Musings Of A Crew Member
This is the second in a series (hopefully) of crew members from different television shows and movies who are willing to share their thoughts or stories. This week brings us a guy in his 20's who does publicity for a television show which is in its first season.
I have only been in Los Angeles for a short time. I grew up in the Midwest and graduated from college there and made my way out here. I always wanted to work in Hollywood. I just didn't know how I was going to do it because I'm not good looking enough to be an actor. I came to that understanding a long time ago and have no sense of loss about being an actor. Directing was not an option because I don't have that kind of artistic vision. I am an artist though. My art just is in getting people to go see a movie or watch a show and make everyone and everything about the production look so good that you can't wait to see it. I'm on a show right now doing publicity. It's in its first year and the network is spending a ton of money to get people to watch so it has been really busy.
I wanted this job so bad. Not the working in Hollywood one, but this one. The one on this show. I wanted to meet the star of the show. I've had the biggest crush on her forever. Posters on the wall, day dreams, wet dreams, I've had them all for her. I remember that first day I saw her on set and go into her trailer. I died. I was f**king giddy. I know it will pass as I've been here longer, but that first time, I knew what it was like when all those girls scream at Bieber concerts. Can't describe the feeling. When I think about the feeling, I love it. I acted all cool about it but inside, I was busting out and this was just from across a parking lot.
When I actually met her, in person and shook her hand I almost froze. I had to talk to her about what we had planned for her and even though there were ten other people with her and doing things for her, she gave me her full attention. Her eyes just drilled right into mine and I could tell I had her to myself for those 45 seconds. Well, she made me feel like I did. And just like that it was gone. She concluded we had finished out business and she started making someone else feel like they were the only person. I wanted that feeling back. Hey, my turn. Over here. The tall blonde guy in the corner. Yo. Instead I was ushered out. It was kind of like a first kiss with someone. The first time is once in a lifetime but you never get that feeling back exactly again. I heard heroin is like that. That first time is euphoric and you spend the rest of your addiction always trying to get that same feeling but you don't, no matter how much you try.
I see my crush a few times each day and talk to her once or twice a day. She still makes me feel like I'm the only person in the world when she's talking to me, but I've seen her do it to so many people now and so many situations that I know it's a skill she has. A damn good one which is why she keeps going from one show to the next and a bunch of movies in between. I think all I've been hoping for is that she didn't disappoint my dream of her or fantasy and she hasn't. Can she be a pain? Oh yeah. But the good outweighs the bad. I just didn't want to have my dreams crushed with this one person. Others can disappoint me and have. But this one, my crush, I wanted to be just like I imagined. She has. She even got me a birthday card on my birthday and kissed me on the cheek. Framed the card. Don't tell anyone.

Enty, you done good with this one. I can't put my finger on what makes it so, probably the crush and lack of disappointment... or simply, the good feeling it reads. It's nice to get these "blinds," keep the series going!!
Not Smash - that films in NY - at first I thought Happy Endings but none of the people have been in movies or other shows (for the most part). What other new shows are in LA? Up All Night hasn't gotten a ton of promotion - am thinking Ringer w/SMG or Client List. Though I've heard SMG is a b*tch - so not sure this sounds like her.

This fits Jennifer Love Hewitt. She's been a star long enough now to where young adults could have grown up with crushes on her. That doesn't fit Zooey Deschanel.
Neither JLH or SMG really go from tv show to tv show with a bunch of movies in between.
The CW hasn't put a lot of money on SMG.
Working with Jennifer Love Hewitt would have made the guy realize she's boring and not very smart.

Zooey. A guy in his 20s who calls himself an artist wouldn't admit he still has wet dreams about Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt or Christina Applegate, or it means that he started to be sexually aroused when he was four or five.
Fox did lots of promo for The New Girl and Zooey is exactly the kind of actress who has a ton of indie cred: movies, music. She would be the object of many hipster crushes, right in front of Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs from Community. And she's has very distinctive blue eyes.
I'd guess The Ringer or Up All Night. I would say Christina Applegate is more 'wet dream' material than SMG, but I guess it depends on the guy.

I'm with Angela on this one -Zooey fits perfectly. and I LOVE her so its so nice to hear she's sweet in person.
If Dude is a geek than I am going with SMG. I have read similar comments about her. And she did do a bunch of movies in between TV series. But when I read it, I was actually thinking of The Zooey because it just seems like it's her.

