Blind Item #3

This C+/B- movie actor is making producers crazy. He is supposed to be the strong heterosexual love interest of this very very important movie and he won't stop holding hands and kissing his co-star boyfriend. Producers are terrified that the actor will be caught and it will damage their box office.

Oh, I do hope it's Josh Hutcherson and Sam Claflin on the set of the Hunger Games.

Since we all know by now that the werewolf doesn't get the girl, so why are the producers so terrified?

Poor Taylor Lautner, as if working with the mannequins wasn't hard enough.

VIPblonde said...

I second the Josh Hutcherson guess. He's totally mis-cast

@codymagnolia, you read my mind! I just read an interview with him where he was raving, and raving about how great sam is!

Jennifer did say Sam and Josh that they have a bromance going on and Josh admitted it when he was interviewed on MTV last week... maybe there's more to this bromance.

Jesus, maybe if producers weren't so fucking worried about their bottom line actors/actresses wouldn't have to stay in the closet.

I agree with the Josh Hutcherson and Sam Claflin guess. I could not understand why Josh was cast as the romantic lead for Hunger Games. He fits the nervous young boy profile, but not the manly man protective, surviving testosterone laden love interest. He's more the, " Oh no, my Bieber bangs are mussed!!!! Quick get the pomade! Not the purple one, the LAVENDER one!! oh noooo! Now where ARE my skinny jeans with the black acid wash and the brass rivets? "

Basil said...

Josh fits, but wouldn't it be hilarious if the BF was Liam.

ITA @Vicki. Very well said.

While it doesn't matter if the person is gay in real life regarding their ability to play a romantic lead (Matt Bomer), in this particular case it doesn't work. Gay or not, I didn't get him in the movie. I never read the books so was confused by what appeared to be a love triangle. I wouldn't be tempted by JH with Liam H waiting at home.

JagerLilly808 said...

How on god's green earth could the Hunger Games be considered a "very very important movie"?? Really?

Penelope said...

Vickie, exactly what are producers supposed to worry about? It's a business, duh.

KellyLynn said...

It's gotta be those two. It wouldn't be such an issue for the box office in a movie geared towards adults, The Hunger Games received such a lashing from their tweener fans for "lesser" offenses, such as Katniss's healthy physique and Rue's ethnicity. I don't think the producers have anything to worry about -- even when the teens griped about these details, they still came to see the movie.

I have no idea if they are filming it yet,but if they are making a movie of 50 Shades of Grey, and the actor wasn't a 'typical strong heterosexual male' that might cause studio bosses some concern.
Just for the record, some of the biggest, strongest, manliest men I know are gay. I couldn't care less what other people do in their own bedroom. It is called 'acting' after all.

jax said...

if you want your answer Vicki just take a look at Karma's stereotype laden post. Some people will always think that way and that's what Hollywood is worried about.

"Just for the record, some of the biggest, strongest, manliest men I know are gay. I couldn't care less what other people do in their own bedroom. It is called 'acting' after all."

Exactly. thank you.

That's a shame.
I agree on Josh being completely miscast for that role, gay or straight.

+2, Vicki. Hi, Dixie!

I enter Rock Hudson as Exhibit A as how a very masculine man who makes women swoon can be gay.

And I totally agree that JH was miscast for this role, and it has nothing to do with his being gay. Or not.

I wouldn't mind Zach Quinto being cast as that Christian Grey guy. I haven't read the book, and though some might not find Quinto all that attractive like I do, he has a certain magnetism that appeals to gay and straight.

Miranda said...

People think Peeta was miscast? Really? I thought Josh Hutcherson did a great job! Just innocent and awkward enough to be believable. Honestly, I think it was one of the better pieces of casting in the films.

MaeMae said...

If we're going by the book "Peeta" than Josh Hutcherson did a great job. This isn't Twilight...Peeta isn't some hero in the book and Katniss isn't a female lead who needs saving. I read all three books and yeah the movies were a bit off (as they usually are) but as far as characters weren't I think JH was a wise choice.

What about Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto shooting Star Trek?

Caraface said...

@Nessa - if that's true, can I just say.....sploosh.

sylmarillion said...

I second the guess for Chris Pine. Kirk is supposed to be a womanizer, right?

Frufra said...

Slightly OT - doing a little "research" over at DM. What's the dealio with Josh H.'s neck? Does he have a big scab running down the right side, a weird hair tail thingy, or what? Something's definitely going on there, right? Anybody else notice this?

Cassiopeia said...

Really Karma?
Cuz that's how all gay men behave.
smh

Dinah said...

I'm going with Eddie Redmayne - romantic lead in Les Miserables!

BobNYC said...

SHEESH People! Josh Hutcherson is straight. And so is Chris Pine - he's a genuine womanizer. And Quinto is in a fairly long-time committed relationship.

Presto said...

I thought Josh Hutcherson was trying to get with Jennifer Lawrence in an old Hunger Games blind here?

josh is just not PEETA in my version i just dont see it at all..i can see it being very important, so much expectation, no more twilight books, harry books it has teen field to itself an has to set up final book..

artemis said...

