After 40 years, you would have thought the sweater vest would have shown at least some wear and tear. Must've used that cheer crap.

I think Milla's legs are tinier than Nicole's if that's possible.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel that outside of the fashion industry, most women have agreed that looking unhealthy and underweight is not the business. I could be very wrong, but I feel like the "body revolution" (best term i can think of) is always calling out photoshopped stuff, goop diets, too skinny celebs and all that.

Can someone explain why someone would want to be Nicole Ritchie's size?

As someone that has continually suffered with battling anorexia since she was ten, its more of an obsession about control most of the time, rather than specifically wanting to be that particular size. I've finally been covering the last 3 years.

I thought the teacher was a Smothers Brother the first time I looked. I don't look close to the age I have to be to know who they were. :(

I love the story of that teacher. The 2nd year he hadn't noticed that he wore the same outfit he had on in the previous yearbook. His wife thought that was hilarious & told him he should keep doing it as a joke.

Teacher guy is awesome. Or rather, his wife is for coming up with it!

Props to him for that outfit still fitting after all these years!

I'd be happy that my sweater vest still fit. He probably only wore it once a year!

Samuel and Magic now that seems an odd pairing.

Being thin is a social status thing as well. Even non-famous wealthy women keep themselves more trim. I think celebs take it further because the camera adds so much, seeing themselves in pics/on tv really helps skew their self-assessment.

It's like.... If I get to be this size, I will have everything together. All my closets will be clean, my wardrobe will be amazing etc. it's about control and a quest for a way to control every aspect of your life. There is no perfect, there is no magic bullet but when you are in that mindset .... It's not just about the size or about the food. Anorexia is a manifestation of a lot of other things.
FYI - they think that there might be a correlation between anorexia and ADD in women. ADD presents in women very differently than in boys or men. And those with ADD feel overwhelmed and out of control. Desperately overwhelmed. And so they try to get some control through food. It's something to look into for anyone who is going through it. And know it does and can get better.

@Kels

I am that size (probably smaller since I am 5') and the truth is, if I put on 10 pounds, I look like a tiny blimp since it all goes to my stomach area, if I lose 10 pounds, I am skeletal.

I personally want to be HEALTHY above fit, but let me ask you, why would anyone want to be overweight? I am only asking the question you asked - it seems that a lot of naturally thin people get vilified and it's ok while it's not ok to point out most people eat like pigs and in return are fat like pigs but god forbid, 'that's how god made them.' No.

People need to stop discussing other peoples sizes. There's no right and wrong, there's healthy and there's unhealthy.

I have some friends who are much bigger girls and are very proud of it and I find it interesting that I have NEVER heard any of them talk trash on smaller people. The perpetual nit-picking at someones image is all about YOUR problem with your self image, not others.

Isnt it funny, being fat and pale was once a symbol of wealth. So was owning many books... The inverse square law of food supply, labor and wealth. Well the inverse law applies to physics but you catch my drift...

@G
It sure looks like Magic behind Samuel L. Jackson; but isn't Magic taller?

I read an article, I think on Jezebel, about stores not selling sizes larger than 16 and everyone was pissed because the average American was larger. And I know the media shoves skinny people in or faces but I also was astonished that nobody said anything about how large the average was. Instead of complaining how clothing stores needed to start carrying larger clothing. To me, larger than six 18 is not healthy.

It's crazy, the bigger we get as a country the more anorexic Hollywood becomes.

Why are Samuel L Jackson and Magic Johnson vacationing together? And is there a BI about a former A+ list athlete and an A list actor somewhere that could be about them?

thanks - that was what I was thinking as I read. So sick of skinny bashing - why is that acceptable when picking on someone heavier is taboo. Everyone just concentrate on your own damn self for once and stop laying out your own insecurities on others. Being obsessed with weight is unhealthy, whether always zooming in on the too skinny or too fat. flame away!

I think when this photo was snapped, their wives were doing some shopping around Capri (where they are all vacationing)
