Amy Winehouse Overdosed On Pills At Age 10

There is a new book about Amy Winehouse that is probably not going to make her family very happy. Blake Fielder Civil has always said he was the person who introduced Amy Winehouse to drugs. This new book, Amy Winehouse - The Untold Story says that shortly after her parents separated at the age of 9, she began doing drugs and at age 10 overdosed on pills and was found by a friend who thought Amy was going to die when she found Amy on the floor foaming at the mouth. This was not the first suicide attempt for Amy. Apparently she had been trying to slash her wrists for several months. She survived and went on to start smoking pot the same year and never stopped using drugs. The excerpts I have read have been really depressing, and I'm not sure it is how I want to think of Amy.

Tyger Lilly said...: Bacon Ranch hit the nail on the head - how is learning about her early drug use any more depressing than her winding up dead at the height of her career @ 27yrs old?

And I haven't heard too much about Blake since her death, so I'm sure he will be publicly disputing this story so that he can get a little more fame/drug money. What else does he have if not the reputation for causing her demise?; 6:50 AM
Now! said...: I have not read the book, but some of the accounts have said she had an ambition to die young and be thought of as a legend. I believe Kurt Cobain and Ian Curtis expressed a similar thoughts, but this is the first time I have heard of it coming from a female.; 7:04 AM
Tyler said...: Wow Tyger.. kinda harsh. Blake became a press pariah after admitting responsibility for Amy's addiction. He was busted for burglarizing a home to obtain drug money and was sent to prison where he remained when Amy overdosed.

I'm glad this new information has surfaced. It makes a lot more sense than her meeting Blake and essentially changing into an entirely person practically overnight.; 7:07 AM

I remember in an interview her brother had said when she was still a teen he would find her passed out on the kitchen floor (where the lyric in Rehab came from) and he would literally step over her and go about his business. Basically ignoring her because to him that was just Amy. Her family should have gotten her help long long before she entered show business.; 7:42 AM

Count Jerkula said...: This is what I tried to explain to people who were up in arms about a Medicinal Pot farm being put into my town. Most likely your kids "gateway drug" isn't going to be a doobie stolen from a pot farm, it is going to be the last 3 vicodin you have left over from a toothache, or some of your xanax, or the oxies your taking for back pain.

When I was in High School, everyone was weed, blow and LSD. Now it is all prescription pills and some progress to smack.; 8:39 AM

They're doing the same thing with something as innocent a video games by calling them "Murder Simulators" and saying they are used to train people to kill.

Hell, it's like the 80's and they wanted people to believe that listening to Ozzy Osborne would lead kids to murder their families for Satan.; 11:24 AM

Tyger Lilly said...: Ms Cool - I have a 9-yr-old, and if your son is in school with other kids he knows the truth. I know my daughter knows but she "plays the game" because if still believing gets you tons of presents they're going to do what they have to. I would do it too if it meant someone would buy me lots of presents too!; 6:37 AM
Ms Cool said...: @Tyger Lilly - My son is in school. He is starting to wonder but his heart wants to really believe. I volunteer at school and a lot of kids in his grade still discuss Santa in a very real sense. I was surprised.

The bottom line, my son's innocence is so sweet compared to Amy Winehouse starting drugs at the same age.; 9:42 AM
