What A list pop singer called up the boyfriend she had dumped two weeks earlier and begged him to go out with her. She ended up getting drunk and doing way more on their date than she intended, but knew she needed to take all precautions to avoid ending up naked in bed with her ex which is what he had proposed when he called two days before.

As much as i hate her music she really seems like a sweet and funny woman so this is sad.

I don't hate Katy and while I don't find Russell Brand particularly good looking, I have found him funny.
It seems like something is happening to Katy, maybe drinking and partying, but if she's not careful, she's going to lose it all. It may just be a pop singing career but that's a life of millions of dollars she could end up throwing out the window.
I hate that she is considered A list!

I saw her concert pic (don't ask and don't judge) where it looks like Brandt wanted kids and Perry wasn't ready.
My first husband was like that. I was 23 and WAY too young, so it ended. I actually felt pretty sorry for Perry. I could relate.
Sure, the footage was probably edited to make her look sad, but it looked like Brandt dropped a bomb on her.

Think its the singer-guy instead of Brand. tbh, think Katy is pissed at Brand, doubt she would considering sleeping with him (she changed the lyrics to one of her songs before she performed (right after the breakup) so it kinda dissed Brand, she had all these vague twitter-updates about 'truth that will prevail' etc)
I am on Brands side in this breakup.. Lost all respect for Katy when she was at an awardshow, standing next to Brand, screaming she was sooooo drunk and having so much fun. Not once, but everytime she was interviewed. This while her exhusband is a recovering alcoholic, standing right next to her while she brags about being so wild etc.. Bleh immature. And lately she looks messed up a lot.. and all the coke-rumors.. nah.

@Henriette: Ah, so that was mentioned in the movie.. I thought it was just gossip, all the kidsrumors, tabloids making it up to come with a plausible story for the breakup.
It's hard when you are at different points in your life. Think Katy was too young, maybe trying to be some kind of rebel by being with Brand (before and after marriage she is all about Jesus, during the marriage she didn't mention God that much), since he is all exciting etc with his controversy . After meeting her he seemed more serious. Think Brand wanted to be serious, really settle down, but Katy wasn't ready to slow her career down (I don't blame her, she is at her prime now). But think there were more things, like the stuff I posted in a previous comment. Think Brand is back to his womanizing ways btw.. I like the guy, don't ask me why, think he is kinda lost though. Katy really saved him I think. Sad it ended, but sometimes it just doesn't work out.

From what I could see, Brandt pursued Perry really hard and she fell for him. Now Brandt is 11 years older than Perry and has been around the block. If he wanted to settle down and do the kids thing, he should have picked a woman at that stage of her life.
I don't think these two really talked about their life goals before they married. She is a drinker, and he is trying to keep sober, etc.
They were both at fault, but Brandt is older and should have known better.

@Henriette; you got a point there; agree they didn't really discuss their differences etc... They got engaged after a couple of months, and spent most time apart because Katy was on tour I believe. Think they were rather impulsive getting together and getting serious so fast, without actually getting to know eachother better.
Think somewhere along the line suddenly Katy was like 'hey, I am waaaay too young for all of this, I wanna party and do young people stuff', Don't think Brand thought about it at all, being smitten by Katy.. Not the best thing to do xD
Also Katy seems to be very religious (as well (especially!) her parents) while Brand has no problem with being controversial and slighty blasphemous at times.. And think he is into Buddishm/Hare Krishna stuff.. How were they ever gonna decide how to raise kids? What religion, who stays at home to watch the kids (can't be just nannies)etc etc..
So yeah.. not really surprising it ended..
6 in the morning here and I'm dissecting people's marriages. I have no life hahahaa

@Shit You Can't Buy - everything you said is exactly how I felt about their relationship! I have nothing too big against either one of them, tbh, but I just felt like they went into things too fast, didn't spend enough time with each other, and were TOO different to maintain a good relationship together.
@Shit you can't buy: I can never understand why there's a need to pick a side when it's obvious BOTH jumped into a marriage they were ill suited for. Katy's in her 20's, is NOT an alcohilic and she's at the peak of her career. Brand's in his 30's, has prior issues of sex addiction that manifested themselves in their relationship with all the cheating he did.
He cheated throughtout their marriage and she was busy with her career enjoying being a rock star. Nothing wrong with that. They were both unwilling to make compromises. They're at different stages in their lives.
Hey, at least she knew better then to hook up with the ex. That can be mighty tempting.

@Liz; I don't think he cheated, have never heard rumors about that, only stories of things he did before he got with her (yeah, those weren't pretty xD). But yeah, I am sure he is no angel and it wouldn't surprise me he is back womanizing again. If he actually was cheating.. not good.
Yeah maybe I am too eager to pick sides, maybe it's because Katy always strikes me as someone who hides a lot of stuff and has problems with knowing who she is, and I don't get that idea with Brand, he seems too open actually xD. Maybe I'm naive, but ok xD
I just found that 'omg I am soooo drunk' very painful to watch, maybe she is young (hey I am the same age, now I feel young xD) but still.. very disrespecting towards him.. I was like 'woman, please shut up, you are embarrasing yourself and your husband by acting like this'. Of course when you have a partner who doesn't have the same attitude towards drinking doesn't mean you should stop drinking too, but that moment, nah.. I felt ashamed for them..
In general, yeah, got married waaaaay too soon, without actually knowing eachother..

Never liked Katy Perry until I saw her on Graham Norton. She was surprisingly funny and made lots of jokes about herself. Good for her!
As I watched I thought, maybe Russell couldn't take that she was funnier and more talented? I love him too. So no man bashing from me.
