Alcatraz Tourists Wandering Off Looking For Hurley

It did not take long for tourists to Alcatraz to start thinking that the scenes from the new show on FOX are real and have been wandering around trying to find the secret rooms and other areas shown on the show. This past Monday night's show was disturbing. I only managed to get around to watching it last night. This is my one big question. The doctor from the prison and Parminder/Lucy must be 90 but have not aged, but Sam Neil has aged. Also, if the doctor has not aged then he must be in on everything and knows where everyone is and where they came from and who they are working for so how come he does not spill. Oh, and so far the actors who played the criminals in the 1st episode and the third episode deserve Emmy Awards, especially the guy from this past Monday. Watch that episode and then watch the rest of the actors on shows and see if you can spot the difference between an actor and someone who wants to be one.

Because Sam Neill's character was one of the guards that came to Alcatraz in the boat after everyone had disappeared. Lucy and the doctor are from the past and disappeared (and re-appeared) with the prisoners.

I haven't watched the last episode. No spoilers please!

I watched the first episode on demand because my fella had caught the second one and raved about it. I thought it sucked. The acting is so horrible and the story is more than a little crazy and inconsistant.

I was furious that a woman of Indian descent was shown being a psychiatrist in 1960. Are you f-ing kidding me?!? Women were still being terribly discriminated against, not to mention where the united states was on segregation and the civil rights movement. Never would have happened.

It was a slap in the face. A fundamental denial and reversal of the horrible realities of the time.

Not to be all serious. But I saw that and my blood just boiled! Way to rewrite history you as$ hats

I haven't watched it, but certainly thought "HUH?" when he said Parminder Nagra's character was supposed to be from the past. Yeah, that happened.

Glad she's back on TV, but the role really sound like it makes no sense whatsoever.

The commercials for this decided for me that it would not be a show I watched. One Lost runaround is enough.

Haven't finished watching the 3rd episode yet, but you're right, the criminal dude is great.

@ Nellie - I noticed and thought that too. My blood didn't boil mostly because I didn't think that in depth about it, but now I am mad.

It's not real. It's just a tv show.

Enty's right about the criminal in the 3rd episode - he scared the hell out of me!

Not to mention its filmed in Vancouver morons.

My eyebrows went up, too. But, at that time, non-white men shrinks would be in institutions like prisons. It is low end and probably low paying.

Just a thought. JJ Abrams shows usually have a time traveling element. Perhaps Lucy went back in time from now? That would explain how she is a female doctor in the 1953. Maybe she is a present day character that traveled back in time, no a 1950's character that traveled forward.

I loved Lost. I watched the first three episodes of Alcatraz, but I just don't like it. It's not engaging enough. It's too formulaic. "Each week, we'll encounter another man from the past. There were a lot of them, so this show will be on the air for a while." Meh.

The flashbacks and the sound of the cell doors closing as you fade in and out is so Lost derivative. And it's an island.

Sam Neill just makes annoyed reaction faces. Hurley is Hurley. How could the main girl -- a whip-smart detective -- never have realized that her grandfather was an inmate? And they keep popping back over to the Rock home base from San Fran, but it's not like it's a 5-minute boat ride.

@ Nellie -- I said the same thing!

I will continue to watch just for Jorge. The last criminal was creepy, Enty.

PS --I'd wanna look for Hurley too.

My sentiments exactly. It just makes me miss LOST more.

@DanielAlex & @Nellie - My thoughts exactly. As soon as it was revealed Lucy was from the past, I thought that she must have traveled from the future back because there's no way in hell an Indian female doctor would have been allowed to work at Alcatraz in the 60s.

As an aside, yesterday they were filming in Vancouver near Cordova & Main (for those of you who know the area), down Main to the Port. My husband & I watch it just to see where in Vancouver we can recognize (he works in Gastown), though I have to say, I am pretty sucked in. I wasn't a fan of LOST though (so appeals to different tastes maybe?).

There's nothing to say that Parminder didn't originally go back to the 60s from this time period and then return.

I like it, although I hope it doesn't end up being just one person to catch each week like most other cop procedurals. It need a bit more than that if it's going to sustain the high-concept premise.
