The Simpsons And The Family Guy Come Together

In fall 2014, just in time for sweeps, The Simpsons will cross over and meet up with The Family Guy. Yes, Bart will meet Stewie and Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson will argue about which town has the best beer. Because The Simpsons have been around longer, the Griffin family is coming to Springfield. The fact that Fox announced this well over a year in advance shows you how much they love this idea and how much money advertisers are going to have to cough up. Right now the word on the street is that ads are going to cost Super Bowl type money. $1M+ for 30 seconds. Also, the episode is going to be an extended episode to make sure as much money rolls into the coffers as possible.

Are the simpsons still a thing? My high school era, kitschy Bart Simpson t-shirt is long gone.

I generally only watch either in syndication, but I do enjoy them.

That said, they should have gone with the Wu Tang Variety Hour that I pitched yesterday.

American Dad is superior to both. Seth McFarlane's homage to Uncle Arthur from Bewitched via Roger is Emmy worthy!

This I am excited about. I hope Lisa helps confirm Stewie's distaste for women and all things baby. I wonder who he'll kill first.....

I don't think I like this...the Simpsons are too innocent for the Griffins

I'll probably end up watching, not a huge Simpsons fan, but I do love Family Guy

I thought they were the same show. Never watched either one.

Stewie is bi. Clearly bi.

I think both shows are crass and vulgar.

I'm kind of disappointed in Matt Groening. This would be like Radiohead doing an album with Kid Rock. At least we know The Simpsons writers know enough to not write joke songs about getting to see actresses boobies during brutal rape scenes. Seth McFarland is definitely the Kid Rock of comedy.

Ugh, definitely won't be watching! I LOVE old school Simpsons and I've watched seasons 1-10 so many times I've lost count. Simpsons back then was just so brilliant and intelligent and genuinely heartfelt, that today's version seems 10 times shittier than it probably is. And I've always liked Family Guy but even their type of humor that isn't necessarily that smart to begin with, seems more stupid then back when it premiered!

But I'm sure this episode is going to make a lot of people a looooot of money so yay, I guess??

I'm never gonna find it to cut and paste, but someone mentioned Wu-Tang had an album coming out and I said they should do a 70's style variety show to promote it. Comedy sketches, guest stars and performances.

I said FOX should do it 830-930 on a Sunday with Wu Tang Clan members on the Simpsons and Family Guy as Pre and Post game kind of things, not to analyze the special, but to hold the ratings and have good guest spots. Like when the 3 Stooges or the GlobeTrotters were on Scooby Doo.

NOTE: This concept can still be purchased but the asking price has gone up. I still want a DVD of the night's shows, but I want it autographed by Groening, MacFarlane and the participating members of the Wu Tang Clan. This is a sweeps week cash cow, get on it now FOX. As of Monday the prices is going up 3packs of smokes.

Oh @Ivs, you're right on. I only watch old Simpsons eps, Seasons 4 & 5 are my favs. I've loves Family Guy since the beginning, mostly because I was raised by older parents and I got a lot of the references to 40's-60's era type things. But after seasom 8, I haven't watched religiously. I hear the made another 'Road to ...' episode, and now I'm done. So sick of the singing/dancing schtick.

Crossover TV shows are hardly ever a good idea. I remember when THE PRACTICE lawyers crossed over into ALLY MCBEAL world and the PRACTICE gang thought the ALLY people were crazy with their nutty unisex bathrooms, pretty bright colors, dancing babies and shit, and the PRACTICE people were all like, "You guys are loco." Then the ALLY people went over to PRACTICE world, where it was grey and scummy and depressing and the ALLY people were all like, "Can we go back to our fun show now? Being over here is sad and it makes us want to cry."

@ivs, you had me nodding until you said Family Guy (loathe it). The series' of the Simpsons we like were made when Matt Groening was still involved - he sold up, and went off to make Futurama (which I enjoy). Later Simpsons eps weren't just missing the magic, they were mean, crass, and so very very stupid.

But, didn't the Flintstones meet the Jetsons?

I hate Seth McFarlan, but love the Simpsons. Yes, they are well past their sell-by-date, but I can never forget "Kamp Krusty."

word on the street? So you work in television-advertising lawyery stuff? Or you just know everyone? You must be a pretty powerful and/or likable guy to have so many well connected sources. Hmmmm.. Gawd, just read B Smears/Marcie Smears comment, she is so fucked up.

Hmph. I think The Simpsons writers are too good to collab with those Family Guy hacks.