I don't see how it could be Zooey. She has done lots of movies, but this is her first starring role in a show. She guest starred on Bones and Weeds but, she is generally known as a movie actress. She also hasn't been famous for long enough for this guy to have grown up with posters on his wall.
I was thinking JLH or SMG too. If he's in his twenties like me, he could have grown up with SMG on is walls. Buffy was huge when I was in middle/high school and everyone knew SMG and Buffy in in elementary school. But, I don't think CW has put tons of money into Ringer. You see stuff to the Client List everywhere....so maybe it is JLH.

I love the JLH guess. She seems like she would have a ton of charisma. She attracts many guys. She just can't keep them after the charm wears off.
I hope Enty keeps this feature going. I love the inside stories. And kudos to the author of this post, who has confidence and an engaging style of writing.

I can see this being Jennifer Love Hewitt. I was an extra on a special she filmed at my high school. This was at the height of her Party of Five fame. She was really personable and very easy to talk to. I didn't even think she was hot before that, but man she sold me.
SMG doesn't go from show to show. Half of the TV shows she has been on were before she was 18. Swans Crossing fans anyone?;)
It has to be someone who has done TV shows in the past and does a bunch of movies in between. That rules out Zooey D. This is their first TV series (if I'm correct).
Love the Xtina Applegate guess. She's done a bunch of movies. JLH...not sure...also SMG...she seems like a biatch. Claire Danes...maybe, but she's not really a sex, wet dream symbol.
I'm gonna go against the popular opinion here (I'm also relatively new here, hi everyone!), but I was also maybe thinking Ginnifer Goodwin? She's a cute, relatively likeable actress, ABC is throwing a TON of money into the show she's on, and she works in both movies and TV.

How about American Horror Story as the show, with Jessica Lange as the actress. That show was promoted so heavily in lots of clever ways. And yes indeed, she may be older know, but she has always been hot stuff.
Heard the same about Chenoweth, and I wish more clues fit, but this sounds like JLH. Would be thrilled for it to be Chenoweth though, love that show!! Lol

I agree this fits Christina Applegate the most. She's done I think 4 or 5 tv series and movies too. Every boy thinks Kelly Bundy is hot as shit, even if they were watching it in syndication I could see the new generation loving her. Plus, she's still gorgeous.

I really think this is Zooey. She's done quite a lot of movies including Elf, Yes Man with Jim Carrey and 500 Days of Summer with JGL. This guy is young and fresh out of college; Zooey is perfect for that age. JLH and SMG are too old for that kind of fresh out of college crush IMHO.

Has anyone guessed Claire Danes? Homeland is filming S2 now, HBO put a ton of money the show which is still new (so I could see "in it's first year" meaning not that S1 is out now), and a lot of guys around my age grew up crushing hard on Angela Chase. Claire does seem to get work steadily too. And she's in yesterday's photos with a kind of wierd caption.
But otherwise I agree The Zooey (although that would also be S2).
I am firmly in the Zooey camp for this one.
"she keeps going from one show to the next" makes me think that the actress was very non-committal with TV. Christina Applegate was always a series regular on failed shows. Zooey flitted between shows by doing very successful/memorable guest arcs and then kept doing movies in between.
Fox has been throwing tons of money at the New Girl seeing as how it is the only Fox show that has really performed well this year.
Based on all of the clues, especially the 'movies to TV' comment, I would go with Hewitt or Applegate. Applegate was my first thought while reading it.
As for the writing, obviously its a mix of the crew member and Enty, who filled in the clues in blind item language.

I don't have a guess other than to say I don't think it is Zooey because this is her first tv show, and her career hasn't been one where she'd have been on a lot of posters, etc . . .
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I do think this is a real post from someone other than Enty, and I like it!! It's nice. It's upbeat. It's enthusiastic. All while being entirely believable. I feel kind of sad for those of you that find this happy post boring.
If we're going to call bs on any of the blinds, let's do it on the weird, dark, twisted, abusive sexual ones. Frankly, some of those have a little too much detail for things that contain so much deeply secretive and perverse behaviors. If I'm going to take any blinds with several thousand grains of salt, it will be those. There isn't anything about this blind that seems hard to believe.

