The tabloids are all in a feeding frenzy about a celebrity in sex rehab and it doesn't involve Tiger Woods or David Duchovny. Instead this has been mostly outpatient. The actor is B+/A- list. Bigger than David. Most of the time he is in movies but he would show up on television if you are his friend. Married because if you are single you don't really check into sex rehab. Oh, he is good looking. Child/ren. Actress wife.

I'm with Violet. This is what he tells his wife so she doesn't dump him. Then he goes to rehab to keep his wife from dragging him through a costly divorce.
How exactly does sex addiction 'rehab' work? Is it like Clockwork Orange, where they are given shocks depending on how they respond to pictures?
+1@ Pugstermom and Violet. Personally, I think they should get a divorce. This relationship has been nothing but a headache from the start. I can't imagine my world chasing around a cheating man who sees it fit to disgrace me and the family in public. If he's so unhappy he should leave. They are both wealthy and successful in their own right and don't need money from each other to take care of the kids.

I don't think is is what he tells his wife so she won't dump him. She won't dump him, period. Jenn Garner wanted Ben while both were unavailable, and she still wants him. She won't ever leave. This is what she tells him to do in order to stay nice to him.
Ben's name was mud in Hollywood until he started getting some respect back with Gone Baby Gone and then The Town put him back on top of the game in 2010.
I think if anything he was just trying to keep his career together and didn't want to rock the boat so he goes to 'sex rehab'.
Agree with PS Jen won't ever leave him. Not just because of the kids she married him when he couldn't get arrested in HWood and worked on bringing him back to A list. That's her prize to keep. If true she is the one that got the nudie Blake Lively pictures released to the media when Blake was chasing after Ben.
I wouldn't cross Jen she seems to have a viscous side.
I watched the season of Celebrity Rehab where the issue was sex addiction. All the patients had issues, sexual abuse as a child is one of the factors, inability to be truly intimate etc and part of the treatment was a full psychological workup and counselling. All the women who were adult film stars had been molested as children and/or raped when they were older and so they see their power and self worth comes from sex. I am sure some people are totally turned off from sex forever esp if you don't get help but it more often goes the whole other direction. Another celebrity, she had gone to rehab before to kick alcohol and drugs and so was substituting sex for her previous addictions. Doing dangerous and stupid things. One of the guys was a former rock drummer and he really really wanted to have a normal relationship and not cheat, he wanted a family and kids, but you live that lifestyle long enough it is hard to break out of that habit and those expectations. Normal doesn't seem to cut it.
To me any addiction is when a behaviour or an impulse interferes with your goals, your work, your personal relationships, and at its worse, you are making choices that threaten your health and safety. I mean that is what a food addiction is when you think about it
Or maybe it is a sex addiction if YOU consider it to a problem you want or need to deal with but I agree it is a handy way for promiscuous people to also explain away their behaviour to a spouse or partner etc.

Whatever Jen's reasons are for staying with him, kudos to her. It takes a big person to stay with someone after finding out about lies and infidelities. But to have the whole world know and hound you down for comments, or to want the marriage to fail..... Damn that's got to blow.

Psychopaths and sociopaths are fascinating. Only a small percentage are serial killers. Many are high functioning successful people, esp in the entertainment business.
