Have you already broken your New Year's resolution?
No, 'cuz I didn't make any.
mine was to quit swearing so much, and yeah I broke that. But I also wanted to cut back on smoking, which I've done very very well. But only because my stash ran out.
Yes, but resolving to get back on track. Try, try again and all that jazz.
Nope! Mine was to drink more and have more fun, which I've been doing, but I think it's giving me a cold. Lots of ginger tea and a nice disco nap before I can go out tonight!
No. Ive been keeping track of my spending. Today I will attempt to spend NO money.
Did not make one.
I'm good so far, I guess. My resolution was to start a diet and lose 10-15lbs. Basically, I'm eating healthy meals without ANY snacking and I've been good for almost 4 whole days!
It's hard, though, because I'm counting calories and every time I start doing that, I want to "win" by having as few as possible and then the eating disorder creeps in. My fiance is on top of things to make sure I don't go overboard, though.
One yes. One no.
I didn't really make one, but I did see something interesting on FB yesterday. Save $1 week 1, $2 week 2, etc. and you have more than 1k in a year if you do it for all 52 weeks. I told my friend, even if you use it to buy holiday gifts, you've been saving all year to do it and it doesn't have to come out of another budget.
So I'm doing to do this. And after this week, I think I'm going to give up drinking during the week and at work functions/events/in general…
Did not make any this year so no let downs for me!
@amh.producer, I like that idea! I might do that, too.
Karen, I wish I could add the photo. I mean, there are times that $49/week could be a lot as you build up in the month, but even if you cap it to $20/week and stop after Thanksgiving, you've got a grand to spend on Christmas or a vacation or heck, put into a savings account for interest!
I'm sure I EASILY blow $20 in a week. heck that could be in a day (hence not drinking during the week)
No. I picked the three things I felt I failed at last year and am making them my priority this year, so as long as I'm trying I'm not failing.
I know that "game" all too well.
To get all the frickin cords off the floor, to finish the laundry room ; to get caught up on My Little Pony episodes (one of my kids is a Brony) ; to start another line in our online business (just after Christmas is a very slow time for us) ; to keep some small diversions like CDAN for myself
My resolutions: to be the best mother I possibly can (due in March with my first child) and to be a better wife. though the second resolution is might be tricky to measure. I'm trying be open to my husband's ideas and be more supportive to him. I don't think I've rolled my eyes yet, so far so good.
I don't really make resolutions but I told myself that starting this year I'm going to stop being such a pushover and everyone's "can do" person. I'm going to say the word no and not feel guilty later that I didn't keep someone's kids all weekend so they can go out and slut it up, I'm not going to lend money because they spent it all on dumbshit, I'm not going to go pay someone's bills cause they spent their weekday off sleeping and on Facebook, and lastly I am NOT going to clean up behind my sister in law and her 2 kids wake up her daughter and get her ready for school and make mine late cause her mom won't get up and find her stuff, nor will I continue to watch the 2 year old so she can go get on the phone with her meth addicted physcotic ex who she puts before anyone else, and I'm not going to continue to buy food, cook, clean the kitchen and pay all the utilities for them 3 cause she bought a new car and uses her child support for it and gas.
Sorry I have major rage right now. I'm gonna stop ranting.
@amh.producer: I saw that yesterday, too, thought it was cool.
@jsierra: thanks for the compilation of reader photos! I just looked through mine! I didn't send one to Enty this time but I sent one to J and she included it.
Can't break a resolution you didn't make!
I do hope you can follow through. All that sounds stressful! When I was younger, my granny bought herself a "No" ring and she said it gave her the strength to tell those who took advantage of her the ability to say no without the guilt.
Nope because mine are about the progress and achieving and meeting the goal at the end of the year. That way if I have a slip up I won't just give up and ruin all the work I did before that.
Autocorrect on iphone still off and lovin' it!
Geez, Bobbi, you sure have your hands full there! Some people are born users and if you let them they will use you until you put your foot down!!! Stop being so nice!! I always say It doesn't pay to be nice.
@bobbi, good luck! Enabling someone like that is just going to make things worse for both of you.
Great job JSierra!
Go for it, Bobbi!
