The Chicken Came Before The Egg

In Sri Lanka, a hen gave birth to an egg less chicken. Apparently the chicken incubated and hatched inside the hen. No one has ever seen it before and it does seem to kind of prove that the chicken came before the egg. Apparently the hen died as a result of her injuries which means that if the chicken did come before the egg, then the chicken population would die off quickly if every birth resulted in a death. When I read the story I kind of imagined a scene from Twilight with the baby growing inside Bella and attacking the inside of her body. Having an egg hatch inside you would do that. The chick is fine and will be headed out on a world tour and has already been signed to their very own reality show, and is hoping to develop their own line of perfumes and cosmetics before joining Pamela Anderson in her fight to stop KFC across the globe.

Why are all the crazy animal stories in India and Sri Lanka?

not exactly what happened...the poor chook was eggbound for a long time with no relief. being eggbound for a chicken sucks and they act like they are in a lot of pain. i have had to check for stuck eggs in a couple of my hens and it is just as disgusting as how it sounds. when the tube isn't greased properly sometimes things don't slide through the way they should. no access to fresh water really ups the chances of having egg bound birds. (sorry, i farm eggs and was excited to see a story that i actually knew some background on)

So glad the question has finally been answered...

Now, what's the deal about crossing the road?

That little baby is sooo cute- I want to pop it in my mouth! awwwww

And I never cease to be amazed that chickens are the direct and closest descendents to the dinosaur !?
WTF?

I bet Brontosaurus and T-Rex would be hella pissed right now to know his littlest cousin was a chicken pecking for corn in a barn ;P

hey hey i am from sri lanka - please be nice.. i think its because of all the hormones used in today's poultry.. to make them bigger, faster, etc. you constantly hear of stories of girls attaining age early and little boys developing breasts.. i just wish we would stop interfering in ALL our foods and lets just eat organic and natural.. these companies are ruining our lives and health!
