Three Minutes That Are Totally Worth It

Kaitlin Brand, who just turned 16 discovered the body of her mother last month after she had committed suicide. Despite that, Kaitlin, managed to make this video which is awesome. Take three minutes and see if you are not moved.

REALLY glad I am wearing waterproof mascara today. Beautiful child .. not a 'god' person at all .. but if there is anyone out there with the spirit of God/ Jesus .. she is it.

I'm sitting here, tears running down my face. I just want to hold her, wrap my arms around her and tell her I'm here if you need me...

I would like to mother her. Bless her sweet heart. I am sorry her mother couldn't find a way through whatever pain she was suffering. It must have been terrible enough that she left her little girl without a mother and to find her like that.

She is a beautiful girl, just like her mother. They could be twins. She is very brave and strong, to reach out to others. I hope she has someone taking care of her too.

I can't believe she found her mother though. What a horrible thing to witness and have to carry with you.

What a strong and beautiful girl. I've posted this on my FB to share with friends, some who are going through very difficult times right now. Myself included (messy, messy divorce and self-esteem issues).

Bless you, Enty, for sharing this!!!

I echo what others have said above.

This is sad on so many levels, but what I find especially heartbreaking is that this mother was unable to work through whatever was troubling her, and left this beautiful young girl without a mom. I hope Kait has family that will help guide her through her formative years.

I also hope when she thinks of her mother, she will try to remember all the good times and not focus on her mother's exit.

That was so moving. Wow. Tearing up here too.
I have a 15 year old daughter and this hurts my heart for this girl so much.

I lost a friend to suicide in August. Please, PLEASE get help if you are having these thoughts. I don't care what you are facing, someone loves you and wants you to stick around.

Agreed with bc above. I lost a good friend to suicide (he was bipolar for years) years ago and I still think about him at least once a week.

This is obviously a good kid and I hope that in light of her mother's passing she has a good network of friends and family to help her through this.

Tears ... I would so want to give this kid a hug. She is amazingly special. Her mother did something right by raising a beautiful child like this with a great smile.

This is such a beautiful little girl. i noticed with the dates that her mother died shortly before her 16th birthday. And yet she can smile, because her mother wanted her to be happy. I'm in tears.

OMG...Crying my eyes out on that one. Someone needs to pay her for that and use it for suicide prevention. It was nicely composed I must say. Almost like a professional commercial. That was amazing...

I dare you to watch that and not be moved. God bless her a million times.

I'm completely choked up and moved to tears. She's an amazing 16 year old.

This was a very nice thing for her to do but I hope she's not repressing her feelings of sadness for the sake of being positive. It's okay to say that you're angry or sad and still be a happy person. I know it's "in" right now to be a happy positive person but it's not normal to be happy all the time. Especially after someone dies.

Oh my god! Bless her. You never get over a suicide, but she seems to be doing what she needs to, and I think if she's an advocate or helping others, it will help her. Poor baby!

What an inspiration! Between that video and Rememberance Day, the trivial things are once again put into perspective.

Crying. That song is so sad/pretty and to think this poor girl JUST went through this less than a month ago, but has the strength to post this in order to help others. Amazing.

She is my hero.

Two months ago, my uncle committed suicide. Last week, my brother's 25 year old wife did the same. Hold tight to those you love. Thanks for sharing, Enty.

Meryl said...

My mother did the same when I was young. I was there too. It took me years to become half as strong as this beautiful, courageous girl. What an inspiration.

Well, I don't care what she says, she's extremely strong and courageous and beautiful. She's also reaching out to those in need. Doesn't get anymore courageous and strong than that. She's truly blessed and her presence and existence is a blessing to us all. And like she said, please get help for yourself or anyone that you think might need help when it comes to suicide. Nothing and nobody is worth taking your life over.