No. Resolved to learn spanish. Im not NOT learning it, so I'm good, lol
I don't think of them as resolutions, I've just been writing down things I want to do (WILL DO) in 2013. One of the first things is "Complete Turbo Fire". I'm only on week 1 of the prep rotation so ask me again in 9 weeks, and then again 9 weeks after that!
I will be great to go over my lists at the end of the year though, and see how many things I actually did
I stopped making them years ago.
Good luck to everyone else & bobbi, honey learn to say no!
Ha, just popped over to pinterest and the first thing I saw was the money chart @amh.producer mentioned! That's awesome-by week 52, you've saved $1,378.00!!
I didn't bother to make one.
I tried to be more patient with idiot drivers and curb my swearing some. Then I made the commute thru Atlanta traffic on the 2nd and broke both resolutions, in grand fashion.
Nope! I will hula hoop daily for at least 20 min. & 13 seconds. Even though I have to split it up thanks to my crazy schedule, I haven't failed yet. And interestingly enough, as someone who hates morning exercise because it always left me tired before, the 5-10 minutes of hooping in the morning has given me way more energy throughout the day and keeps my mood elevated as well. Whoop!
Hope this isn't too personal, but are they *in* your house?
Nope. Still haven't smoked. Yay!
yay kara! I wish I had that willpower. Maybe with the money I save ($1, week 1, etc.) I will get an ecig!
I'd cut down on swearing but then people might think that I've been abducted!
and I like the hula hoop for exercise idea. I could do that and watch TV at the same time!
All of them.
i got so sunburnt yesterday that i'm making one now
NO MORE BURNING!!!
So hot in australia right now
Hey Bobbi, more power to you, mate.
Right on, zeldafitzgerald!
I saw a message in a fortune cookie on my birthday (the 31st) that said "DON'T PUT LIMITS ON YOURSELF". That seemed like a good resolution so I went with that. The first day I drank a 6 pack of Bass Ale. The second day I ate a whole box of chocolate covered cherries. The third day I watched crappy movies all day and ate popcorn. The fourth day I cooked a whole pound of bacon. So far I think I'm doing great….however there is a chance I misinturpreted the inspirational message.
Yeah, I promised myself I would journal daily and do my creative writing daily. Hasn't happened yet.
Good on you Bobbie! I'm also trying to break some similar habits. I learned the hard way taking care of oneself is paramount. My MIL is ill and she lives with us. Well I wore myself down so much taking care of her and not me that I ended up with bronchitis, pneumonia, severe sinusitis and a viral infection. On the mend but I should never let it go on the first place
@ Tuxedo Cat- No. A few months ago we moved in with my husbands grandparents to help his grandmother out. His grandfather is over 500 lb and bedridden. She couldn't move him around and pick him up when he falls. She was also struggling with money due to his mounting medical bills. So, we agreed to move in while house hunting so we could help her.My husband does the heavy lifting and I take care of yard work, cleaning, and cooking. Although his grandma and I take turns one cooks and the other cleans up. But I try to do it all cause she is so exhausted having to do all the things for his grandfather. She does it all herself, no nurses. Anyways I digressed sorry. The whole situation with my sis in law would take forever but basically instead of moving in with her mother a few hours away where there is plenty of room, she moved in here so she could be closer to her drug addicted abusive ex who kicked her out. She doesn't contribute anything, not even helping to cook or clean. She doesn't even pick up after herself. She comes and goes but is always home at dinner time and then hides in her room after she eats so she doesn't help wash up. I could go on but I'm going to spare everyone. I have probably over shared way too much but I don't really talk about this stuff at home. Sorry.
And thank you to all for the encouragement. You don't know how bad I've needed it
Thanks again JSierra! Enty never published mine, but J did, so it feels nice to be a part of the collective group of readers!
Bobbi, good luck and stick up for yourself hon!
@BigMama nah, that sounds about right- would be my take too.
If you can try to look at is as a temporary situation, I think it will be more bearable. There's so much going on: your husband's grandfather who's not only very ill but who requires very specialized help ; his wife who is worn out ; SIL who is an addict and neglecting her kids ; her kids who are very needy ; you, your husband and your own kids.
The grandparents must be so very grateful. It must be hard to even find time to look for a house.
These things have a way of resolving themselves I guess, but I hope you and your husband can find a way to help without wearing yourselves out.
Vegetarian. So far so good. Its easier than I thought!
I too didn't specifically make any.