I think the The Hunger Games is a "very, very important movie" because of its potential to make shitloads of dough.

I enjoyed the books very much and the first movie was okay, but I agree that JH wasn't my pick for Peeta. He's cute though!

Magnus 21 Gunz said...

I agree Vicki! They're already filthy rich. I mean really...it says alot about what they think of us as their base. Smdh

Claudetty said...

I want to add my voice to the chorus of JH fans. I had heard a rumor that Hunter Parrish, (gorgeous, a great actor, Peeta's coloring) from Weeds, was being considered for Peeta, and I was disappointed when Josh was cast. But his performance, for me, was perfect! He totally sold Peeta's morality, his dedication and love for Katniss, and his willingness to put her survival first. i thiught he was perfectly cast, and could care less whether he is straight or gay.

Steampunk Jazz said...

Josh Hutcherson was as bland as hot water in Hunger Games. I thought his character in the book was, also. Does that mean he's a Good actor? As to the sexuality question, Rock Hudson is STILL on my "No Repercussion" sex card. ( I have just as much a chance of getting Him as I do the other star on my list, I say, Make a Statement!)

it took forever said...

Are you guys kidding me, MOST people make movies for one thing PROFIT! its their JOB it pays all who work on set bills, it sends their kids to school , so yes if i pumped millions in a movie, i damn well better make a profit. When you all turn big producers then you can make your own movies and cast who you want, make sure to use everything in that bank account, but hope you give all that dough made from the movie to charity,!
Damn its like my boss telling me money he wants me to learn that money isnt everything so he gonna cut my salary!

southerner09 said...

If you know someone is gay in real life, how can you accept them playing a straight guy? I think that if you are gay that is fine, just don't be surprised when your fan base dwindles. Women don't have fantasies about gay men. Why do you think the producers want to keep them hidden.?

BlindItemMe said...

@southener i still have fantasies of Matt (bone-me boner) Bomer. :)

and yes that is his full name in the Blind household. :)

Mr blind even puts on episodes of white collar when he puts me to bed (im basically a nanna who goes to bed at 9:30 - sad i know!)

I dont do hunger games or vampire trilogies, or anything with sequels for that matter. BUT colin farrell came to mind, all those pictures of him on that horse, being referred to as the strong romantic lead on that movie. Lots of pap shots seem to be coming out of that set...

mooshki said...

Southerner, please go back to the Fox News website. We don't want your kind around here.

Zeeky_Boogy_Doog said...

Southerner - You asked how people can accept a gay man playing a straight man. Very well, thank you!

Neil Patrick Harris plays a womanizer in "How I Met Your Mother" and in the "Harold and Kumar" films, and I believe him completely. His s/o David Burtka even has a small role on HIMYM as a guy in love with the Lily character; I believe that, too. Or like Jason Segal on that show -- he dates Michelle Williams in real life, not Alyson Hannigan, but that doesn't stop me from accepting that.

For me, there's not much difference... whether the actor is gay or straight, it doesn't take away from their characters.

Matt Bomer can park his boots under my bed anytime. The joy of fantasy !!

April said...

Just as a Hunger Games book series fan, I never thought Peeta was the supposed "manly" type. That's more Gale. He was supposed to be more sensitive contrasted to her as the action heroine.

Anyway, gay or straight, I think Hutcherson fits the role physically. He's not as good an actor as Lawrence, but maybe he'll rise to the material when they do the last book on film.

Celimene said...

It's not like Peeta is supposed to be the eye candy. That's Finnick's role - pretty on the outside but haunted underneath. Anyway, Peeta's not the most butch guy on the planet, so does it matter if this could be JH?

Sexual orientation shouldn't matter.I'd love Zach Quinto in more roles on the big screen. Man's got ridiculous amounts of talent and charisma. His boyfriend's pretty spectacular too. Would I have any issues buying either of them playing any role, gay or straight? Nope.

Gabby said...

As much as I agree with all of you, you have to admit that not everyone is as accepting as we are. If that were the case, gay marriage wouldn't be such a huge issue!

Anonymous said...

I was all like, "I know, I know! It's Stephen Amell and Colin Donnell from that Arrow TV show!" But then I saw the part about the "very, very important movie" and I was like, "Oh. I guess it's not them."

Anonymous said...

And southerner09, you're an idiot. That is all.

Frances Gumm said...

I can believe it's Josh Hutcherson, but I don't believe his kissing co-star is Sam Claflin. If it was Sam, producers would be worried about Finnick being gay as well as he's supposed to be a huge sex symbol in the movie. Plus Claflin is engaged. The boyfriend might be one of the other tributes and not one of the main stars.

mrjack said...

If not Sam Claflin, the other guy with Josh Hutcherson could be Alan Ritchson who plays Gloss.

Peeta wasn't very manly in the books either, he was kind of a softie, but he was very protective of Katniss. Mis-cast.