Applegate. Up All Night had a lot of publicity before the pilot aired and that publicity sucked me right in to the show. It's great!
I think it's Christina Applegate if this writer is 28-29; SMG (JLH didn't have posters) if the writer is mid 20's; Zooey if the person is 22-23. But did Zooey have posters? has she done photoshoots that could be clipped & hung as posters?
I hope it's Christina Applegate. I only became a fan after I found out she REALLY was not Kelly Bundy, that she really could act. And i loved her in "Anchorman" . You usually see the affable-but-average Christine Taylor in every one of those movies, but Applegate really is a much better actress and presence. and still very hot. jmo

Henriette---I was at 2 Bill Clinton rallies in 1992. I was only 21, and didn't think he was sexy AT ALL (from the t.v.) until I spoke to him on the rope line. In the middle of a scrum of people, he looks straight at you and you're the only person in the world.
The second rally i kissed his cheek. I remember being startled that his cheek was just normal skin and he was just a man. lol

Haha, I was so sure everyone was going to say 'who cares!' to this one because it doesnt say anything really. Just a guy who is into a girl on a show who is good at possibly feigning interest in everyone she meets. I am surprised that anyone cares but your guesses are all good and I have to say I think the SMG and JLH and ZD are the best. But this is just so ordinary. I guess Im curious, does this guy not sound like a potential stalker to anyone else? He has posters of this girl, put a good deal of heart and soul to get this job and is making the most out of every interaction with her, be it 45 seconds even, and then writes this really ordinary letter to ENTY about it like he is a star crossed lover? How creepy. Note to actress: Watch out for tall blonde glassy eyed lurker. He has a shrine and too much of a focus on you. I get a crush, but when you go out of your way to work with someone and collect their posters and fixate this much, you have issues. This is creepy!
Not Zooey. This is her first big foray into tv besides a few scattered guest appearances. She's isn't "going from one show to the next." Christina Applegate on the other hand had "Samantha Who" then did movies "Going the Distance" & "Hall Pass" & then back to tv for "Up All Night." Plus, I can see a 20ish guy following her career for awhile. I can't get behind JLH unless he's talking about tv movies.

Er, sometimes y'all are so estrogen-soused you ignore obvious realities. However horny a young guy might have been for Applegate once, after her double mastectomy 99% aren't anymore. Not taking anything away from her beauty and talent on Up All Night, but that's reality from the dick-swinging side of the gender line.
I've heard that about Bill Clinton, too--he's extremely charismatic and charming in person. IIRC, he was in Harvard Square at one point when the DNC was in town back in '04, and you would have thought it was Mick Jagger from the reactions he was getting. (IIRC, Billy Bob Thornton has some of that as well, which is how he's been able to snag so many women over the years.)
As for the actress in question, no idea right now. I'm thinking it's someone who was popular around 2000, perhaps late '90s, probably in her 30s now. Who was big enough then that there would have been posters of her?
And what's your point? He can't be a potential stalker? He goes to Hollywood and purposefully gets a job to be near a girl he has a ginormous 'crush' on and pines over, etc. Really? That's too broad and far reaching an idea? Because no one ever stalks celebrities in Hollywood, that would be outrageous. Anyway, potential being the operative word, what's your deal with that?

Yeah, I find the charisma angle of this blind interesting. There books out now about how anyone can be charismatic: direct eye contact, presence, firm handshake, but I don't buy that. I think it is a gift.
Even with the hubs, I have problems with it. There is almost a fake quality to it for me. I know my hubby is being genuine, and maybe Clinton too, but it makes me feel like being in a herd.

I'm going with Christina Applegate here because, well, because I've been there and done that. When MWC was on the air I watched it every week just to gawk at her. I even put together an online fan page for her for a while. She strikes me as exactly the sort of person who could charm the pants off just about anyone she wants to. SMG always struck me as a cold fish. And as pretty as JLH is I've never met a guy who had any kind of crush on her.
I just don't understand why you would come here or bother to comment if you think it's all bs. Just doesn't compute. There is fiction on the interwebz that's written much better than this.

While it reads like Zooey D. until the "show to show" comment, my money is on Emily Van Camp (Revenge). Plenty of guys throughout their now-20's had teenage crushes on her during Everwood, and she's only become more attractive and successful since then. Revenge has received a ton of publicity, and she has both a sweetness and an intensity about her that suggest an ability to make anyone feel like the only person in the room (if only for a moment).
He would be too young to have a long-standing Christina Applegate crush; SMG probably not, as Ringer is as good as dead; and if the actress were JLH there would have been some mention of her also flitting from man to man - because let's face it, that's the role she is most famous for. If it's not Emily, my second guess would be Elisha Cuthbert (Happy Endings), although that show is in its second season.

So you're saying that speaking for the male gender, because a woman had breast cancer, had a double mastectomy, but got reconstructive surgery to get new breasts that look fine to me, and is still plenty gorgeous, that you're not attracted to her because she doesn't have her original boobs? Or what in god's name are you trying to say?
