'BUCKWILD' Star Shain Gandee Found Dead In Vehicle With Two Others

'BUCKWILD' star Shain Gandee and two other people were found dead in a vehicle in West Virginia today, 31 hours after they were reported missing. The vehicle was reported to 911 dispatchers about 11:30 a.m., about one hour after deputies released a statement that Shain and his uncle David had been missing since early Sunday morning.  He and his uncle were last seen at Larry's Bar in Sissonville about 3 a.m. Sunday, according to a press release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

RIP. He was so young. I've never seen the show but that's awful for his family :(

I only saw one episode and I think he went muddling with his friends. Rip. Does anyone one know what they died from and who was the third person?

I didn't watch it either, but it's sad for someone to die so young. I wonder what the whole story is.

My husband is from WV, not far from Shaine. His cousins are telling me they heard its carbon monoxide poisoning.

msgirl said...

Oh no, they were drunk and just passed out with the car running?

Imani_Malika said...

I heard it was a DUI...which is not surprising given that those kids blatantly drank and drove on camera. I mean i enjoyed the show for it's stupidity but still...

Maybe they pulled over for a nap, left the heater going, and there was a CO leak significant enough to slowly suffocate them? Can that happen in cars?

I actually watched the show. This kid was goofy, but had a heart of gold and always seemed like he was there to help out his friends.

He seemed close to his family, and the few times they showed his parents on the show they seemed like down-home hardworking country folk.

Condolences to his parents, family, and friends.

Long live Gandee Candy!

That's sad... He was young... RIP

disco - I think that's what happened, but I thought it happened in garages, enclosed space.

This show replaced the Jersey Shore so it was a bunch of kids doing dumb stuff getting in trouble drinking.. fighting... Hooking up with one another, but all set in WV. I agree with @cousin Eddie, he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders.

So sad. He seemed like a decent kid on the show. The best we can hope is that this is a wake up call for the others. He was so young. Very sad.

Wow, did they crash, were they murdered, suicide pact.. what? Found dead can mean a lot of things.

this is the redneck version of Jersey Shore right? Kind of another version of Honey boo boo but for MTV? very sad. Sounds like everyone overdosed or something. RIP.

My husband and I love mindless reality tv and this was one of our favorites solely because of Shain, it's been off for at least a month and we still quote him daily. He seemed like a good kid. Sad sad sad.

Oh man, only 21 too. Very sad, RIP

Yeah, so it sounds like carbon monoxide poisoning. That is really sad... So, they got stuck in a mud pit and then all fell asleep? Remind me to put the batteries back into the CO2 alarms in my house. Yikes.

KLM said...

Wait, CO2 is carbon dioxide. Sheesh, I need to go back to high school chemistry.

@Lily
He seemed like a really genuine good person, his family was on the show and you could see the love between them. I get it, it's not some people's cup of tea, but this is a 21 year old kid who really seemed like a good guy. This is really sad...

Jacq said...

No, these are some crazy backwoods kids in VA

Jacq said...

I like this show, they're just a bunch of young 'uns doing crazy stuff in the woods. (Aside from the one girl who got caught with all that heroin) He seemed really sweet & genuine, I'm sure Shane's family is devastated. Poor kid.

Redd said...

Hey Jacq- West Virginia is a whole other State from Virginia, just like they have a North Carolina and a South Carolina, a North Dakota and South Dakota......; it is sad, but it is a common fate when people drink they sometimes make bad decisions. He seemed like a good kid.

Redd said...

also, from the pictures of the vehicle, you can see it had been buried up in mud, far enough that the mud would have covered the exhaust pipe.

plokzy said...

Whaaaaaaat! Loved that show. Sad to hear, he seemed like nice dude . RIP.

Moosefan said...

Sad for his family and friends. Of course MTV is not going to take this off the air.

As usual I'm the last to know everything...rip Shain...you went out like a true redneck doing what you loved, muddin and 4wheelin

I read that the third person in the car is believed to be the kids father. Awful.

Well, they went peacefully if it was carbon monoxide. With the headline, I thought it was murder. Never saw the show, but it is sad he is gone, especially at such a young age. The family must be going through hell, I'm sure.

Jenn said...

It ain't that cold in WV to need a heater, is it? Jeez, that's sad, these guys' poor families. :-(

Laura said...

Long time lurker from WV- the Bronco was found stuck in mud, up to the passenger side door and covering the exhaust pipe. The sheriff's department says they don't suspect foul play and carbon monoxide is rumored to be the cause of death, but it's still pending an autopsy. The third person in the car was Shain's best friend, who was 27.

csproat said...

Oh Sissonville.....when will you stop being the scene of a Greek tragedy?

Sherry said...

At first I thought this had something to do with the massive pike up on I77 but then realized it was some place else. Very sad on his untimely death.

Sherry said...

Meant "pile "up. And what a sad demise but at least their death (if there is any upside) was not violent and somewhat peaceful. Condolences most sincerely to all of their families.

There's noise now that there may be a gunshot wound involved too, lipstick alley had something about it, maybe from tmz?
It always makes me sad when good hearted ppl are taken too young, yet the cracken still hangs on.
