Blind Items Revealed

June 11, 2009

What aging but not really old Academy Award winner/nominee A list actor recently had a heart attack and passed out but refused to go the hospital. Instead, he had his doctor come to the house and hired a nurse to watch over him for a few days. He even went to a sporting event three days after it happened.

Jack Nicholson

How do they really know it was a heart attack then? Don't you need scans and such? Sad however, and dumb too.

probably indigestion from some bad clams.

As believable as Scott Disick in Kanye West's Patrick Bateman
You need to do medical test to identify a heart attack

How is Nicholson (even in 2009) "aging but not really old"? Dude's been decrepit for years. I looked up his age and I'm surprised he's only in his seventies.

EKG and bloodwork are all that is required to dx MI. EKG machines can be very portable and blood could easily be drawn and dropped off at the lab.

Sounds like the plot of "Something's Got to Give."

jack only really goes to laker games

Was just going to say the same thing as @DocP, if you have the means, there is really very little that you HAVE to go to the hospital for, I'd imagine.

However if you have heart attack or in the middle of one going to the hospital and getting proper treatment can limit the damage so unless he called in a cardiologist right away, incredibly lame move. Are health insurance premiums not paid up?

I'm pretty sure this was the plot of "Something's Gotta Give."

When they say 'aging but not really old' I took it as he doesn't act really old. He's pretty spry with the same behaviors. I saw a picture of him not too long ago with white shit coming out of his nose. I love his movies but he's a lost cause. And I heard he got with drew barrymore when she was real young. Not cool.

His character in Something's Got To Give goes to the hospital. That's how Diane's character meets the younger doctor (Keanu :P).

Never liked Jack himself, but he has been great in a few films.

"Not really old"??? How old do ya have to be to be considered old? (or maybe Ente meant "Really old" but still Nicholson's both old and Really old.)

If they did an EKG in the ambulance they could tell his heart was acting up because an abnormal EKG is when they order more tests. He could have a echocardiogram done at his home, and nuclear scan via a portable truck unit. So, they may know he had an attack.

But I agree, Jack is old as hell.

Ok regarding all the people that say he needs medical tests to confirm... Several years ago, my dad, in his late 70s' told us that a "few weeks ago" he felt one of his arteries close up and had shooting pain. He said he went to the bathroom and took like 5 aspirin and went and layed down the rest of the day. Now normally I would think it was silly, but my ex-husband, who *did* have a massive heart attack (at 33) had been recovering for 3 months and told me one day he was just sitting there and felt his artery close/clog/stop up, whatever you want to call it. We went and had tests and he was right. They put a stent in, which failed 3 months later, and on and on with him. (it was an inherited thing).
But I'm just pointing out that yes, sometimes people *do* know.

Im sure he had best care money can buy and all the tests at his house. And so would i if i could. I hate hospitals, they like insane asylums, you never really know whats going on.

Come on, all the blow Jack has done, he has had other heart attacks and knows what is up. He probanly didn't want the coke in his system showing up on the tests in the hospital.

Those seats aren't cheap. I know someone who's got similar seats for my local NBA team, and in 2008, he paid $500,000 for a season for two seats (I don't know how much they are now). I'd bet Lakers' tickets cost at least twice that.

They have medical concierge doctors that will come to your home and treat you discreetly. And all the medical equipment that you usually find in hospitals can be discreetly loaded into a private residence. You'd be surprised what money can buy you nowadays.

But my point is if he was having a heart attack or just had one I still can't see you could arrange for a doctor to come to your house quicker than going to the nearest emerg and again they can do things that minimize the damage of the heart attack if you do get to emerg asap. My uncle arrived at the hospital, the idiot drove himself, another stupid stubborn man, refused to let anyone take him so thank god he did not kill anyone else on the way there but he was still having the heart attack when he got there and they were able to stop it and minimize the damage at that time. The heart is one thing you really should not mess with.
