Robin Gibb Is In A Coma

Robin Gibb has been fighting and fighting for the past year to stay alive and beat liver and colon cancer but doctors are reporting that the Bee Gees singer is now in a coma and may only have a few days left to live. I'm not a death watch kind of guy but I thought it couldn't hurt to put some good feelings out there for the guy and his family. What could it hurt?

Seriously bummed. I'm a big BeeGees fan. My 8-year-old was going around the house singing "Strategy" this morning. That is what he thinks they are singing in "Tragedy."

Nothing to add to what Dixie said.

that poor family has had its share of tragedy indeed....Andy, Maurice and now Robin....

I love the Bee Gees. I'm sending my prayers to Robin and his family. Thank you for posting that clip, Enty.

I totally forgot that Maurice had already passed on.

Sorry to hear about Robin though.

My best friends in high school were huge BeeGee's fans so I kind of absorbed their music because of them.

Wow, a year is a long time with liver cancer I lost one of my dearest friends to it and he was gone in 3 months.
I wish him and his family well...

I saw a recent picture of him on the news this morning. He looked like he weighs maybe 80 pounds - just awful. I wish him well.

I still love the Bee Gees music so, what Dixie said.

This breaks my heart.

Sadly, Andy killed himself. His heart gave out because of his former drug abuse.

My first concert was a Bee Gees concert. Disco ball and all. We're all getting old.

For so long no one would admit it was cancer--just that it was a stomach/intestinal condition. So, maybe I'm naive but this comes as a shock. I had hoped they could get it under control...I didn't realize it was truly exactly what it looked like. At least in a coma he is less likely to be suffering pain. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world--you brought joy to so many people.

Very sad. I still remember dancing to the Saturday Night Fever album at my Sweet 16.

I lost my virginity to a Bee Gees song (practically) so this to, saddens me. May his family find strength in each other and peace knowing what pleasure his talent brought to the world.

I will say a prayer for him and his family.

As for Ryan fuckwad Oneal. Not so much.

I always thought they got robbed at the Oscars the year their songs were not nominated for Saturday Night Fever.
I pray for blessings to Robin and his family.

What Dixie and Del said.
Yes, they have saying its 'live and intestinal' problem. Does anyone know why they do that? Why not just say u have cancer? Of course its his life anx illness and he can/did handle as he wanted, but I just dong get the deniL. It comes out in the end anyway.

Nice video, it's lovely to be reminded of the scope of their music. Almost all the media refers to them as a disco group, and they were oh so much more than that. I'm sorry to see it ending.

All my love to Robin and his whole family. I deeply hope somehow he pulls through. He seems like a beautiful soul.

He was always my favorite BeeGee. And ditto to what bored soccer mom said.

Sadness. :( They were such a big part of my and my lil' sis' teen years. I loved their older stuff - pre-"Saturday Night Fever". My sis had a massive crush on Barry, then Andy Gibb. The Gibb brothers have brought so many people many years of pleasure with their music and good looks. I wish Robin and the Gibb family all the best.

Great video, btw. Thank you, dear Enty!

Wow. What a video, melted me. Forgot how many beautiful songs they wrote and sang. They deserved all the accolades. Sad for Barry, praying for Robin.

I loved the BeeGees as a "disco-goer" in the 80's. Makes me sad for Barry to be the remaining brother- I'm sure the parents must be dead by now. Watch for the shows about them on "Biography" that are sure to be shown again if/when he passes, they were great. Such a talented family. Best to the family and prayers for Robin.

The last time I saw a photo of him I gasped. It's very, very sad.

I was just listening to Andy Gibb last night. I was thinking how sad the family was over his death.

hothotheat said...

I think their Mom is still alive. They have an older sister as well who I believe is still alive.

So sad for Barry. Here's hoping Robin pulls through.

I believe they are the only 'Disco Era' musicians that have survived generations. Even my heavy metal friends appreciate a great BeeGees song. 25 years later, they're still so cool. No shame blasting it around a campfire :)

Bless them all for gracing us with such beautiful music & the fondest of memories.

hothotheat said...

mygeorgie, you do realize they first became famous in the 60's with "Massachusetts", "Words", "I Started A Joke" and several other songs. The Saturday Night Fever era was their come back.

Alicia said...

Sweet post Enty :) lots of love RG

@hothotheat: Sorry, I was just a peanut in the 60's, but a discoqueen in highschool, surrounded by ACDC :)
