Jennifer Aniston is NOT a bad actress.
And she's had several movies that have done really well. In 2011 she had big hits in Just Go With It and Horrible Bosses. And here's a question- when something like Wanderlust flops why is it Jennifer's fault? Why does no one ever go "Oh another flop for Paul Rudd!". But when a movie does well its always because of whoever else was in it, right?

Gary Oldman is so damn sexy. mmm mmm. I felt so bad for him during promotion for TDKR--He had to stoop to appearing in bits on the Today Show n such. He's far too interesting for that lot, and for their 57-second bang-bang 'interviews'.
On Today, Oldman NEVER realized during the bits, that any of the Today people had even MADE a joke until everyone else would start laughing, then you would see him catch on and fake-laugh along. He was so above it, he couldn't help it.
I was sending him good thoughts the whole time---'Just think of the paycheck, Gary. Franchise film.'
Cringe-worthy, as Today so often is.

Aniston's movies don't really make money in first-run (i.e., earn 2X-3X over cost), but my sense is that they are pretty solid on the back-end (DVD sales, download viewings, etc.). She has to be an ultimately profitable box-office star in order to keep headlining movies, plus she's still plenty sexy and she's very reliable and smart about pushing her films.

There's nothing wrong with always being Rachel as long as Rachel's still making money.
And the whole thing about Jennifer Aniston losing money is total bullshit. Look at her wiki and the lost of movies. Every single movie she has been in for the last 10 years has made it's money back with the exception of wanderlust. And many of them were smashes with over $100 in profits.. Along Came Polly, Marley and Me, and Just Go With. Plus, if you look at her movies.. All of them were made on the cheap becuase JA doesn't charge that much. Even Wanderlust, which only made $25 million only cost $35 million, so it was only a $10 million loss.. Which isn't too bad when Marley and Me made $200+
As far as Vanessa Hudgens - She'll never be a great actress. But she does have great charisma and screen presence. Not ever woman gets to be Katharine Hepburn. Some have to be Bridget Bardot. But being Bardot's not that bad either.
Not a big fan of Aniston (she always pushing the wrong buttons with me, no idea why) but I agree she is a smart business woman and has no problem getting rich: her movies generally make profit.
I do however think that without B.Pitt and them breaking up in a dramatic way contributed to this: people still mention it and bring it up (like me now haha). Think this gave her a final push into permanent celebrity-hood (not saying she wanted this/caused it etc, lets just say it was a good side effect for her career).
All of the other Friends-people are pretty out of sight right now and she is still around. I don't find her a wonderful actress (sorry fans!) but somehow she is still in the limelight, so guess she knows what she is doing and she is doing it right :)
Oh God I accidentally clicked onto a Jennifer Aniston movie last night and she was exactly the same, as always. Can you imagine writing a script and then learning that she was cast, ensuring it would be known as just the latest in a long line of fucking Jennifer Aniston stinkers?

OK, slamming Aniston as box-office poison is wrong, but so is lauding her as a box-office stalwart. If you look at the grosses for the films in which she's at least the co-equal draw, their overall profitability has been marginal.
I think that Enty's point is that Aniston has been grinding out comedies and rom-coms like a machine, but she just doesn't have the comedic talent to be a real star in those type of films. She's trying so hard to be another Sandy B., and she just doesn't have the talent. She's never going to be a film A-list comedienne.
But as long as her tits and ass hold up, she'll get work.
