Winter. It's when I was born and I just love the early dark nights and being cuddled up on the sofa, infront of a fire with a blanket. Amazin'.

Fall. I love the leaves, crisp temperatures, hot apple cider & the wonderful wood burning smell in the air. Winter is a close second.

I have two: summer & fall. Our summers are tropical, and it's WONDERFUL. Although, I think I'm the only one who loves humidity you need a chain saw to move through. Fall is just so pretty here.

Off-season. I don't like crowds.

I love every season except winter. Having deep snow on the ground six months out of the year and going trick-or-treating with a snowsuit under your costume will do that to you. I guess if I have to pick a favorite, it would be autumn. I love the colors and smells, and how the temperature is perfectly comfortable.

I love the holiday season from Halloween to New Year's, but I prefer the summer weather. However, I am lucky that I live where I do, so I don't have to live in the cold wintery weather anymore. We just get more rain.

christmas! which for me starts 11/1 and goes through 1/2.

You and me both, @mistang.

Spring! I get to see all 4 seasons as they should be but my favorite is to see the trees start growing their leaves and flowers starting to blossom. I do NOT like fall, too many leaves to pick up.

fall, used to love summer but with age, I can't tolerate the heat the way I used to.

Autumn, I used to like the Spring for all the beautiful bulbs flowering after a long winter but the. Black Fly season is in Spring which truly sucks around here for 3-4 weeks. Autumn is relatively safe.

Spring is absolutely beautiful here...and lasts from the end of Jan to the end of April

I have a love hate relationship with all the seasons but I think fall is my main squeeze.

I don't like the snow but the holidays in New York are really wonderful and I love spring.

Summer.
It's when everything I'm allergic to has given up it's pollen and I'm no longer in sinus hell.
And the pool's open.

Summer. Which we get permanently here in So-Cal :-)

I live in southern California: to me, seasons are astronomical events we're taught to believe in without any supporting evidence. But the idea of autumn is nice. I should like to see it some day.

Autumn, all the reasons everyone else mentioned! The harvest, our main holidays, and how beautiful nature is, all the animals getting busy for winter and the babies born in the summer growing up, like the squirrels & raccoons. Also the migration and my family of Juncos returns for the winter to my garden. Spring is the close second for everything waking up!

Summer! Love the warm temps & the fact that it stays light all evening. Plus, no allergies!

Fall is a close second, it's absolutely gorgeous in Kentucky.

If I even mention I'm looking for a new job, please remind me I want to go to So Cal where it is always summer.

Summer - fav season!

Fall. Although the past few years we haven't had fall weather, it goes from 80 in October to below freezing in November. It's been driving me crazy.

Spring is my second favorite, will probably be my favorite soon if fall can't get its head out of its ass.

StewMcG said...

Late spring and early fall are my favorites. Not too hot, usually sunny, and either flowers blooming all over the place or leaves just starting to change color. Love 'em both!

I live in the desert, Spring is wonderful, the flowers blooming, all the birds that pass through,my veggies growing in the garden, and the temperature is divine.

I grew up in the Midwest and loved Spring and Fall for the reasons stated above. Living in SoCal our seasons are rain on and off for a week, periodic Santa Ana winds and that's about it. I used to love seeing the crocuses pop up, the forsythia bloom and all that good stuff. Now I'm happy to live in a climate where the mean temperature is 75 degrees and the closest I get to snow on a regular basis is seeing it off in the distance on the top of the local mountains.

Fall. Always Fall. There are usually four seasons in Chicago--Hot, Fucking Hot, Cold, and Fucking Cold--but when we get Fall, it's THE BEST.

Seachica said...

I used to love fall, but spring in Seattle is magical. Watching nature be reborn on my walk to work everyday, and the lengthening days with sunlight until 9pm is incredible. I felt more in touch with the seasons last spring than I have ever felt anywhere else

Winter. Unfortunately, 40 degrees is considered iceberg weather in South Florida. :(

Fall. In C-mel we get a fantastic Indian Summer, two weeks ago it was 80 degrees two days in a row! And we get plenty of 70ish weather from September-December, plus no snow. We're usually at 55-65 most of the year and FOGGY. Like SF.

