Blind Items Revealed

October 3, 2011

This actress is A++ list in China. She is actually more popular than the actresses from China who have made it big internationally. This actress wants nothing more than to finally make a movie outside of China, but her manager/controllers do not want to see her go fearing they would lose their gravy train. So, they blackmail her into staying. Several years ago they forced her to perform in a sex video with them and taped the entire thing. They promise to release it if she ever tries to leave and go out on her own.

Her wikipedia page says she's going to be in Iron Man 3.

Interesting that acting honchos even in China can be as depraved as those in Hollywood. Must come with the territory.

Pip said...

@nothanks, I have to imagine it's more about honor. I'm sure all of her family is in China as well. God knows if they have threatened them. The whole situation sucks.

Good @ rejected. Hopefully that will be her American breakout role so she can tell her handlers to stuff it.

OMG poor girl! I honestly don't remember reading this BI and am blown away that enty knows Chinese more than the English language!

I don't get the whole 'blackmail for power' thing.

Then again, I don't get the people who are 'blackmailed for power' crying victim.

This is just like what we bitch about with CO$. It's her audit.

I wondered what had happened to Bai Ling. What a horrible thing to do to another person. Maybe the fact that this is public knowledge will help to defuse the situation. That poor girl.

Tragic. And don't think for a second that these giys don't also have government cronies who would also prevent her from leaving the country.

Yes, like Puggle said, her parents and family would be shamed. It's all about honor.

I used a web translator to translate the Chinese text and here it is, in all its glory!:

This actress in Chinese A + + detailed list. She in fact is compares it greatly international actress to come from China is more popular. This actress are many, finally causes outside China movie, but her manager/controller does not want to notice that she worried they will lose their meat broth trains. Therefore, they extort her to live. A few years ago, they forced her to carry out and their entire matter of sexual affection video recording and sound recording. They pledged that releases it, if she tries to leave, oneself exit.

Well, it was free.

Pink_Palace said...

Had anyone guessed this actress? I have never heard about her til now, but she is simply gorgeous!!!

Agent**It said...

"just a kpop junkie" guessed her correctly. BTW, Enty follows Bai Ling on Twitter... There was a second blind along with this one from Korea, wish Enty would reveal that one as well.

Pip said...

She is a beautiful woman. I would kill for her hair.

Just re-read. They forced her?
I'm not sure what the laws are in China but I triple dog dare them to release that tape.

So mean! I hate manupulatiors.

Pink_Palace said...

Thanks Agent **it! I remember the original blind and knew the main guesses, but don't remember reading this name. Of course I quickly read the reveal and found it odd that Bai Ling was the reveal, after all her tacky, barely clothed outfits...Then I realized why - neverheard of her til now. I thought it was someone w/@ least name recognition - though she does remind me of one other actress whose name escapes me!!

Haha, Mango, the translation of a translation. It's like telephone!

@ABlake, honor is a HUGE deal for Chinese families. China has one of the highest suicide rates in the world and the only country where women have a higher suicide rate than men.

This is an interesting article that mentions honor and the Asian suicide phenomenon.

prolixe said...

Particularly this part:

The rural female population, which has endured physical, verbal abuse since the beginning of time, has begun to take their own lives at an alarming rate. The violence towards women in this society is a brutal reflection of long-standing family hierarchies, gender oppression and a refusal to deviate from old traditional values even in the face of an increasingly modern and secular society.

Agent**It said...

From wiki
China
Every year, about a million female fetuses are aborted and tens of thousands of female babies go missing. In China, a historical preference for a male child has been exacerbated by the one-child policy, which was enacted in 1979. The strong cultural preference for sons is heightened by the one-child policy leading and cultural values results in serious consequences.
Studies verify the phenomena using sex ratio at birth (SRB, the ratio of boys born per 100 girls). The average SRB is supposed to lie between 104 ~ 106; however, the research has shown that in India, some areas record up to 120, and China, some provinces go well beyond 130.
It has been argued that by having a one-child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of female fetuses, thereby accelerating a demographic decline.[17] As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would often prefer at least one son. Researchers have expressed concern that prenatal sex selection may reduce the number of families in the next generation.[18] "Later legal concessions (including the permission to have a second child if the first one is a girl) reflect some official recognition of these problems." (Amartya Sen, 1990)
Gender bias can broadly impact a society, and it is estimated that by 2020 there could be more than 35 million young "surplus males" in China and 25 million in India.[19] Policy makers in China are attempting to provide financial incentives to parents who have a female to help balance the sex ratio.[20]

Well, it must be about to be released since she's going to be in Iron Man 3?

lunaire said...

