The Duggars Want Another Baby

At what point do you give up having children? I think most people would stop when they make child number 20, have a very premature baby and then a stillbirth, but then again you are not a Duggar. I guess if you are the Duggar family you don't take birth control so if you are having sex once a month to try to make a baby, then you still want a baby. The Duggars said they would love to have a 21st baby. Obviously they can do whatever they want, but they went through so much with the birth of their 20th child and it must have been heartbreaking to lose their 21st in that sad of a way. You know what I wonder sometimes? I wonder if Michelle Duggar is addicted to being pregnant. Considering all those crazy addictive things I have seen people do on television, why can't a person be addicted to having kids or being pregnant? Maybe it is not just for the religious aspect, maybe she just can't get enough. If she is addicted, what is she going to do when she cannot physically get pregnant any longer?

Gross! When you have children the same age as your grandchildren it's time to stop. She is officially a peri menopausal woman who should not be having more kids. I think Enty may be right about her addiction. She been pregnant for the last 20 yrs. she has no identity besides this. And now no more TV show. Hmmm.... Maybe it's more about that than anything else.

I just don't get how her uterus is not dragging the ground leaving a snail trail behind her as she goes. I guess if you can afford them and want them, to each his own.

Or she is addicted to sex and not birth control.

Ok, I'm convinced it's his idea. Superreligious families are always controlled by the man; what he says goes. If her body is telling her no, he's right there saying "Honey, the lord knows better. Now let's make another baby! FOR THE LORD!!!"

He won't be happy until she's dead.

There is clearly an ideological drive behind this. These are Santorum anti-gay activists, after all. I think they're making a desperate stab to "save civilization" or "take back America" or something along those lines.

Why did god invent THE PILL?

I'm so glad I don't have cable. I don't want ONE CENT of my money going to this couple.

@Barton Fink, I think you're right; they think that they need to super-reproduce with the idea that they and others like them are the "only hope" for America the Beautiful.

And I think you're right too, @Vicki Cupper. They don't hide the fact that this is a male-dominated worldview. If Jim Bob Duggar says she needs to be pregnant even if it kills her, she'll think he knows God's will.

I assume at a certain point they just start falling out.

As a general rule, your Grandchildren shouldn't be older than your kids.

Brandy said...

Yes, she is addicted and it should be stopped. I'm all for live and let live, except when it negatively impacts children. At this point, the other children are paying for their "need" to reproduce like deranged bunnies.

SueRH said...

@Barton Fink - If that's the case, they're in trouble. With all of those children, at least one of them has to be gay.

BigMama said...

It is certainly possible she is addicted to pregnancy. Some women (sure as hell not me) feel great when they are pregnant. Their hormones are more balanced and they just enjoy the experience. Not my place to judge. I guess as long as they are able to provide for them and they are ok with it than whatever. I just worry about how she is going to cope when she really can't have anymore. If she is that used to the feeling, it is going to be quite literally painful for her.

Audrey said...

@ SueRH - LOL - what sweet justice that would be!

What Barton said -- and that is exactly why I feel justified in judging the SHIT out of these people, and Biblethumping breeders in general.

Her body. Her choice. Right???

loubea said...

I have two kids and am exhausted! I think they should write a book about how they have the time and inclination to have sex so much. What's the secret!

loubea said...

P.S. Maybe they should take in a six pack of Octomom's kids.

NernersHuman said...

@loubea, the secret is that at this stage of the game they have enough older children that they can fob a younger one off on an older one.

Lynette said...

Always remember reading the stat that one in ten people are gay. So they have at least two that are going to present a problem to their belief system. And it's him, not her, that runs the show. Ever see him on Say Yes to the Dress, when he sat and picked out her dress for their vow renewal? What a dick. (pun not intended).

CridChild said...

Yes, her body, her choice. And those kids are going to grow up to make their own choices. I always think it's funny that parents think they can control how their kids will be when they are adults. That's why the whole 'breed a super christian race' makes no sense to me.

Vicki Cupper said...

Loubea, you seriously think she's having sex for fun? It's his family and he says when they have sex whether she's exhausted or or sore or in labor.

And they have time because the older kids have absorbed the vast majority of parental duties/chores.

Mango said...

They are going to run out of "J" names soon. And what's up with that, anyway? Is it a salute to Jesus?

anita_mark said...

Didn't her doctor say getting pregnant again could kill her? He doesn't care, he gets to look like the most virile, sancitmonious Christian out there and that's probably more important than the lives of his family.

God that poor woman's Vag!

mikey said...

