The premiere that Michael and Rachel are at is for a project of his called The Gospel of Us--back in the day (we're talking Medieval/Renaissance times, although I think these were done in some areas into the 19th century), it was very common for a town to put on a Passion Play about the last week of Christ's life, with various townspeople in all the roles. What he did is to go back to his hometown in Wales, which he's apparently still very close to, and put on a large-scale Passion Play set more-or-less in the modern day last year over a period of several days, with over 1,000 people in acting roles alone, and from the looks of it on the BBC news site, most of the rest of the town watching. (Yes, he was Jesus--there were a few other professional actors involved who were friends of his--but while it might be the lead role, looking at the pictures again suggests it wasn't necessarily a fun one, even if they didn't actually nail him to the cross...) Anyway, they filmed the whole thing, and this year was the premiere of the film back in his hometown--it was a HUGE hit, with all the theaters selling out immediately, and everyone involved very proud of how it all turned out and their part in it, however small. Go check it out, OK?
