Florida Politicians Sure Know How To Party

I don't think there has been a political sex scandal this much fun since Anthony Weiner. Of course with him, it was always going to be fun because of his name. This one involves Jennifer Carroll (photo above is with the Governor). She is the Lt. Governor of Florida. That would be a similar role to a Vice-President. Anyway, Jennifer is married. She is also a very staunch Republican. She is against gay marriage. She is also being accused by a former employee of having a same sex affair with her "special" assistant. Apparently the former employee walked in on the couple in Carroll's office when they were in a position which cannot be explained away. Always lock your office doors. The former employee was also told that when the women traveled she was to put them in adjoining rooms. Always. Oh, except for when Jennifer's husband was traveling with her. That happened one time and there was a warning to never let that happen again. The Lt. Governor has denied it all, but some of the details are just too real.

People think celebs not coming out hurts the cause..its these self loathing politicians who actively pass anti-gay legislation, they do the most damage.

It's always the homophobes who turn out to be hiding something...just like in Scientology. I hope we as a society are starting to overcome this ridiculous and dangerous attitude.

I find it funny that the Republicans who are caught are always caught with someone of the same sex and always are very anti-gay. I also find it sad that they're living in such misery. It's like they can't be happy, so why should anyone else?

The two rules for politicians wanting to survive a sex scandal are "Never get caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy". She was caught with a live girl. No problem.

I know someone who lost their job having sex in the office. They were caught by the security guard. He was fired on the spot and she survived due to him being the hire ranking person and should of known better. The funny thing was he had an employment contract and sued to get his job back.

His lawyer argued nowhere in his contract does it say he can't have sex in an office. He got his job back, but im sure he has a pretty tight moral clause in there now.

Once people gain power its all about do what I say not what I do. I'm sure she had the hanky panky going on under the guise of happily married hetero republican lover.

So because someone (who is a former eomployee --- were they fired?) says it happened, it happened? Is there proof, or just a former employee's word?

Interesting how this stuff comes out in an election year. Unless there's actual photographic or audio proof, I'd take it with a grain of salt. No matter what side of the political aisle you're on.

@hunter - he just had a wide shitting stance!!

Lol, yeah that one was good.

timebob - cool story - "my contract did not specify no sex in the office"

Carebear and Strawberry said it best!

If she was willing to be an authentic person, whether that be lesbian or bi, she would be able to help so many other people. Instead she chooses to be a coward and hide. Fear and self loathing win again :(

Remember when George from Seinfeld had sex in the office: "Was that wrong? Because if at any time I knew that was wrong...." LOL
Hypocritical GOP once again!!!!!

Are there any moral politicians out there?

This is why Republicans get angry and feel singled out by the left. Yes, all politicians have their peccadilloes. But Democrats are equal opportunity sluts-they don't try to legislate what the rest of us can do with our bodies-"family values", abstinence, laws against birth control and gay marriage, while they do whatever they want.

When I was a federal employee, I had check out the Code of Conduct for something. I recall that it specifically stated that sexual relations on government premises were punishable by dismissal.

Ugh....Rick Scott is trash - anything to tarnish him is a-ok in my book.

Shit, I'm a government (state) employee, and I can be fired for drinking literally one glass of wine at a luncheon. I'm pretty sure the morals clause covers having sex in the office -- not that I would want to have sex with ANYONE I work with. Gross!

And before everyone gets excited about having the opportunity to be all, "Repubs are all hypocrites!" remember, there are plenty of hypocritical Dems, as well. Kennedys legislating to integrate Boston schools while sending their own kids to private schools, Edwards bragging about how he's all about the "common man" while living his multi-millionaire life, etc. Politics -- where egotism and hypocrisy go hand in hand, no matter the party.

Sorry, I don't see a problem with the Kennedy family sending their kids to private schools. They wanted their kids to have a Catholic education and they know that religion has no place in public schools. Good for them. Probably shouldn't be too hard to find some other Ted Kennedy hypocrisy.

Dems are hypocrites, but Repubs usually get caught in the high and mighty moral/sexual hypocrisy. That's what makes it so fun. Like the racist white guy who fathered a child with a Black woman; the moral, gay bashing guy texting young male pages or tapping out messages in the airport bathroom. There are so many. But, its apparently a named psychological phenom that you are fascinated by the very thing you claim to be most disgusted by, like Eliot Spitzer (Dem) railing against prostitution at the same time he was seeing a high priced call girl. Politicians are such fun.

From the Tampa Bay Times:

"Cole was fired in September 2011 for complaining about the office to the Florida Times-Union, Carroll's hometown paper in Jacksonville.

At the time, she told the newspaper that Carroll's office suffered from infighting and personal attacks. Within weeks of her firing, Cole began a campaign to implicate her former boss, alleging widespread misconduct at Carroll's office.

In a barrage of press releases, emails, court documents, tweets and an online petition, Cole has made several allegations against her former boss. Her goal, she has said, is to see Carroll impeached."

The accuser, Carletha Cole, is facing 5 years in jail for secretly recording and then releasing to newspapers conversations with staffers. Until she was arrested and charged for that, Cole never said anything about a lesbian affair.

FS, I don't see anything wrong with sending your kids to private schools, either. My brother and I both attended parochial schools. But if you are, at the same time, leading the charge to forcibly integrate the public schools in your area, causing both long commutes for children and sparking racial violence, I think it's more than a little hypocritical to send your own children to some lily-white private school. To me, it's saying that everyone else's kids have to suffer through, but not my kid.

Her biggest problem is allegedly taping conversations without the other person's knowledge. Florida is a two party state (both parties to a conversation must be aware that they're being taped) and that law is taken VERY seriously here. We have to occasionally tape witness statements and we usually ask both at the beginning and end of the tape that they are aware they are/were being taped.

Moosefan said...

@texshan-you are right that both parties have hypocrites. But a political sex scandal in an election year?! That's lottery right there!

It can't be. She's a woman.

So although the Kennedy's would have sent their kids to private, Catholic schools, regardless of school integration passing or not, are you implying that said Catholic schools were themselves segregated, because then that would be a hypocrisy. If there were students of color at those schools, what's the hypocrisy exactly?

mooshki said...

I hate these fucking hypocrites.

Iwinjen said...

I did more research on this...this is so obviously a bogus claim. Would have been very interesting if it were true...but the woman making the claim isn't even kinda-sorta good at lying.

Anonymous said...

The hypocrisy is insisting on one type of education for everyone ELSE's kids while sending your own to lily-white private boarding schools (none of Ted Kennedy's kids went to Catholic school, BTW). Do some research into Boston public school integration. It was a nightmare filled with racism and violence. The Democratic judge responsible for the plan, Garrity, lived in an all-white suburb, so his kids were unaffected.

I don't want to continue to harp on Kennedy. My point was that hypocrisy is rife in politicians of every political persuasion, so people shouldn't feel so superior when it's exposed in someone they don't care for. All politicians are full of shit.

Agent**It said...

Full of shit indeed ! I was in Boston during desegregation, went to parochial school like everybody else. It was one of the worst, stupid social experiment of all time, court-ordered busing of students into inner-city schools to achieve integration. I remember Louisa Day Hicks was the leader of the opposition. Pretty interesting history.

Re this new scandal, 'sometimes' Enty- you did leave out pertinent facts. The woman facing federal charges is an Obama supporter.
