Random Photos Part Three

"Good news kids. You are all being adopted by Lara Croft.
Dakota Fanning is all grown up.
So, is Emma Watson. Twice in a week that she has gone the side boob route.
Cassandra Bankson and her debut at Fashion Week.
On hand at Calvin Klein were Amy Adams, Emma Stone and Diane Kruger.
A very bright looking Jessica Alba was also in NYC.
Ditto Kate Gosselin who walked for charity.
This is her getting made up.
In first grade and still being carried. Going to be very awkward at high school graduation for Katie to carry Suri to the stage.

I love Jessica's outfit!

I have no love for those Fanning girls, too Olsen-like or something.

LOL at the Lara Croft remark.

Katie-cut the apron strings a bit, you don't want a 60 year old Suri still living with you when you retire do you?

Emma's shoes are adorable.

Man, my daughter was born within a few weeks of Suri, and I just can't imagine carrying her! She's 52 lbs for one thing, and she wants to be a big girl!

LadyLagerfeld said...

I love paparazzi shots as much as the next girl- I wouldn't be on this site otherwise- but I wish they would stop shooting children. I would wager that Suri is always being held because it's intimidating and scary for a 6-year-old to be regularly followed by dozens of strange men who are taking her picture and yelling her name.

urban chaos said...

I'm giving Suri a pass- she's always dealing with cameras and people trying to snap a pic.

In this case shes hiding her head in shame at her mothers outfit.

ForSure said...

Yep, I'm board with the people who think Suri is carried because papparazzi are scary folks. And if I was her mother, I would probably do the same thing.

I think it's great that Cassandra is doing fashion week, but a part of me hope it's just a one time thing. I've watched a few of her videos and she has her moments of intense weakness and insecurity still, and the fashion industry is not the place to be for someone like that. I can imagine the crap she would have to deal with on a regular basis, and I'm sure someone would make a stupid comment and add weight issues to her concerns about her acne. Hopefully she can just go back to being a normal girl at home after this week.

My older sisters held and carried me until my feet dragged the ground. And I think I turned out okay. At least I think I turned out okay. . .

I wish Emma would go back to red, she looks too much like everyone else now. Love her though.

Love Emma Watson.

I was looking at the pic of Amy Adams wondering if she was the one single white femaling Jessica Alba when lo and behold there's Jessica.

~mara said...

that looks like either an "I don't want to go" or a "I had an awful day" kind of carry. She might get away with it today.

jaariel said...

I'm no fan of hers, but I find it sort of amazing how Kate Gosselin took her plain-Jane, run of the mill looks and transformed herself into quite a pretty (on the outside) woman.

I know I could look a whole lot prettier if I lost weight, changed my hair, & got a tan. In fact I used to be quite pretty too, but illness and life and meds have got the better of me, and now no one looks twice at me.

Looking "my best" requires time, effort, & discipline that I usually give to my family. I wonder, do other women feel the same way? Or is everyone presenting themselves at their "personal best" ? If not, why? Is it really important?

I'm interested in Alice's Tea Cup. Their web site is cool. Suri must really hate people with cameras. Kat'e back is going to give out, maybe they should move to a ritzy but quiet suburb.

Carolyn said...

It scars me greatly to admit this, but Kate Gosselin looks gorgeous, especially in the picture where they are getting her ready. I didn't even realize it was her.

I'm getting tired of seeing Katie & Suri in the papers each day. There are 1000s of celebrities in NY and they usually manage to avoid being photographed.

They have private entrances to garages, tinted SUVs, security, etc. I'm sure Katie has a nanny and assistant who can run errands for her.

I think she's tipping the photogs off herself.

And that's not an infant, it's a six-year-old girl. Put her down and let her use those leg muscles before they atrophy.

I realize that Suri is one of the most recognizable 6-y-os on the planet, but if she were just being brought to school by a nanny and bodyguard, I doubt there'd be a market for the photos.

I thought the whole point of moving to NYC was to give the child a normal (by NYC!) childhood. It doesn't seem to be working...

Carte Blanche said...

I hope this is a one-time thing for Cassandra too, her vids show a girl that may easily been eaten alive in that industry. Too much deep seated insecurities about her outer appearance.

