Queen Latifah Headlining Long Beach Pride Festival
Monica sent me a link to a press release which announced that Queen Latifah is going to be headlining and the guest of honor at the Long Beach Gay Pride Festival. Over at sandrarose.com she says this is Queen coming out. I see it more as a support statement and a paycheck. More of the support rather than the pay because I don't think the Long Beach Pride Festival has that big of a budget. Maybe it is a step towards Queen Latifah coming out, but I think it is more of her just supporting a cause she believes in.

The Queen would be such an articulate spokesperson, if she decided to become one. It's especially hard being gay in the Black community, so maybe she could get some moms & memaws to understand their kids better!

I would love for her to come out, but its her decision. She such a strong woman, she's a good spokesperson for all of us and doesn't need to be limited to Black and/or Gay. I kind of wish she would put herself out there more so that people had a better idea just how smart she is, but I understand she prefers to stay fairly private.
She's gorgeous! And coming out will ultimately be her own choice. Perhaps this is a baby step to see what the reaction would be.
Maybe she just wants to live her life, rather than be a spokesperson. I agree with everyone - she's gorgeous, smart & talented. What a combination.

Love her. She's gorgeous, incredibly talented and a smart business woman. Doesn't matter if she feels her private life should be private.
Looking at that old pic on Sandra Rose, I wonder if she had her nose tweaked. Whatevs... she's gorgeous.

Btw, I think she is (was?) a CoverGirl spokesperson.
She's still with Cover Girl and has the Queen collection for Black women.

That photo is photoshopped, but not by much. A google image search turns up a lot of candid photos that look similar enough. She's lost a fair amount of weight and had breast reduction surgery so she does look a little bit different lately than most people might remember. Guess we'll get lots more photos of her on May 19th when she appears at Long Beach Pride.
Speak of the devil, she's on HSN right now selling her Queen Collection (until 1 pm Pacific time). She looks a little bit heavier than the last time I remember seeing her, but she seems to be having a great time talking about clothes and handbags.
Please Enty, do yourself a favor and never utter another word in connection with Sandra Rose. That woman is a certified dumb ass and hater. With her logic, I guess Diana Ross headlining the Pride Festival in LA one year amongst all of the other straight perfomers were their coming out as well.
Sandra Rose is a bitter, blackened fungus, so please stay away.

Long Beach has the 3rd largest Pride Festival in the country. Between that and the Grand Prix,, the LBC makes bank. She'll be disappointing a lot of people I know if it is just for the paycheck, which could be substantial...
too bad Robin Roberts didn't come out after she was used for Obama's song and dance "coming out".
She looks absolutely nothing like that in person. Not even close . She has been "out" for years in So. FL. and walks around quite comfortably with her "natural" face. She has a wonderful voice and is a delight to be around.

Queen Latifah has never embraced the role of role model.
As one of the larger women in showbiz, she has refused to speak out against sizeism or to champion having more larger women allowed on screen. She could have been such a powerful voice for size acceptance.
I don't see her being any sort of gay champion, either.
