They're usually such leches, this one would have to be a pretty squeaky clean family guy. And I'm with the commenter who said perhaps she reminded him of a younger version of the significant other. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. How do Hollywood marriages stand a chance in that kind of environment?
Isn't Ron Howard filming Rush with Olivia Wilde at the moment? He's very squeaky clean.
Ron Howard and Spielberg are not writers (Spielberg got no writing credits between Close Encounters and A.I.).
Directors such as Christopher Nolan, JJ Abrams, Steven Soderbergh, Joss Whedon, guys who are both mainstream and authors, could fit the description, especially with the mid-life crisis aspect.
I hate too, but I think Munch may have it. I'd lose respect for him if true.

Olivia Wilde's scenes in Rush were shoot waaaaay back in this spring. She was in England for one single week for that. Plus she was already (and still is) madly in love with Jason Sudeikis. Plus she is an Irish citizen only becaue her family has strong ties but she born in NYC). And I think she is not a B-/C+ list either.

I can't imagine Chris Nolan having sex with some young beauty within an hour of meeting her. I can imagine him having an affair, but quick sex like that? Not buying it. I think this might be James Cameron, he has a lot of movie series in the pipes (the new Avatar movies, specifically). He's a notorious cheat, although he's allegedly been faithful to his latest wife.