I really believe at this point it's a matter of them just not wanting to accept the fact they are getting older. Your baby making days are behind you - enjoy the grandkids. Under their rules, they should have taken the premie and the miscarriage as a sign from above that it's time to close shop.

Amartel said...

There's no limit on the number of offspring you can have as long as you're able. Well, at least not in the U.S./west. It's their thing, obviously, for whatever reason. Not particularly interested in the reason since they're not hurting anyone.
HINT: if everyone stops making a big deal out of it, it won't be a big deal.

Jasmine said...

Whoa, this is so cool.

I literally agree with every single poster on this thread!

LOVE when that happens! :))

Maja. With a J. said...

Her body, her choice - sure. But it also affects the lives of the 20 people she already put on the planet.

anita_mark said...

But Amartel, her doctors told her she should stop because it could kill her or the baby. So they'd rather risk her life and have all those kids be motherless just to have another???? Rather selfish thinking, in my opinion.

From what I've seen of this family the husband obviously runs the show. He comes off as one of those religious guys that is "head of the household" and has this need to control. Maybe HE needs more kids to boss around, for longer.

Honestly, this whole family disgusts me & I'm not sure why I commented on this story..

DixieTheNoble82 said...

^Yeah @Barton Fink & @Vicki nailed it.

Jennifer H. said...

I wonder if they would consider adoption? If they want more children and can afford them, there are plenty who need love. Unless this is selfishly all about them and has nothing to do with the actual children.

momof3 said...

Because they are quiverfull, follow the ATI movement, and believe they are literally creating "god's army". TLC has whitewashed them a lot to improve their PR image, but you can do a little research into their religious movement and find out all kinds of horrible things.

@Brandy - deranged bunnies..LOL I have a great visual!

lisap515 said...

Robert I actually remember that joke from his stand-up routine. LOL. How right he was...

auntliddy said...

Actually, JimBob has said many times its up to Michele, and shes all for it. I agree they dont want to accept they are getting older. And adoption wld be perfect for them- they hv a whole system there for kids!!

libby said...

I've said it before, but I don't understand how people can pick n choose their 'signs from god'. Every child is a 'blessing from god', but Michelle nearly dying, having a premie and then a stillbirth DON'T count as signs to them?

I can just see god up there wanting to smack a bitch. And her smug hubby.

RocketQueen said...

They're clearly going to keep trying as long as she's able, then when she's no longer able to become pregnant, that will be their "sign from god" to stop. Over it and giving attention to this family.

not on my dollar said...

Some women are addicted to the attention that they receive when pregnant.

Also I agree in super religious households it's the religious parent/s that control everything. In this case it's the father but in some cases it could have been the mother. I've never thought about that before but the statement is true as in our family. We were a Duggar type family but my mother was the religious controlling parent.

They have to have another kid now that their friends had a baby and have 19 kids.

I hope Josie, the little preemie doesn't end up with any long term delays or needs. They need to step off and free those teenage girls who are raising all these babies while mom is pregnant and let them go have some of their own kids.

Michelle loves "babies" once they are not infants, she hands them off to one of her older kids and gets pregnant again.

Brit K said...

Excuse me, but they most definitely are hurting people other than themselves and their children. In general, i have a problem with all large families, mainly because of overpopulation and resource issues... things along those lines. And i agree that she probably likes babies and as soon as they can write their name she passes them off

Lelaina Pierce said...

Her husband's name is JimBob??

It *is* her choice but if the posters saying she only likes them when they are babies & hands them off after is true...they are vile people.

therealjadedentrepreneur said...

She's an asshole for depriving her other 20 kids of any kind of a life since they've all been mothers and fathers since the day they were born. Quit fucking having kids. It's getting beyond ridiculous.

Henriette said...

I'm surprised she hasn't needed a hysterectomy yet. This whole story just frightens me.

yourfaceisamess said...

I wonder what the world record is of one woman having the most kids.

If this was before the 20th century half of these kids wouldn't have made it past 10, maybe even younger.

She needs to stop. After the premature baby & the stillbirth...I think that is a sign from "god" to f*cking give it a rest.

From Google:

Highest Recorded Number of Children

The highest officially recorded number of children born to one mother is 69, to the first wife of Feodor Vassilyev (1707-1782) of Shuya, Russia. Between 1725 and 1765, in a total of 27 confinements, she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets, and four sets of quadruplets. 67 of them survived infancy.

Highest Number of Children in Modern Times

The modern world record for giving birth is held by Leontina Albina from San Antonio, Chile. Leontina claims to be the mother of 64 children, of which only 55 of them are documented. She is listed in the 1999 Guinness World Records but dropped from later editions.

I'm really surprised people think she has a choice in this. They're in a cult; she has no say.
