Angie Everhart Has Thyroid Cancer - Surgery Today

Just one day after revealing that she has thyroid cancer, Angie Everhart will be having surgery today. Just like Angelina Jolie, Angie says the only reason she is telling anyone about the diagnosis is so that others will also get tested and not be afraid to be treated for cancer. Angie says that she is expected to make a full recovery and be back to normal in a few weeks.

Maddie said...: I find that celebs (or pseudo celebs) announcing their medical diagnosis is similar to when they donate to charity. Yeah, it's often self-serving and solely for the sake of publicity, but the attention it generates (whether it be a for a charity or a disease) makes it worthwhile so it doesn't bother me.

People hearing about Angie Everheart may get tested or call their doctor or just give them comfort that even famous people deal with it too. A lot of conditions are brought into the spotlight solely because someone famous has it. The positive outweighs the self-serving negative.; 7:50 AM

I know Angie (she's a friend of a good friend of mine) and she's cool. She's had a lot of really tough things happen in her life and still seems to have a pretty decent attitude.

Thyroids are such tricky little beasties, heck it is hard enough to just get hyper or hypo diagnosed.

BTW, a thyroid ultrasound takes about 5-10 minutes tops, and doesn't hurt a bit. If you've got any doubts about yours, -knots, difficulty swallowing, tightness in the neck, etc- see your doctor. Better safe than sorry.; 11:17 AM