Every time I see Diane Kruger now, I think of a cucumber. Anyone else love that veg garden blind over at Lainey's?

crichmond1000 said...

jaariel: I'm with you there. I don't even look in the mirror anymore because that is not me. Stress sucks.

Sherry said...

@jaariel: Yes, I'm not sure if I just don't give an F or if it would make much difference but I sure don't spend as much time on looking purdy like I used to. Once we were gorgeous and never knew it, then we knew it and toock advantage, then we became invisible and now I'm at the point where I may actually repulse men. LOL! Hey at least my husband still thinks I'm sexy and that's all that matters sometimes. We all grow old.

Unknown said...

Why the love for Kruger and Watson? They just should not be as papped as they are; they are always looking very boring. I am not interested!

FlirtyChick74 said...

Yay Cassandra! I'm glad to see her walking the runway. I loved her videos. I too suffered from some terrible acne when I was her age. I looked at the videos as a way for girls to deal with the acne and move on in life instead of dwelling on it.

She seems to really like fashion and makeup. I hope she can do more with it.

Unknown said...

Stone! I always get the Emma's confused.

Sherry said...

Oh and I cannot help but wonder what "charity" Kate Gosselin gave to. Somehow methinks her name is attached to it.

Coriander Shea said...

@CarteBlanche I do too! She is going to have a hard time living that one down lol. :)

@jaariel: I'm a stay-at-home mom, and lots of my tasks require getting my hands/clothes dirty (large garden, paint work, feeding animals, etc) so no, I don't make the effort either, although I do try to keep my weight under control. Now on an evening out, I will dress up and put some makeup on. It's nice to know I still can look nice, for my own self-esteem more than anything else. And my hubby doesn't mind either :)

I do not understand why paps still take pics of Jessica Alba.

anita_mark said...

I find Emma Watson so blah. Pictures of her make me sleepy.

I like Dakota Fanning and I love that dress. I'd wear that every day if I could.

Love Enty's judgy tone for Suri. You continuing to pay for and post pictures of that little girl contribute to her being swarmed by men yelling at her while flashbulbs pop in her face.

I take most blinds with a grain of salt but one of the dumbest had to be Amy Adams copying Jessica Alba. Was anyone ever bored enough to go back through pics and see if that holds any weight?

LadyLagerfeld said...

@Carte- same here! I still can't believe Pacey is such a produce man...

I get praying mantis vibes from Emma Stone.
The eyes?
Also Cassandra looks so gaunt here. I like her better in her home made videos. So real and beautiful.

@Sherry: " Once we were gorgeous and never knew it, then we knew it and took advantage, then we became invisible..."

I think that's the story of most women's lives. I had absolutely no idea of the power an 18 year old girl has when I was 18. All I knew was I that I hated my broken beaky nose and was really self-conscious about it.

When I was 25, I had a nose job. Those were the wonder years for me - 25-34.

At 40, I went to see the surgeon who had done my nose to ask about another procedure. When I walked in, he had this giant photo of me, pre-op, aged 25. Medical quality, so no make-up and excruciating detail.

I just gasped. I was completely gorgeous before I had the nose done, and I had no. idea. at. all. All I could see on my face was that damned nose, so I'd walk around with my hair over my face trying to hide it.

Now I am invisible.

Folks, if you have daughters, teach them self-esteem. I'm not blaming my mom - she had a f/t job as a secretary and raised six kids. She did not have time to worry about her kids' self-esteem.

@jaariel: I was feeling that today. I have bad allergies and look frightening this week. I was at Lowes and I probably could have stolen a cartload of stuff. Men were so repulsed they were averting their eyes or staring right through me. I think it's what you project out there. I wasn't feeling good inside or out today.

I am so average and so comfortable. Even with my emerging turkey neck. I just smile wider and it disappears:)

Del Riser said...

@jaariel, I typically look pretty OMGish around the house, but when leaving the house for anything I make an effort. I have a husband, big dog, big yard and I dress to take care of all those things, not to impress.
I still have a lot of nice clothes in the closet so I enjoy getting pretty even if it's just for going to the grocery store.
It also reminds my husband that I own something other than jeans, cutoffs, his old t-shirts and I do own a tube of lipstick.