The Chinese written in the blind makes absolutely no sense -- it's probably impossible to translate between Chinese and any other language by software.

Anyway, that's horrible for her and I wonder about her background.

I believe about 10 years (?) ago, a Hong Kong actress refused to do a movie, and she was promptly gang raped and the whole ordeal was on tape. I don't know what exactly happened afterwards, but the tape was released. The actress involved seems to be okay now, but HK entertainment industry is just as messed up and scary, and I imagine it is probably worst in China.

By the way, I don't see her name in Iron Man 3's IMDB page. Also, there's LI Bing Bing in Resident Evil -- I used to confuse the two of them.

lunaire said...

Found a blog post about the HK actress here, if anyone is interested.

China has no regard for women. Free Tibet!

prolixe said...

Oh, lunaire, that is a horrible story!

mooshki said...

LottaColada, Enty doesn't know Chinese, he knows how to use Google Translate, lol.

chachi said...

Poor, poor girl. I guess freedom isn't an option for many women in China, so they might as well be "owned". So sad. I wish tourists would stop visiting China until they upgrade their human rights.

Henriette said...

This reminds me of a story out of China about all the actresses sleeping with the government to get jobs.

lunaire said...

I agree, but the unfortunate thing is, the large majority of Chinese are dirt poor and ignorant. Those who are in power are very corrupt and super wealthy -- they couldn't care less if no one visits China since they all send their wives & kids oversees--plenty of them in California. Anyway, communist China makes my blood boil, and I'd eat my shoe if their human rights improve in my lifetime.

@puggle, good point.

I'd like to hang all of those men in tianeman (?)square by their tender bits as an example to anyone who would ever be so foolish as to consider blackmailing someone that way. By the way, I heard a story on NPR that there is a huge spy tech gadget business in China because businessmen, and government officials are so frequently taking bribes that they want to be in on the action and have dirt on their counterparts.

So they raped her? You can't force someone into sex and it be consensual. I hope those scumbags get exposed and hung by their balls.

@Phoenix - It's not just Hollywood or the entertainment industry in general.

The ability to rise through the ranks of any closed system strongly correlates to the personality traits of being a sociopath, or at least an asshole.

Trust me, there's stories in the sports world that are just as out there.

And you don't even want to know what the wall street bankers get up to.

izz said...

Is a known fact that she has a sex tape? If she was being blackmailed this clearly something she doesn't want know. If they forced her into it this is just revealing the victim of a crime, I'd rather you revealed the perpetrators

lunaire, glad you are aware of the CA situation. Disturbing what they are doing, especially giving birth in CA. A ton of prime real estate in CA and FL has been purchased by the wealthy Chinese.

Ellenshn said...

I don't believe this. This blind may be true. But the actress couldn't be Fan Bing Bing. She had left her former company (manager/controller in the blind) for years. She is now her own boss. If the sex tape did exist, we would have already see it years ago. Some very similar thing did happen 4-5 years ago that almost half destroyed the Hong Kong movie industry. But the actress in that tape is not Fan Bing Bing.

Ellenshn said...

Oh my god lunaire you sound like a racist. Why would Chinese make your blood boil? This just ain't right. I seriously doubt if you have ever been to China? Well... I'm in this country now. I absolutely don't worry about my human right. I'm fine. Truly there are some dirty and ugly things in China. But I think corruption happens in every country more or less. Anyway don't say anyone ignorant when you have no idea; especially don't use the word "majority". Who ever give you a stastical figure?

Ellenshn said...

I heard of the story too. The tape was released ten years ago. But It actually happened in 80s or early 90s. This poor actress was rumored to be a gangster's mistress at that time. The gang rape was sort of revenge.

As an expat currently living in China I completely believe this. The things that not only go on here but are deemed acceptable blow my mind on a daily basis. Check out www.shanghaiist.com or a remarkably accurate expat version of China news. I write a blog about life here, fair warning, tons of pictures of my kids www.expattreks.blogspot.com.

Are you saying they raped her?

Lady Godiva said...

ok guys, it's funny how some of you stereotype china based on some wiki article, but yes, there is some truth to it. Basically, not all women are scrutinized and abused in china, i lived there for awhile, and I am chinese. Looking at how influential fan bing bing is, she probably is not abused etc. There are some parts of china that are very liberal. communist country my foot, go to shanghai, it's like a little tokyo. It's so high tech, brands everywhere, clubs everywhere, audis, mercs , bmws everywhere!! porsches etc. rich people with leather bags everywhere. Anyway, this is most probably a typical "celebrity-handlers" situation, and it's not that shes scared of abuse, but more likely she's afraid to embarrass herself and her family. who wants their genitals to be shown to the public anyway
