Vince Flynn Has Died

Best-selling author Vince Flynn, who wrote the Mitch Rapp counter-terrorism thriller series and sold more than 15 million books in the U.S. alone, died Wednesday in Minnesota after a more than two-year battle with prostate cancer, according to friends and his publisher. He was 47. He counted former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton among his fans, as well as foreign leaders and intelligence community figures.

I'm unfamiliar with him, but rest in peace Mr. Flynn. Very sad to hear about these recent deaths.

Why do Miley and Bieber and Chris Brown get to be around and people like James Gandolfini leave us too soon? Sorry if that sounded in poor taste, but it's just not fair.

So sorry to read this; love his books. I knew he had been ill, but thought he was getting better.

Michael Hastings also passed away recently. He was a writer for Buzzfeed and Rolling Stone.

RIP Vince Flynn

Well that makes three. Always three. There are two in my family that will be gone any day week month or even minute now. The rest of us are paranoid as to who will be third.

I didn't even know he'd been ill. Only read a few of his books, but liked his imagination, although he did sometimes have a bad habit of using non-existent words consistently, such as "ahold" for example. Still, no one's perfect.

He self published his first book Term Limits and it was so successful with word of mouth he got picked up. A sufferer of dyslexia he started a reading a then writing habit to help himself. Also was the story consultant on 24 season 5. My BFF, who is in the military gave me his books (obvs he thinks so many thrillers are idiotic) because he thought they were so well done. They are great books. I was worried he wasn't getting better because I'm always waiting for the new one. RIP Mr Flynn, thank you for your legacy of writing.

If everyone could be more like Vince, this world would be a better place. He was a good kid from St. Paul and raised by great parents. Taken too early - rest in peace.

Someone dying instead of someone else isn't supposed to be fair. Death is a part of life. We all get to deal with it.

It's that sort of attitude that baffles me to no end. I guess no one is supposed to care about whoever if you don't, greenmountaingal? That's a vile outlook to have.

Just started reading his books (which are really good) about a month ago. Damn. RIP.
