What openly gay TV host was furious when a staffer of his spilled the beans that he got engaged to his younger boyfriend, a not-so-closeted athlete on Fire Island during Pride Week? He's doing massive damage control, even telling his boyfriend to beard up with a model for the Fashion Week red carpets and afterparties, even though the engaged couple got into a huge fight at one afterparty. The athlete plans on coming out soon anyway.

Andy probably wants to control the announcement and make some money off it would be my guess for the damage control.

Vera, I remember that well. Avery caught a lot of flack for that, from all corners. It was just a stupidly ignorant thing to do and he paid for it. For pretty much all of his career Avery was actually one of the most disliked players in the NHL, not just by the fans but by the other players in the league as well. Avery personifies "asshole".
Someone asked Andy on twitter about it and he said - something to the effect if - ask Sean. Then deleted the post. Doesn't sound like Andy is the one who is holding off on talking about the engagement. Each in their own time.
I would believe Avery being bi or gay. And not just b/c of the Vogue internship. I would even believe that he's dating Cohen.
But the part where Cohen tells him to "beard up"? Nah. I think Cohen would be doing the total opposite of that. After all, HE'S not the one in the glass closet.
I have to say, their tweets about it are pretty funny. Someone asked Cohen if he was engaged to Avery, his response was "ask him". Avery's response? "Busted". (It helps if you read that in Avery's deadpan voice.)
I love it b/c it's either the greatest bromance of all time or the most, "meh, yeah, we're engaged".
I always remembered Avery as an asshole during his career. Maybe his behavior was the result of him having to be closeted professional athlete. Let's hope this makes him a better person.
I think Andy wants the big reveal to happen on his show in order to bring as much publicity and profit to himself as possible and his show is on hiatus.
Maybe Sean is going to be Andy's on-set muscle to save him from raging housewives and attacking birds.
I read the story of their engagement and didn't know who Sean was. This item isn't much of a blind!

Sean Avery was on Fashion Police in the last couple of months and Joan Rivers asked him something like why did everyone hate him - i was cracking up. He seems like such a dick. I remember when he made that comment about the sloppy seconds. I'm surprised that Andy would go for someone as surly as him - Andy seems like a happy go lucky dude and Avery just seems like an asshole.
