ago. It's a fascinating read, but the film would certainly degrade Ms. Seyfried.

Someone who did nudity wrong was Halle Berry. Yeah, she won an Oscar for Monster's Ball, which is said to be a good movie. But all people talked about was Berry getting her back blown out by Billy Bob Thornton. It went too far and while Berry said she was OK with the scene and wouldn't go that far again, I think it tipped her career scales too hard. She didn't have the best resume prior to that and she certainly hasn't since then, other than the X-Men franchise.

Halle made bad choices for the money and now she regrets it...she wasted her Oscar clout.

Halle's best bet would be to get into TV. She's gorgeous and I've enjoyed her TV work: Queen, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, etc.

Anyone else think Enty's a bit off with the pop culture yesterday? Yesterday he didn't understand Adam Levine and GF's November Rain-inspired costumes. And today he forgets about Kim Basinger in movies like LA Confidential and Batman. And seriously, where would Sharon Stone be these days had she not done Basic Instinct?

Yeah, but it was at least a decade between 9 1/2 Weeks and LA Confidential.

For Sharon Stone, she continued on the path of Basic Instinct with movies like Sliver. Her career has never really recovered.

I think Halle Berry is one of the most overrated actresses out there. Monsters Ball was not particularly good and she chewed scenery in a bad way.

Everyone knows you don't go "full porno".

Like someone pointed out, I really think it would depend on the screenplay. If it's interesting and delves into the personality of Linda Lovelace and the decisions and events that led her down that path, it could be a really interesting movie. If they're going for shock value and realistic porn scenes, then not so much.

A few Words. Boogie Nights. Mark Wahlberg. Julianne Moore.

Think either of them suffered for it?

BAM! OWNED!!!!!

she played a whore in Chloe and got rave reviews. I liked that movie a lot it showed her range.

Just becuase a movie is about a porn star doesn't mean it will look like a vivid movie.

Linda had a very dramatic life and tragic end. I think this might even get her an Acadamy nomination if done right.

Bad idea, Amanda. Unless she is still on some level, competing w/Lindsay, just showing her that she could have that part if she wanted it, and Lilo did want to do it, but was axed. (God, my grammar is starting to be as bad as Enty's!) ; ). Ever since Mean Girls, Lilo has gotten all the attention but no work (acting), while Amanda has gotten all the work, but not nearly the attention. Just a thought...

I agree that if it's less about the porn career and more about her life, it could be good. Linda's husband was a FUCKING MONSTER. It could be a movie about their relationship, which could be a success - kind of like a What's Love Got to Do with It kind of movie.

Amanda Seyfried did naked scenes in CHLOE last year

I think you're all missing the point: male movie stars do not play sexually abused victims in the hope of getting an Oscar. Nor does Kate Winslet, because she's a great actress. Julianne Moore should never have got her snatch out for that loathsome Robert Altman movie, but she certainly didn't descend to playing Linda Lovelace (poor thing). Neither should any actress with ambition and self-respect. A male actor certainly wouldn't.

Well, she'd probably be a better choice than Malin Akerman.

I don't know if it would ruin her career or not. Depends on the script/director, I suppose, but I also don't also see the great desire to play this role.