Summer. Fresh tomatoes!!!

EmEyeKay said...

Fall: sweaters and boots and scarves!

But like Seachica said, when Spring springs, it's magic here.

I love living in the PacNW for our seasons alone (she says as she's pulling on yet another jacket because it's freezing freakin' cold on the beach!).

We have Summer and not as hot and rainy as Summer. I pick the latter.

They are all good. Of course, where I live, there isn't much difference among all four.

Winter. Actually, fall/winter, I suppose...Labor Day through St. Patrick's Day or so is the BEST time of the year. I have that warm-weather SAD, as a matter of fact...miserable from May until the end of September.

I love fall. It felt magical for me growing up near Montreal. Sadly it doesn't last as long in northern Alberta... :-( Winter comes way too soon and lasts way too long.

Hey folks. I'm going to hijack this post for a bit because I'm feeling pretty bad and not sure what to do.

I'm sure all of you heard about Miley Cyrus' stalker. She just got a restraining order today for 3 years. Well, her stalker is one of my good friend's brother. I was shocked. I know his family. I've met all of them except for Luis. They're a very nice family. Couldn't meet nicer people. At first they were cryptic about the whole thing. The mother mentioned that her son was arrested and my friend mentioned that there was drama in the family. The way she said it I was confused and never pressed her for info because I was so busy at the time. I asked her what was going on later but she was still cryptic about the whole thing. I didn't even bother to follow up until recently. She has a new boyfriend and we haven't been able to catch up. That's when I got the whole scoop. I never follow Miley so I didn't even know what was going on with her.

Eventually the mother posted some more details on Facebook. People, they are really hurting right now. Apparently Nancy Grace was her usual self and really skewered this guy. TMZ is no better. The mother has tried to respond to what has happened but I don't think anyone is hearing her. The narrative has been set.

Her family has suffered with mental illness. The mother had agoraphobia and overcame it. She wrote a book about her experience and went on a press tour. She's writing a follow up book right now. Her mother suffered from mental illness as well and did not overcome it and died in an institution.

My friend is a very private person. Her mother is more vocal about what is going on. I understand that completely. Sometimes parents think they're kids are stronger than they are and can handle a lot of things. Everyone needs to process these things at their own pace.

So, back to my friend. I'm not sure what to do or say to her. I'm friends with her mother too. Sometimes I want to repost the things she's written but I don't. I know she wouldn't mind but my friend would.

Celebrities seem to lead lives that are so detached from reality. We see the parties, the clothes, the houses, the impossibly beautiful men and women (who sometimes are even more beautiful/handsome in real life - the ones I've seen anyway). They're living the American Dream. But we forget about the downside and how real it is. And it is so real. And frightening. My guard would be sky high if I were in Miley's shoes (but I don't have the luxury or comfort of protection either so it has to be). I saw that Britney Spears movie and felt so sorry for her.

So my point is that I feel terrible for the family despite what has happened. Everyone (on both sides) gets hurt in situations like these. Even the people you can't see.

I enjoy gossip, that's why I'm here. But when you get a second row seat to celebrity gossip it really gives you a new perspective.

FlirtyChick: I'm not a psychiatrist (and don't pretend to play one on the internet), but the best thing I'm thinking you can do for your friend and her family is just to be there for them--I'm guessing that many other people either will bail or already have bailed on them, right when they're most in need of good, supportive friends, so your friendship will be even more valuable now than it was before the shit hit the fan. Spend time with them, do things with them, let them know you're there for them and you care about them...that's my advice, such as it is. *hugs to you and them*

Thank you Robin. :-)

As you know, Enty, we have 4 seasons in LA--Fire, Floods, Riots and Earthquakes.

Seriously, in LA, fall's probably the best. It's still warm, but not so warm you think you're going to die. After the Santa Ana's die down, the sky is crystal blue and you're reminded why you moved here.
