Marie-ski, I think it depends on which STD. I have a friend that successfully had her ex-bf prosecuted for knowingly giving her HIV. I don't know how that translates to herpes. I kinda agree with Sherry, though, everyone's sexual health is their own responsibility. Don't assume ANYone is watching out for your bum
FlirtyChick74, to take a test before engaging in sexual activities at all and be rightfully confident with the results would require abstinence before and monogamy during the relationship and a capable doctor doing the right tests while actually detecting potentially dormant STDs and STIs.
That's asking much and doesn't even cover the ridiculousness of the porn world, where almost every performer's an escort, thus a whore, spreading the good stuff to the general public in Los Angeles and beyond.
Condoms won't prevent everything there is; a lot though.
I would suspect that most jurisdictions have a specific offence related to failure to disclose your HIV status if not your STD status. Probably under some public health statute if not under existing criminal laws for assault etc. If they don't they all should because like drinking and driving, this is one of the ways that get people to change their behaviour over time. You keep making the penalties harsher until people get it. It should include spouses ehem who know they have contracted an STD but fail to disclose that to their spouse.
There was a case of a man in Canada that was spreading AIDS on purpose, again the early days. The understanding was that he was bitter with all women, since he blamed a woman for giving it HIV, and since he was dying anyway, may as well take some victims along with him.
He died of course before he was convicted. He actually in one case put on a condom on the insistence of the woman, but pulled it off at the last moment, and she did not realize it until it was too late and she died too. The local health unit knew he was a public health threat because they had issued an order against him to refrain from having any sex with anyone but he continued on of course. So when more complaints came in they arrested him and charged him with aggravated assault.
Yes Prolonged Exposure, I am not sure if this is still the case but isn't the rule about HIV is you need two clean tests six months apart to make sure you are negative?
Whoever invents a body condom that is easy to put on, and doesn't detract from the pleasure will be very rich. Regular condoms fail too so body condom wouldn't be fool proof either. Well if the body condom could also suck in the wobbly bits that's another bonus.

Yeah, it was pretty gross for her and she has to testify every time he appeals, but so far she's been really lucky, over 17 years and no developing into anything other than the HIV infection, knock on motherhumping wood.
Tina Mallette, if you meant that it's required to have two negative tests with six months in-between to work in porn, I'm not sure.
The potential to be infected and not detected to be infected with HIV is still there after that time span, as far as I know.
For people in porn that would mean no earnings in the performing side during that time, provided that the people watching over the performer pool are doing so with the performers' best intentions at heart and the people doing the tests to be capable to do them professionally and truthfully.
That doesn't seem to be the case though - there was one porn guy allegedly working with hepatitis C for three years or so - and who would prevent that performer in-between tests to whore herself/himself out privately while waiting?
The whole testing system in porn is nothing but an industry branch which might keep the spread of STDs and STIs somewhat manageable, but does so by relying on unrealistic premises and using more than questionable practices regarding privacy.
It's an instrument to keep the porn machine running and the more naive performers from worrying too much about what they're doing; the less naive ones won't find work due to being said to be difficult, thus getting blacklisted.
No one will find work in porn while demanding that condoms are used unless they have some very good connections and an accompanying status, a status only achievable by not being said to be difficult.
Retroactive detection and containment will never be thorough prevention.

I just googled paul walker and got many articles posted within the last hour saying he died in a car crash. This makes me sad. I was never a fan of F&F but, he seemed like a decent person and goodness gracious was he beautiful. My thoughts go out to his friends and family. Here's hoping it's a hoax.

My point was not about porn stars, my understanding was if you were going to have sex with a person and feel sure they were not exposed to HIV you need to have two tests done six months apart so at minimum if you are going to have sex with new person at least use condoms until you get that second test or you say, call me when you get that second test along with an updated full STD profile.
I can't remember how often porn stars get tested, I think I saw a documentary on sex workers in Amsterdam, the women who worked the window boutiques anyway, get tested weekly but you still have some junkie hookers who will do anything for $$$$. Ironically according to wiki, the Netherlands never considered prostitution a crime and were insisting on medical exams for prostitutes/sex workers back in the 1800s.
Be interesting if there are any stats to show if Western Europeans are more likely to use condoms than North Americans. Apparently the rate of HIV amongst Western European sex workers is quite low.
In defence of Bravo there is always one channel that is having a Fast and Furious marathon every weekend. Definitely was one last weekend. There is always at least one of those movies on somewhere on the dial every day.

Nope, she didn't suffer. Just yesterday afternoon she was acting like a kitten trying to get turkey as my Dad pulled it off the bone. She actually went into my Dad's room last night and jumped into his lap and started rubbing against his face then went into her room (my nieces room when they stay the night) and died. I guess she was telling him goodbye.
My dogs are both depressed. My Blue Healer woke me up and led me to her, then tried to wake her up. Our Pit Bull/Dalmation mix is just whining and shaking. I personally think animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for.

But I wanted to let you know that I shared this part of your comment on my FB because I think it's a great example at showing how animals aren't the pre-programmed bio-mechanical organisms most make them out to be. But rather, expressions of God with souls, just like us.
Your kitty is still around. You and your dogs will see him/her again one day.