But who knows how less pretty girls get famous? Katie Holmes is ok looking and has rather large legs . Don't beat yourselves up about your looks. Slap on some make-up and stick to a manageable exercise routine.

I think a big genuine smile is more powerful than looking like mutton dressed as lamb any day. I see many women my age dressing like 20 year olds, underweight, fake tans, over bleached hair, fake nails. It's kinda gross and I don't envy how they look or the fact that they feel they need to look like that to get noticed.
When I lost 30lbs I stopped being invisible, I gained some back because I like the lack of attention. I like that I can cut my hair really short which saves me a lot of time and money on hair products. It's a very freeing feeling that I can just be myself and not worry about superficial people bothering me.
I'd recommend for anyone feeling bad about being invisible to join a gym and workout, even if you don't need to loose a few pounds you will start feeling better about yourself in no time. I have no clue how it works but the physical activity has a positive impact on your mental health too so it's a win/win.

yodelay said...

Jessica, "you in danger girl!"

I venture to say Kate G looks different because her smile seems genuine. Could she actually be happy? I dunno, she struck me as the kind of woman that even a good time would be a pain in her ass, but maybe some time away from the spotlight has done her good. Or maybe she's just getting it good ;)

Cassiopeia said...

I cosign with Del. if I am not leaving the house I won't bother putting on make-up. But I do whenever I leave the house, nor will I leave the house in anything that looks like it could be pajamas.
I watch weight, but still have 15 lbs of baby weight to lose. These days I let my roots grow out too long, don't have time to shave my legs, etc. Time better spent w/ my son. :)

@Sherry, well said. :)

hothotheat said...

@jaariel Kate G did more than lose weight, change her hair, & get a tan. She was had "work" done. That belly got a mommy tuck, she's had a litany of other procedures as well. She does look different, dare I say better, than the mid-western soccer mom look she used to sport but she remains ugly on the inside.

@yodelay If her smile is in fact "genuine" its because she's being fussed over, will be in the spotlight (where she likes to be) and her kids are with someone else.

I loathe the woman and I haven't even watched one episode of that show.

Agent**It said...

TheBlackCat and others.Cosign with mothers who are vying for attention with their daughters. Just look at Mother Lohan and Mother -- ian. Something wrong with women who do that. Wow! I love reading all your comments. Black Cat, ITA about the weight loss/attention thing. I've been down go a weight that the "experts" say I should be at, and I don't appreciate all the extra attention I get from men. It's hard enough these days to keep a marriage together, I don't need extra men giving me the come-on.

Not that I would bite, but it's just another thing I don't need.

Agent-- you gave me a wake up call by mentioning all the "beautiful" moms that totally pamper their outsides. Dina Lohan! That's all I need to remember when I get down on myself.

Lol @louella stealing from Lowes! Been there!

@Sherry: very good points. Youth is truly wasted on the young!

Thanks all for your comments. Lurve you CDANers!

I don't get all the hate for Kate. I have two kids and know from experience how difficult it is financially to be able to provide for them without having to live in a cardboard box. I can only imagine having 8 in today's society. I think her and Jon made the decision to do the reality show in order to make ends meet and because she is somewhat stern and tough on the show people saw her as a huge bitch, when really she HAS to be that way in order to keep her house full of children in tact. Her husband left her and their children to pursue whatever he thought he could get with his 15 minutes of fame and shes had to endure

Jamie 2, I generally think people who have some "flaw" of some kind are prettier than the ones that don't. Hollywood girls all look the same, because all their uniqueness has been erased by cosmetic surgery. I bet you still look better than you feel you do, but I like your story of seeing your former self by surprise and realizing you were pretty all along.

Me, I take an hour getting ready (shower and everything) every day no matter what I am doing. Same amount of make-up (very little) and same hair (curled and then pulled back) every day. (It's boring.) And pretty much, I look like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, and I always have, no matter what I do, so I don't bother.

One day Katie is going to twist just right and strain her back, then she will regret picking up that kid all the time. Just buy the kid a big hat or sunglasses or something! Or find a side door! You are going to hurt yourself!

My daughter is 6 and I carried her this morning. It's not a big deal unless your kid weighs a lot. Luckily my kids is 48 inches and 39 pounds.

Emma's shoes are cute. Jessica's nail polish is gorgeous. Kate looks orange!

MissCrop609 said...

@Paper trail, I agree. She probably has back problems already.

I thought it was in the divorce decree that Katie must carry Suri until she is 30 years old.

@Rhino. Kate and Suri could be the new Edie and Little Edie. Could you imagine?!? I think we should support the idea of Suri living with Kate until she's 60.

i actually did a little experiment with hair and makeup. on the days i got "done up", i got better service at stores, the male cashiers chatted me up, cars stopped for me to cross the street and the parking lot (men and women). the difference was so striking o thought it must be my attitude. but, then one day i was going to lunch with a friend and got all done up. then she canceled, so i stayed home and cleaned house. when i walked up to the school to get my kids i had forgotten about the makeup/hair thing. men were stopping for me at cross corners and smiling. i thought "what are YOU looking at??" does it really matter, no. who cares if a stranger thinks you look good. but, if i need something when i go to home depot i remember what gets the best response.

on the suri situation. the media in this kids face has bothered me for a long time, she seems afraid. that's what bothers me now. she's 6 and she's afraid a lot of the time. look how she hides her face. this isn't for ease of movement or suri being lazy or he mom babying her. its sad that a 6 year old has been made to feel this way. no matter what her parents situation, she shouldn't have to feel like this.

I think all your comments on beauty are very interesting, though I'm not sure I relate.

I am 30 now, at 21 I weighed 225lbs. I way 150 (140 on a good day). In any case, it's been at very rare times in my life throughout that whole period where I was called pretty, or felt beautiful. But I HAVE always been "fuckable"

Like even at 12 years old early puberty; 19 suicidally depressed in sweatpants; or 24 in shorty shorts and heels at the club-I have always gotten a lot of sexual eye-fucking attention from men. Especially old, old, dirty men. This is all to say that how I define my beauty has been distorted from the get go.

I think I now try to feel pretty, but limit the attention/looks I get-that is me on a "beuatiful" day.

However, I'm going through a very asexual time in my life-not a lot of the right kind of attention-it has really made me lose my sense of where I am on the scale of beauty.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what happens when you feel invisible to people you think are beautiful?

sorry, it's 6am, and my apartment is flooded-I really need to think about something else for awhile. ;p

WUWT? said...

If anyone wants non-sexual attention for how "beautiful" you look, on any day at all, get moderately dressed up and visit people at a nursing home. They go CRAZY about how nice someone looks when they are dressed up at all.

A flower in the hair is ridiculous but it seems to raise the attention level exponentially.

And it makes the old people happy too, so it's not all about you. But it's a little about you, because after you see you've brightened their day it brightens yours.

Robert said...

When Enty says "A very bright looking Jessica Alba," I assume he means her clothing.

Liadee said...

WUWT? - idk how non-sexual it really is at a nursing home - i work in one and get groped or my ass slapped on about a daily basis - but you sure as hell will get ton of attention paid to you. hell i walk around in a polo and yoga pants looking a complete wreck and at least one of my ladies will tell me im pretty.

Oh who cares s if katie wants to carry suri all over hell and gone? The thing that drives me absolutely nuts is that hair always hanging in her face!!!!!! Have mother and child not heard of braids? Hairbands? Pigtails? Anything!!! Pet peeve of mine!

anita_mark said...

@WUWT, my dad is in a long-term care home. When I've visited after work (meaning I'm dressed up) the old ladies go nuts. They all come up to me and pet me, essentially. I'm shiny and to them, young.

Attention from straight men is somewha meaningless as they will look at anything with breasts. I dress for other women and gay men. Their approval means something to me.

Anita, I remember that about your father from another OT discussion. I think I remember he lives at the home of the Legendary TV Bandit. Did he get over that particular fixation? Or am I confusing my memory?

And Lia, when I said "non-sexual attention" at nursing homes, I guess I was focusing on the women, as Anita said. I never had a man be inappopriate directly to me at a nursing home (I had to tell a nurse that one was "messing around" in the hall with no pants on, but that was general and not specific), but it is usually the women who fuss over a dressed up visitor, so I was thinking about their attention.
